1. What brand of intercom system do i need to buy to hook up to the system on my bike. I know that the voyager has a different pin set up than say a goldwing. Im looking for helmets that already have the system or something that i can install in the helmet. Sorry for the new guy questions but i got the fever:banana:
2. I tried jumping on the back end of another thread fishing for comments, but may have confused folks on what I was looking for. I'll try again with a new thread... I've been looking to get a 3/4 helmet. My HJC shorty doesn't position the headset speakers over my ears and I get a hot spot at the top of my left ear. I like HJC, I have a Symax flip chin full face helmet I like alot, but I want a "Summer" helmet. I've seen the catalog pictures of the AC3 and the testimonials on previous threads here are encouraging, but then I came across a catalog listing for a Cyber U-12. I'm wondering if anyone has this Cyber U-12 helmet and what you think of it. It looks like it has the best of both worlds. A skeletonized visor and a face shield that seems to flip up under the visor. I wonder if there are ear pockets in the lining for speakers and whether the bottom edge of the helmet will take the headset boom clamp (J&M). I wonder if the visor will stay up in the wind or if the wind causes it to close. I like the styling of the Cyber U-12 helmet and the price is comparable to the HJC. Anyone with any history with this Cyber U-12 helmet? Thanks. David
3. Yesterday I bought a new HJC AC3 helmet. I was wondering if any of you use the same helmet and what you think of it. I wanted a 3/4 helmet so I can use the headset and didnt want to get a full face. Not broken in yet but when I tried it on it seemed nice. I like it because when the face shield is not on it has a nice visor to hide all the ratchet mechanisms. It is DOT and Snell rated and also the way it is shaped it allows for free movement of head as well as being light. This is my first helmet larger than a 1/2 other than my Racing helmet. Tell me what you think!
4. Sounds strange, but that's what it does. Almost sounds like back tire noise, but it just started happening a few miles back. Bike has a little over 2000 miles on it. I have checked pressures, final drive oil is new (synthetic) and everything else is fine. A Roadstar buddy of mine said it was hard to hear in his half helmet, but he thought tire noise. It's easily heard in my full helmet. Do I need to take it in?
5. I purchased a Yamaha (J&M) headset recently. I installed the headset in my HJC AC2M..., well I tried. When I put the speakers which barely fit into the speaker pockets they are so thick they dig into my ears and drive me crazy (crazier). I think I need to go to a 3/4 helmet in order to accomodate the speakers, but I don't want to spend that kind of money unless I know the speakers and mike will fit properly. Any suggestions on which helmet will work?
6. Does anyone have an easy way or some helpful info regarding the installation of headsets without having to cut into the helmet ?? I have a full face CIRUS helmet
7. Just got my new Nolan N102 n-com helmet - man, do I love it! Some great improvements over the N100E that I have been using for three years. I loved the N100E too, but she's yesterday's news now that I have had my head in the N102!! (The N102 n-com is $250 at Motorcycle Accessories Warehouse, and the Platinum color is very close to the 2005 RSV) Both the N102 and N100 are modular flip-front helmets. The N102 is proportioned a bit differently, giving slightly more forehead and chin room (both front and sides of the chin). The new latch release mechanism is really sweet - much easier to use than the old one, once you figure it out. Just pull forward with your thumb on a little lever in the center of the chin bar, causing a bigger lever to push out from the front of the chin bar - squeezing these two together causes the helmet to open. The shield ratchets and covers are significantly improved. Both helmets have Nolan's proprietary anti-fog shield that works really well, and the N102 has a new dark 1/2 shield outside the main shield that works like sunglasses. Nolan calls this the VPS (vision protection system). I am a little disappointed that the VPS is not extra dark, as it will not make a significant difference when riding directly into a setting sun, but it let me make one simple mod that solves that problem too. I just put a strip of blue painter's tape inside the top of the VPS shield. This is above the normal line of vision, but allows a slight tip of the head to completely block the direct rays of the fire ball. Here are a couple of pictures: That last one is with the VPS shield flipped up and the main shield down, but it looks a little strange because the whole front is flipped up too, so you are looking at the top of the helmet through the shield. For someone who already has the N100E with extra shields, the shields are ALMOST interchangeable. Actually, without the VPS on the N102, they ARE interchangeable. But to use the VPS shield too, you need a little notch cut in both sides, like this: A rotary tool with a small steel cutter works fine to modify the older shields. I modified my old extra dark shield so I have both it and the VPS for summer riding. On to the Headsets. I have the cheapest J&M clip-on headset on my old N100E, and I have been very pleased with the quality of the sound. I ordered the mid-level 277 series for the N102 n-com. Love the way the helmet is designed to take an integrated headset and the way J&M used that for theirs. The sound of the 277 series is better, but not by a huge amount. Although the mid-range is more crisp, the bass is not as pronounced as it was with the cheapies. I verified this was the speakers instead of the helmet by unplugging the speakers from the old one and putting them in the N102 after I had completely mounted the new headsets. This weekend I am meeting my brother who has a new set of J&M 584 series (their best, and lot more expensive). I'll compare them and report back next week. Ride safe, Goose
8. Anybody know if the J & M JMHS8146OF headsets would work with a modular flip front helmet? I know they are made for an open face helmet but I was wondering if any one tried the headset with a fuul face or flip front. I have 3 different helmets and I am hoping this will work with all 3. Thanks.
9. Here are some photo's of how I rigged up a set of J & M headsets to my shorty helmet . I use .90 kydex which I cut with my bandsaw to a width that fits between the yoke of my helmet straps and long enough for fit to squeeze between the helmet liner and the outer hard shell . On the mike side , I cut another peice of kydex and used jiffy rivets to secure to the part that holds the left speaker . Kydex can be molded with heat on which I did so the mike can extend without interfering with helmet straps . A common hair dryer will work , heatgun is better . The J & M headset came with 3 circular peices of sticky hooked side velcro . I used 2 to secure the speakers and cut the 3rd peice to fit within the clamp portion that secures the mike from vibration , being the kydex does not have a rim such as the edge of your helmet does . I could have formed the kydex to form arim ,but I was testing this first to see how it performs . I tucked the speaker wires as prescribed in the headset instructions . 10. Just received 2 sets of the J & M ($60.00) headsets . I have already modified my shorty helmets to accept the 3/4 helmet style by cutting out some kydex plastic . Sliding the kydex like shims between the helmet liner and shell and installing the units onto them . My questions is : "Can the radio be ran either through the speakers or headset and the CB be opposite of ?" My wife does not like the CB , but likes the radio . I enjoy both and do not want to annouy her with the squalk box . I read the owners manual and it does not dicuss this topic . I tried tuning the radio through the speakers , then tune the CB through the headset , but both radio and CB either go through the same option . I know she can turn down the volume , but we both have not been on the bike at the same time to acknowledge if we can make it work . Did I make any sense ? Gene

12. i am looking into the kbc tour com helmet with the j&m integrated headset. for my 2006 venture. does anybody use this helmet and what is the comfort and how does the headset work. thanks.
13. Almost 20 yrs ago I found a full face Kiwi helmet at a garage sale for $5. You may remember them as they were semi popular at the time. The helmet was almost new and was sold in the original box. The only thing wrong was with the visor. It moved up and down freely. I didn't think much of it and proceeded onto the Boulder turnpike (Colorado) riding my trusty KZ650. Anyone who has ridden this stretch of road knows it can get mighty windy. This was one of those days. I was riding about 75mph when a gust of wind hit me just right, shot up under the helmet, snapped my neck backward and the visor opened. I have never been as scared as when this happened. I veered off on the shoulder and shut it down safely. It took about an hour before I was ready to ride on and the Kiwi was later used for target practice. To this day I will not wear a full face helmet. Silly, but I hate them.
14. I am thinkin about picking up one of these helmets,Does anybody have it and what are your thoughts on it.Would you buy it again?
15. I wear a half helmet and go on group rides frequently. I am looking for a CB microphone handset for the RSV that plugs in and can hang on the Bars. dont want it on my helmet. Are there any?
