  1. I have lost voice on my whole system. No CB, no intercom with passenger and no cell phone using Buddy Rich Cable (worked fine before). Not sure if anyone else has had such a problem and where I could look for this. It all started about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if this may be related or not. I had my bike parked in buddy's driveway and his wife backed in my bike on the left side. That flipped the bike on the right and it rolled a fair bit (enough to scratch the top of the fairing and windshield). It may have pulled on the audio cable....not sure. To test I have exchanged helmet with my passenger and still same. I can hear her but she can't hear me. Same goes with the phone and CB, I can hear but they can't hear me. Any idea? I will ask the dealer to look at it under the insurance claim or under warranty....his choice I would think this is covered by warranty...right? Thanks for any suggestions.
  2. The wife and I are thinking about a road trip to northern NM for a September get away. We are planning stops in Toas and Santa Fe, then maybe heading north to Pagosa Springs CO. If anyone has a favorite road, restaurant, town or hotel we would love to hear your advise or opinions. We will have five or six days to just explore the area and take in all the wonderful scenery.
  3. Well i made it thought Skype it was great to hear from the few of ya over it, keep the rubber side down and keep the pictures coming:dancefool:
  4. I searched this sight about front lowering and think I will slide the front tubes up on my 2003 Midnight. It looks obvious how to do it but I know the best way is to hear from someone who has done it. So...how about some step by step instruction help? Thanks JerryK:Venture:
  5. Went under the knife yesterday.Had to have the appendix removed.Just got home and relaxing.Think I will go to the garage and at least hear the bike run.
  6. 2006 RSTD 38,000 miles Well twice I have be stuck Glad it was in my drive way I start the bike as usual choke - start about 20 seconds - choke in Twice it has started barely an idle then Dies repeat-repeat-repeat That's all i can get from it First time took about a half hour of starting an dying to run Today it had to be at least 20 starts and gave up called a friend with a trailer just went out it runs fine I am thinking it the fuel pump I don't hear it when I turn the key Now I hear it It doesn't seem flooded no gas smell Any help thanks
  7. Wow . . I now know why this site helps each other with tech issues. I am on vacation (went from Ocala, FL to Lewisburg, VA) and on my way back I started to hear the rubbing/grinding/whooshing noise from rear end. I know there has been many posts hear for that but mine is an 089 and I thought it should be warranty. Stopped at the dealer in Columbia, SC and was tied up for a couple of hours. The "Master Mechanic" that was supposed to be so great rode the bike and did hear the noise. He put it on the rack and supposedly lubed everything and inspected everything and said they couldn't find anything wrong but I still have the noise and they knew it. But they said it was safe to ride. Also they charged me $109.00 for not being able to claim warranty because Yamaha wouldn't pay for a non repair. So basically I guess I paid they money to be told "we're to stupid to find the problem". Hopefully my dealer in Ocala will be a little more honorable about it. I can't remember the dealers name in Columbia but there are 2 and they are both owned by the same people. So beware in Columbia. (I know I sound bitter but $109.00 is a lot to me to be thrown in the garbage!
  8. I usually ride with a 3/4 helmet and usually listening to music. Today I went out with the half helmet and I couldn't believe how noisy that engine is. It's like I can hear all of the mechanical noises that are going on in there. Are they all like that?
  9. MY '87 has a mild noise noticed when checking air in the read tire. 1st I have owned this for 20 years. This noise is new and I do hear the normal ring and pinion noise typical for 70k when spinning by hand. I have Spectro SPL 75w140 ($15/QT) in it, GREAT GEAR OIL. Along w/ the ring & pinion I hear this new noise when I spin the tire by hand, I hear a "creek" similar to an old door on your house closing or opening. Spin it fast...not noticable. Thus it cannot be heard while driving. The sound is very mild(not loud) but ODD. Any thoughts on maybe this is a wheel bearing or not. Yes, It makes this noise in both directions of rotaion. One way a bit more noticable that the other. The wheel shows no side play. I also have a new u-joint in it and the noise is clearly from the rear wheel area. My mechanics stethoscope says so. And no vibes can be felt while spinning by hand. Any input is helpful.
  10. I want to install a set of Nasty Boys 4-2-4's on my 06 RSTD but would like to hear them first , is there anyone who has an audio clip that I could hear
  11. My 2007 Venture with 18,000 miles has developed a strange noise. Sounds like its coming from the motor. Not very loud. 5 or 6 times then quite, and then 5 or 6 times then quite, etc. The noise is a lite knock. Clutch in or out. When I raise the idle speed it's hard to hear, but I don't know if it's gone. At first I thought maybe a fuel pump noise, half clogged filter? I going to take it to a Dealer tomorrow, but I thought maybe someone else has had this.
  12. I just installed a new Firestik antenna and fold down bracket. I am in the garage and cannot get reception on either the radio or CB. I can hear static in the speakers. Is the problem that I am inside the garage?
  13. Sunday I was out for a ride with another couple, I was on my 06 Venture they were 2 up on a RSTD. It was sunny and 24 degrees Celsius. We rode for a good hour before stopping and when we did I could hear a noise coming from his bike. I asked him what the noise was and he said the cooling fan. It then occurred to me that I have never heard my fan come on and it got me wondering. So today I checked the fuse and it was ok, so I asked a Yamaha service manager and he told me that’s not unusual and that it takes a lot before the fan comes on. I’m wondering what other 2nd gen riders experience with your bikes, do you hear your cooling fan kick in and what’s the temperature around the engine like when it does? Does it make a difference when you ride 2up? When you stop after a run is your fan running? Perhaps I should test my thermostat and temperature sensor??
  14. Only about 70 pics here. Got a few that you can't quite make out if they are actually the pond monster or not. Cindy seems to have gotten some pics and I hear a video of that and other things. Margaret
  15. I can't seem to get the volume on the I-pod adjusted to be able to hear over the Zummo 550. Any solutions available? Thank you.
  16. I was headed home from work this morning and I went past the Victory dealer. There was a sign up that said they now offering a "5 year warrenty". Ok, it was 3am so I circled back and read the sign again. Yep. That's what it said. Anybody hear anything on this or are they just pushing some outside party "extended" warrenty BS to make some sales?
  17. I'm heading out on a long trip soon and I'm trying to figure out a way to both protect my hearing from the wind noise and better hear my radio/XM under my helmet. I do not have speakers built into the helmet and listen VIA the built in stock speakers. the sound from the FM is fine but with the XM i can barely hear it at hi way speed. The sound just isn't loud enough. Does anyone have any experience with the the ear pieces that you can plug into the cassette audio output? Although I plug the XM into this so I'm not sure how this will work. I'm looking for something that others have used and feel work well. Thanks
  18. I have the J & M 2003DU (dual unit for driver/passenger) handle bar unit with the EdSets unit and have been plugging the EdSets lower cord into the J & M plug that comes from the J & M unit (don’t know if I am saying the right terminology) - have not had any problems for over a month. Last week, while I was installing “other stuff – not CB related” - I wrapped the antenna cable (under the gas tank) with rubber splicing tape to better seal it. On a chapter ride Sunday, I couldn’t hear anyone – though some could hear me when I spoke. Then, sometimes, I could only hear the Venture next to me – albeit with a lot of static, and no one up front (we had 18 bikes) could hear me and I couldn’t hear them.. During the ride, another member with the J & M complete set up in their helmet plugged their unit into my J & M out plug and everything worked great. In hindsite – I didn’t do this – was plug my helmet into their unit and try and trouble shoot it that way. I still hear the music through the EdSet unit, but no CB. I played around with the squelch / intercom – nothing worked though sometimes – if I had the squelch / intercom set real high – I periodically heard a little static. Could I have a bad lower cord from the EdSet unit – or bad connection / mic in my helmet? Maybe a bad antennae? I found it amazing as too how much I have come to depend on the CB – for the groups safety, etc. Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated. I have some weekend trips coming up within the next week – and need to solve my problem.
  19. Hi! I know this has come up several times here...but I just wanted to clarify. My 2000 RSV makes a loud Whining sound but only when throttle is closed...that is once i give it gas or steady gas the noise goes away. Is this the sound I hear so much about that is inherent in the machines or should I be concerned? Thanks in advance for your responses, Highway Star
  20. Has anyone driven on it? Nova Scotia. I hear lots of hipe.. is it worth my time?
  21. Hello to all; I just completed the antenna upgrade and all is fine. Took the scoot out on the road this morning and the tunes were coming in from areas I have not heard from in a long time. Got home and parked. Went back out to wash the bike and switched on the key to aux. too play some tunes and I had very little volume. Started up the bike to see if maybe it had something to do??? No avail, same result. At Vol 30, I can hear music very clearly out of all four speakers, but with very little volume. The volume control knob, when turned in the direction to decrease volume, does just that. It seems that the range of volume is happening between setting 1 ~ 3. I went through the settings to see if the fade was possibly affecting the output volume. I am unsure as to where to look next. Is there a mute button that I am not aware of?? Your help is always much appreciated. Thanks. Ricardo.
  22. has anybody seen or hear of these pipes? they look pretty good, wonder how they sound?http://motors.shop.ebay.com/merchant/allproparts2_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZ
  23. I've brought part of this problem up before but I have a follow up now. My AM/FM has plenty of sound thru the external speakers. At highway speed (60-65) I only need to turn the sound to 17 or 18 to hear it fine. When I switch to XM which is on my GPS (Garmin) the sound is nowhere as loud. I can turn it up to the max at 30 and at highway speed I can barely hear it. Same way when it's run thru the helmet speakers before I got a new helmet. My question now. If I get an MP3 player for my upcoming 30 day ride will the MP 3 be like the GPS/XM since it also plays thru the cassette player or will it be as loud as the FM? I may not get the MP 3 and waste my money if I can barely hear it.
  24. I have a 84 venture royale. When the engine is warm it turns over very slow while starting. This happens even when the battery is fully charged? My bought this bike 5 years ago from my brother who owned it for 10 years before me. he said it had always done this for him also. Anyone hear of this problem before?
  25. 2001 RSV with 13000 miles. Whirl, whine @ all speeds even 20mph. Its not in the rear, but I can hear it louder near the front center of the bike. The noise quits when I pull in the clutch. That confirms a driveline issue. Sounds like a bad bearing, maybe the one at the front of the driveshaft. I thought by adding the Samson pipes I wouldn"t hear it but no luck. I replaced both tires & lubed the rear hub. This sound is driving me crazy. Anybody out there have success fixing this problem? Could it be the u-joint worn?
