  1. The Importance of Walking Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month. ___________________________________ My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where he is. __________________________________ I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me. ______________________________ The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again. ____________________________________ I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.. ________________________________________ I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to actually go there. ______________________________________ Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate. ____________________________________ The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.' ____________________________________ If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country. __________________________________ I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years,...... just getting over the hill. __________________________________ We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ___________________________________ AND Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine. You could run this over to your friends But just e-mail it to them.
  2. We forgot to acknowledge the help of your friendly canuck: Marcarl. His help in tracking down a reasonably priced car hire was great, his suggestion of a mini van, and now we hear it will have a CB as well :happy65::happy65::happy65:
  3. I want to thank you all both near and far for sticking by me and being patient~ It hasn't been an easy year for me...you all know that...I am just thankful to have you lend an ear and hear me out...you all mean a lot in my life! Hopefully 2011 will be better and I will be Stronger, Happier, and Enjoy life more better! God Bless You All Joanna
  4. Can anyone tell me why my CB only works before noon. It usually works fine when we 1st take off then later in the day I can be heard but I can't hear anything but a dead key. If anyone has had this problem please tell me what to do to fix this problem.
  5. OK I need some input on where to start and what might be wrong. Everything on my stereo comes on and works like it should except no sounf from speakers or headset. I can hear it a little bit when it is cranked all the way up. FM, Tape deck and MP3 all play. The CB radio works as it should and I can hear it fine. It started this a few days ago and then all of a sudden it started to work and then when I got home it went out again. Thanks Rick
  6. Menards has a red bike lift on sale for $64. I think I'm going to get one but first want to hear if anyone here has one and what they think of it.
  7. OK, I love my Zumo 550 but I just can not hear it. What am I doing wrong. I have it attached inside the faring just like the article explained. I have the volume on the Zumo set at 100% and I have the AUX volume set at 30 and I can bearly hear it at 50 MPH. As you all know I do not have loud pipes. It is no better wheather I use the Head phones or speakers. Do I have a bad unit or did my wife buy a $600 gift :mo money:that-- in my opinion--sucks--
  8. Hope you can help me, i have an 2000 venture and have had this problem for some time, i will be talking fine on the cb and when i am not i will get this loud white noise static noise ,over the head sets and over the speakers depending what it is switched, very annoying and my riding buddy says he can hear it over his cb also, any ideas, also sometimes i have to turn the squelch up all the way. it is speratic and does not due it all the time. i do not know where to start. also when ever i talk there always seems seems to be back ground static, thanks for the help..
  9. First of all, usually I hear the pump click a few times before I start 'er up. Last night (it was much colder than usual, not that it makes a difference) when I was heading home from work I got on, turned the key and didn't hear anything. The bike ran perfectly fine all the way home (and I had ~145 miles on that particular tank). For kicks, about 1 mile away from my house I turned the fuel off, pulled in and parked. I let the bike sit for a minute or so and turned the key ON again to my surprise I didn't hear the clicking. I am presuming that my pump is toast (I will check the pump by jumping it from the battery when I get home to verify pump and not the relay)... My questions are this: 1) Will our bikes run quite well (hard acceleration, high speeds, etc) even if the pump isn't pumping and I only have 1-2 gallons left in the tank? 2) What all is necessary to pick up if I go pick up one of those Mr. gasket pumps? Do I just need to get the appropriate fittings so that the hoses will effectively be out of one end? I recall reading that the #42s pump was no longer an option because it was redesigned - what is the difference between the 'new' and 'old' designs and what is it about the 'new' design that makes it not work for us? Muchos grassybutt folks. (That's thanks a lot for those of you that don't speak spanglish).
  10. I know ya'll were headed out on a big trip sometime now, I just forgot when you were supposed to be back. I presume since you haven't been around to lately, you are doing fine, out of contact completely or doing something we don't want to hear about anyways . Hope all is going well and you two are enjoying your trip!
  11. so heres the deal.i finaly bought a stebel horn to replace the factory horn on right side so people can hear it. the factory horn(lower right)didnt work but the front one dose.must be a bad connection either in the switch or in line somewhere because the stebel horn dosent work either. i did hook the new horn up straight wire to make sure it works and it dose. cant hear a damn thing now but o well. dose anyone have any thoughts on this problem?
  12. Mostly wondering if they caught the scumbag yet.
  13. Was it ever great to hear from him!! He said to tell all of you "hi" and how grateful he is to everyone here for everything they have done for him. He has more tests coming up soon and hopefully they will get this thing figured out. You don't know how good it was to hear his voice. Even though he's not feeling the best, he's still joking around! I'm praying for the day when I see a pix on here of Lowell back on his bike with that little ol' grin on his face!
  14. I was stopped at the Rail Road tracks in Genesee today and a black RSV pulled up next to me flying the USA flag and a POW-MIA flag on the antenna's. I tried to talk to you but you either didn't hear me or just didn't want to talk to someone in a green van. Was it someone from here?
  15. If anyone reading this has a good set of the dual downturned exhaust/muffler extensions for a 1st Edition, and is willing to part with them for ???? $$$$$$, let me know. I would really love to hear from ya. Thanks MG
  16. Hi All Just got the word that my ex wife went down on a curve last weekend. She has 3 broken ribs and the bike is in tough shape also. Her boy frend stayed with the bike then when to dinner with some buddys while she was in the hospital. When I hear of true love like that it brings a tear to my eye. Bull463
  17. OK...when stopped (stopped only)...and I have to feather the clutch, I hear a "CREAKING" sound coming from the clutch lever. I can also barely feel this creaking. Looking at it, I think I can see a rubber boot (maybe not)...so I am afraid to oil it until I hear from some of you. Any suggestions or comments on this... Wally
  18. HELP,!!! I just got my radio back from my Dads house {he was repairing the mount plate cracked where the lower bar goes accross} and plugged it into the dash and it lights up goes to correct stations but very little sound comes out of the speakers! have to have it up full blast to hear anything out of the speakers. Leaving for SD,BLack hills ride this friday at 1pm. any Ideas on tunes?
  19. I have a couple long trips coming up, and decided I wanted to put the stock mufflers back on. A quieter ride == better rider endurance. First off, I'd forgotten how good she sounds with the stock pipes. Not throaty and race-car like, but strong and powerful. Sneaky fast. Secondly, I'd forgotten how hard it is to judge shift points with the stock pipes. I really didn't learn to ride her hard until I'd put on the Road King mufflers and could hear the engine wind up. Today, following a pair of Harleys, I couldn't hear when I reached the rev limiter. Not that it matters so much when you have a couple slow pokes in front of you, but a few times I let them ride ahead a bit so that I could zoom out. If you are new to the RSV/RSTD world and have come from V-twins, I think you ought to try some louder pipes so you know how to rev it higher than the twin. Third, I had to relearn to start my bike first so that I could hear it running. LOL I like the F-1 sound the RKs give me, no doubt. They will be going back on between trips. But for now, I'm digging the stock pipes! Anyone else return to the stock pipes? Dave
  20. Question for all you over the hill riders and campers. This question is for men and women. As you all know, as we get older, sometimes we have to get up in the night to visit the privy. Where do you go at in the middle of the night? Do you walk to the outhouse or carry a port-a- john or what? Boy--can't wait to hear the comments on this one. I'm asking for it I know so have fun,but would like some answere's also. Trying to talk the wife into camping again on the bike.
  21. Recently I split the fairng to install Sat Radio & GPS. I removed the tape deck to make a storage pocket and installed a 3 way spliiter for the aux connection. What I found out was that I could hear my Sat Radio fine until I plugged the audio cord into my GPS and then I could not hear the Sat Radio. Is there no way I can listen to SatRadio and have the GPS vocie over when turns come up? Anyone have a similiar experience / fix for this.
  22. So being on the bike now for 2 1/2 months, and it's a 2005 with 31,000 KM (Canada eh!), what signs or issues would I feel, hear or experience about the Carbs and in Synch or out of Synch? IS this really a do it yourself project? and cost of the necessary tools/equipment?
  23. I went back to stock exhaust, unfortunatley one of the muffler gaskets is leaking and I have a trip coming up and might not have time to get a replacement shipped. my question is: I cant hear the leak but I can feel it. will i damage anything by riding anyway. thanks for the help
