  1. I am going on a late summer ride to PA.my neighbour and is buds have organized a 1000k Ride.I am really looking forward to this.Staying at Gunner's in St Marys' on Saturday night.I hear there are great road out there.Anything I should look out for.I will post pics aftyer the ride. Ray:fingers-crossed-emo
  2. I need some help. I am trying to diagnose a problem that just developed with out having to tear the engine apart looking for something that I don't know what I am looking for. Yesterday, I was on the freeway going about fifty to sixty mph, getting up to speed. While at that speed, I heard a sound that SEEMS to be coming from the clutch and/or water pump area. It kind of sounds like loose metal rattling around. Pretty loud. Maybe a sound that it would make if it was starving of coolant or oil. When I get up to 70 mph, it seems to stop, although I can't tell if I just can't hear it because of the wind. This morning I took her out and the sound goes away when I pull in the clutch. But while the clutch is disengaged, if I rev the engine I still hear the noise. I hear no noise at all when it is idling in the driveway or going slowly. It shifts gears fine. I'm thinking it could be a water or oil pump issue and/or a clutch issue. I just don't know. I know I probably haven't given you enough to go on yet... but any ideas or things that I can check would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! 1998 Royal Star TC XVZ13AT I really thank you for your time and thoughts!! Mike Rice texasrices
  3. Have 1993 Venture the CB comes on it transmitts and receives, but the volume is so low you can hardly hear it. Have checked all connection they are fine. Check coax cables they are fine. When you turn on the CB hear it come on but volume is very low any ideas:mytruck1:
  4. So now come the questions, first when I start out from a stop I hear a high pitched whine, something like a brake pad rubbing, but as I go I guess the noise of the engine drowns it out. Second, when I come a complete stop and place the bike in neutral to park it, when i let out the clutch I hear something like a grinding. Deep not high. So I love this new bike way to much to let any of this be a bummer, but I need some help. I can diagnose my Virago but still new to the RSTD. Any help will be great, PS does anyone know a Andy in Pine Valley CA, that used to have a 05 RSTD. The former owner has almost all the repair notes for the first 61k on this bike. Thanks again, Viragofan
  5. Happy Birthday Dad!!! Hope you have a great day. Can't wait to hear about your trip. Love ya Baby Tater
  6. We had the privilege tonight to attend the full dress rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with Jan & David Harris [utadventure] The concert is dedicated to the men and women of the U.S. forces, past and present. To hear the Hymn of the Republic sung by these people was very uplifting,I shall always remember it!
  7. As Robin call's it.On our way home from a nice 130 mile ride. We were about 5 miles from home, coming up on a 4 way. We had a yellow flashing light, the cross road had a stop sign. An old gezzer about 85 to 90 years old, can barely see over the steering wheel. He came to a complete stop.He is on our right, both of us are looking right at him.He never looked to his right or left, just straight ahead. He sits there at least 2-3 seconds. I'm thinking because he's not moving he must have seen us. NOPE,he pulls out, heads staight across our path. All I can say is thank god for the trike kit.I locked them up good. All you can hear is screeching tires and the smell of rubber. with all that noise he still doesn't look our way.Maybe a good thing he didn't,he may have panicked and hit his brakes.we would have T boned him for sure. The trike kit kept us up. I'm sure we would have gone down without it. All in all it was a very nice ride.
  8. Several months ago I added the Stebel electric 130db horns. I wired them thru a relay. I can hear and feel the relay clicking. So 1st looking for the horn fuse. Any thoughts welcome.
  9. Last night I had the VR idling (fast- 2000) for about 20 minutes while I fiddled with the headlight alignment and it boiled over. It has idled for longer than that in the past without boiling. The outside temp was about 66F so was probably not a factor. Could not hear the fan going so that is likely the cause of the problem. Did not find anything in the Tech Library and the search will not accept fan as a keyword so anything in particular I should know about troubleshooting this issue?
  10. Ok here's the problem. When I turn up the volume to about 15 on the radio control, that's about as high as I need to go without being too loud in my headsets. At the same time my wife has to turn hers( the rear control) to max to be able to hear at all when we are out riding. I thought it might be in the helmet but it does this with different helmets. I've even taken one helmet and hooked it up to the front, adjusted the volume to where it almost too loud for me, unhooked it and plugged it in to the rear, and still have to turn it to max to be able to hear anything. This is on a 09 RSV. I thought it might be in the connections in the fairing, so I took them all apart, inspected , cleaned, put on some dielectric grease, but the problem remains. Really don't want to take it back to the stealer, I've been burned too many times! I guess I need also to mention, it's not got anything to do with the brand of headsets since I've tried IMC, Edsets, and some really cheap brands. The result is always the same. Anyone else had this problem???? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  11. HILLBILLYFIED! Do you hear the banjos??? Their first "S'Mores"
  12. My first ride of the year the class system was working fine, and then i had the error show up so I did the solder contacts on the class display head. Reassembled it, I could hear a click from the back when I used the class panel but compressor wouldnt run,and then got the e2 error. i really didnt know what it was but had a look at the compressor unit and found it had puked out oil everywhere over license plate etc. So i ordered a replacement compressor unit from ebay and installed yesterday, same issue, the class panel comes up normally but when i select front or back and adjust pressure i hear a solenoid click once but no compressor running and then after a minute the e2 error comes on. What am I missing, is there another componenet that is faulty? or did I get another compressor that doesnt work? Thanks in advance for any help, brian
  13. My 07 has 1500 miles on it and yesterday I noticed a noise that sounds like the old dry speedometer in the old cars. I notice it most when I slow down but if I listen closely I can hear it riding around town. I really would like to take it on a 150 mile ride later today to meet the kids for Mother's Day supper but now I'm not sure. I jacked it up and spun the tire and didn't hear it. Any ideas?
  14. For those that have had both RSV and GW,, I find the one complaint I have on the RSV is the intercom.. It seems to have a faint hiss all the time, and it very hard to hear or use at freeway speeds. Under 55mph it is only ok.. Is the GW intercom any better?
  15. I have an 06 Black Cherry RSV and the gentlemen I bought the bike from did not like the long dual antennas so he either cut them off or got shorties to fit under the trunk. He never used the CB so didn't know if it worked. I of course want the long antennas and the CB to work. With the current short antennas I can hear from other CBs but not transmit. Any ideas if this is due to the inadequate antenna or could it also be a CB problem? Thanks for any insight I can get. Mongo
  16. You seen any butterflies with large beautiful wings lately ? If so, I'm sure everyone would love to hear about it... :rotf:
  17. Hi I am replacing my rear tire on my 2001 RSV and would really like to hear some new opinions on what tires to consider. Thank you Bert:confused:
  18. Has anyone bought gold lately? I never have, but am thinking about it. Maybe anywhere from 10-20 ozs. Like many other buyers it would be a hedge against run-away inflation. Comments would be welcome. I'd rather hear advise from members on this board than some self serving dealer that I don't know from Adam....
  19. Ok guys my intercom system on 92 1300 seem to have stopped working. cords plugged in can hear it very low, the volume will not come up and when i turn off the intercom its like it has no affect can still hear small amount of volume through the helmet. I just put two new JM lower cables on and still no sound and you can not even talk through the system at all.
  20. My pipes arrived today along with a few other goodies. Cannot wait to get them on. I believe I hear air tools in my near future
  21. In early April, on a bike???? I've made a few memories from following up on some old country and truck driving tunes I used to hear when I was a kid. (and still love to hear, Satelite Radio rocks) I plan on going to Luckenbach, TX at the end of March, heading back through NM, and maybe visiting an old friend that moved to Colorado Springs a few years ago. I see Wolf Creek Pass is in the neighborhood, so I thought I'd see if that top load of chickens were still laying next to that tunnel. But I don't want to bash my MRSV into the side of the feed store in downtown Pagosa Springs. So, how are the road around there in early April? Later, Scooter Bob
  22. Now, something to class up this website a notch! THIS IS TRULY A BEER BOTTLE BAND--IT WILL SURPRISE YOU. Ya gotta hear this beer bottle band!!! [ame= ] [/ame] Mike G in SC
  23. Cant' believe there were no posts about the National Anthem last night. That chick left out a whole verse. Sad state when we are so tuned out we don't even hear it.
  24. With all the white stuff flying around here, I thought I would take this opprotunity to save some of my LP albums I collected in the 60s and 70s to my computer. These records have been in storage for 30 years. This is good stuff. Been looking forward to this for quite some time now because I have songs by artists you don't ever hear any more. Drug out my old player, found some adapters and the software, ready to begin..... For some strange reason none of those songs sound quite as good as I remember them sounding. And I realized why there are a few artists you never hear any more. Really disapointing. A few of the songs brought back great memories, but the rest.......
  25. I was not sure where to post this, but I thought I should report on my new gps. I took a couple of cross country trips with my TomTom. I could barely see it, and could never hear it. It quit working last fall, so for Christmas I got myself a Garmin Nuvi 295w. Its big advantage is a head phone jack. Which allows me to run it through the stereo system. Price about $90. I also got a mini sd cart ($12) and a handle bar mount from ebay ($14) head phone adaptor ($3). I loaded about 2000 songs. I went for a test drive and it worked as expected. Set the music playing and when it comes time for a turn it cuts out the music and blares the instructions out of the speakers. (instructions louder than the music, you will hear them). It has an orientation sensor, so you can set it vert or horz. ( hope to attach pics). It was there smart phone, and still has some of the smart phone features. It has a camera, (picture of what waits anyone foolish enough to enter my yard) web browser. after test drive: Pros. Can hear instructions. I could see it well, it mounts on a ball and socket joint, so if the sun blocks it out, just tilt it a little bit. Winter sun is not as bright a summer sun, but I could always see it well enough. Cons. Like any thing that does it all, it does not do anything as well. The biggest thing is, when it is playing music, it is VERY slow. Soon learned if you want to change address, first stop the music. It is not a great web interface, but I was able to check my email over the wi fy at my house. The music player is a little tough to get used to, but it did work. Several times it has locked up and I had to remove the battery to restart, since it does work I am assuming this is a software problem, hoping for an update. Camera see attached photo For the money spent, so far I am very satisfied. I hope this helps George
