  1. My wife and I and another buddy were heading up to Gay Michigan and saw a silver venture just outside of Rockland. It was heading south on hwy 45. Anyone ? Richie R
  2. First the sightings. Took a wonderful ride up in the Thumb of Michigan yesterday and on the way up saw two MKII south of Vasser in the roadside park on M15. Farther up MKII heading south on Vasser Rd just south of Wisner. MKII on M25 in Owendale. MKII south of Caseville on M25. MKII North of caseville on M25. Then another MKII parked at the Grindstone Bar in Grindstone. I spent the night with a friend in Grindstone. On the way back today lost count on how many MKII I saw heading North into the Thumb. Saw NO second Gens. Must not of been able to keep up. Now for the MUCH MORE. From Caseville to Port Austin which runs along Lake Huron beautiful Women in bikinis everywhere. What a scenic ride for these poor old eyes. Would still be up there but the darn Daughter kept calling me all night wanting to know how early I was leaving to get her and bring her home, she wanted to come home. So I get up early this morning, she's not answering her phone so I head straight home (not along lake shore) see just hundreds of bikes heading up, get home , call her to tell her I'm coming to get her, AND SHE DON'T WANT TO COME HOME!!! They are having a Birthday party for her friend where she was staying and wants to stay. I could of been setting on the deck at Duffy's in Caseville sipping a beer and admiring the scenery. It's not everyday you can see so much scenery setting in one spot. No I didn't take no pictures (camera would of melted). I just appreciate the scenic beauty God put on this Earth for us all to enjoy. Oh to be 25 again (I could ride longer)

  10. Had a great day today. Beautiful weather, and took my 17 year-old son on his first ride along with my two brothers. He took the MSF course 2 weekends ago and passed with flying colors, and then got his M endorsement from the DMV on Thursday. We started off with meeting some fellow riders from our church at a Starbucks in Seal Beach, and then the 4 of us headed south on Pacific Coast Highway about 25 miles or so to Laguna Beach. Cut over to the freeway for a stop at an accessories shop before heading home. Matthew did a great job and I am really proud of him. He was on the 1988 Honda NX 250 I picked up about 3 weeks ago. Great little bike for a starter and beyond. We're planning a ride further up the coast next weekend for an overnight camping trip.
  11. Been a while since I've posted, "life" gets in the way. Gayle and myself are heading to Waikiki for a couple of weeks next week. Lots of things to do in 2 weeks but just wondering if anyone has been and has a suggestion of those not to miss places or things to do. Bike shop is right next door to were we are staying so that is on the list. We are 2 blocks from Waikiki beach, walking distance to Diamond head and looking forward to getting away. 8 more:draming: Hal
  12. Just a quick shout to those following the travels of our own Wes 0778. I met him in Dayton TX and rode with him back to our house, as he was coming from Sulphur LA after spending the night with BoomerCPO. Walt gets the Brass Cahonies award as he rode through some lousy weather heading West. The temperature just kept dropping and by the time we got to our house it was 37 degrees and windy as hell the whole time. I was frozen from riding the 80 miles there and back, and you all know how well insulated I am
  13. One of the WNY gang is trading in his 1100 V STAR and picking up a 1600 Kaw NOMAD this morning from Pioneer motorsports.....Wonder who that might be ?... 15. No real agenda for my wife and I...prolly going to ferry across from Victoria to Port Angeles in a day or so. From there we are heading south on the 101. This was day one: http://members.shaw.ca/rsxer/trip.jpg Hanging out in Vancouver for a couple days...
  16. In a few days we, and 4 other couples, will be heading to SW WI for a week of crucid, up-and-down roads. One RSV, 3 wings, and a Buell of some kind. Can't wait to get going. We will be staying near Victory, WI, and riding both sides of the Mississippi in the area. Just wondering if any of you have any "don't miss" roads, parks, eat spots, or anything else that you would like to recommend for us. We have some tentative routes planned out, but they are subject to change or being completely thrown out for other ideas. Thanks in advance. Larry
  17. You know the old saying "best to learn from other's mistakes than your own", especially when it comes to bikes. Heading off for a weekend bike trip later today so I had to switch to my normal windscreen instead of the shorty 4" screen.. And I use a magnetic parts dish to hold the screws. Nice rubber coated magnet under the dish, sits nice on the fender etc.. really nice. And strong.. Remember the old motto "The job ain't done till all the tools are away" lol It stayed there on the fender for about 30 minutes this morning as I was riding around before heading out.. Now THAT's what I call a good magnet..
  18. Saw 2 bikes 1 RSMV and a RSTD Thursday at about 5:00 just east of Cleveland on 90 any body from here they had New York plates thought maybe heading home from the rally never got stopped up in the traffic to have a chance to ask?
  19. The hubby and I are heading out tomorrow to pick up 2 of our sons and their wives and heading to Kentucky/Tennesee for a week!! Can't wait to get the heck out of here! Had a little trouble with our rear tire on Memorial weekend (picked up a nail and ruined it)and the only thing the dealer had was a Dunlop whitewall. So, if you see a 05 Midnight Venture with a whitewall rear tire and a black front one tooling down the road in your area, don't laugh. :crackup:Just give us a wave and know that even though we may look funny, we're still having a ball!!!!
  20. In 44 hours I will be hitting the road to visit Texas for the first time on the bike. I have ridden through it a couple times, hence, coloring the state on my travel map. However, never have I actually ridden around the state to see what it has to offer. Wheels up is scheduled at the end of the work day Friday (OK, hoping to hit the road by 2:00 - but don't tell the boss - especially you Scooter Bob 'cause you know who the boss is). I will be heading from Fond du Lac in the most expeditious manor with expectations of arriving in Keller, TX (in the DFW metroplex) by 6 or 7 am Saturday morning. If you see a red Venture parked in a rest area in the wee morning hours, don't wake the guy on the picnic table with the helmet on. Upon arriving to my brother's house in Keller, I will greet my Bro, his wife and kids, my Dad, and his friend Tom. Dad and Tom are taking 2 days to ride down from Ft. Wayne, IN arriving Friday night. After the greeting, sleeping for 3 or 4 hours will be high on the agenda. Dad, Tom, Scott (the Bro), and I will take off Saturday at about noon heading to San Antonio with a quick stop for a picture in front of W's ranch in Crawford. Should get to SA about 6:00 pm. I will try to call BuddyRich to join us for a beverage down on the Riverwalk Saturday night. Any one else in the neighborhood is also welcome. We are staying at the Crockett Hotel across the street from the Alamo. A tour of the Alamo on Sunday morning and we are off for the hill country. Reservations are made for 2 nights in Leaky. We are all looking forward to riding the twisted sisters and other roads of the hill country. Have heard lots about it. Tuesday morning, Scott will be heading back to Keller (not enough vacation) and Dad, Tom, and I will be heading to Big Bend National Park. We will be riding around there for 2 days until Thursday morning. Staying in a cabin just outside the park in an old ghost town (at least that's how it is billed). Thursday morning, Dad and Tom are heading back north. They generally only ride 500 miles or so a day, so they want to take some extra time to get home. However, that leaves me with 4 days to get to Wisconsin and only being 1 really long day away. HeeHeeHee. Where to go??? Thursday I don't really have any plans. Suggestions?? Friday, I figured heading over to Squidley and Sweetnothing's (if they will have me a bit early) and give them a hand setting up for the open house. I'm not very useful at anything other than making sure the beer is cold; however, I can be coached. Come Saturday, I look forward to greating the wonderful VR folks from down south that arrive to share Brad and Lonna's joy of a new start in Texas. Will need to hit the road about noon to get home at a decent hour on Sunday. I will try to keep this trip thread updated and to add some pics as internet access and time will allow. Give us a wave if you see us passing by. A red Venture, red BMW R1200GS, black Honda Shadow Aero 1100, and some other kind of BMW (don't know exactly what Tom rides). Should be a great week. 5000 miles, 9 days, traveling with family, meeting new friends. What could be better. RR
  21. Heading down to Diamond, MO. Wednesday morning to go to my little sister's wedding this next weekend. Not only do I have to wear a Tux because she made me be in the wedding party, but I also got volunteered to help with getting the dinner put together. My better half and I will be down that there for about a week. Is there anything to go see or do down there? We'll be about an hour or so west of Branson. Thought about going there one day. I think there's a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum there. Just about anything would be better that Precious Moments Inspirational Park in Carthage that I got suckered into going to go see the last time I was down there. Anybody available for a tour guide?
  22. i have two cousins going to Daytona bike week later this month and are trailering their bikes down south. they are looking for a safe place to park a pickup truck and enclosed trailer for a couple of weeks. they will be heading down I-75. can anyone out there in the southern States help them with a place to park? cheers, Scott
  23. Hey All was just wondering, for years now I've wanted to do a Butt Burner 1500 (for thoses who dont know http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/getdocument.cfm?DocID=1) But never to seem to have had the right bike for it. Couple years back when I got my 86 it had sat for almost 7 years so after about 2 grand of work I did get it running well and had really thought about doing one, then the stater went so I rebuilt it, then the shock went to poop so I replaced that and kinda figured it just wasnt a smart plan. Now last year I sold my baby *snif*snif* and got my wife#2 05 midnight so I think this is it lol. After all my ramblings I am looking to see if anyone would be interested in riding along. The wife isnt looking for 1500 milles in 36 hours so I am flying solo. Would be leaving from Traverse City area heading up over the mighty mac and heading west towards South Dakota (750 miles out) then turn and head back, not much of a party'er lol looking to run pretty hard maybe finish the day with a good meal and beer but think it should be a blast thinking Juneish but am kinda open so if you may wanna run a butt burner lol let me know!!
