  1. I was working hard outside with my neighbours son:dancefool:
  2. Need advice before I do anything. I ride a 2006 RSV with 12k miles. 3rd owner. Getting ready to leave work today and I jumped on the bike to take off. Put the key and it won't turn. I had tge bike locked. Had to move it back and forth and pulled the key in and out and it finally turned. I did wash the bike last night but no hard water spray. Thoughts? Replace, WD40,
  3. Has anybody got a downloadable parts manual for a 2005 RSTD the people here dont do any work on this type of bike and its sometimes hard to explain over the phone the part needed much easyer to quote PT/No Thanks Terry
  4. Got my seats and bag bolts via ups today. I wanted to publicly thank Rick for the great work and speedy turn around time. I sent the seats last Tuesday and got them back today. They were in town on Friday according to the tracking #. The seats look great! You would be hard pressed to notice a change without sitting on them. No real ride time on them yet but for the short trip today they felt great! Thanks Rick! Frank
  5. My choke level on my 89 VR moves to the left really, really hard. Any suggestions as to what I might spray into the cable. My 1st guess would be WD 40?
  6. For those that have had both RSV and GW,, I find the one complaint I have on the RSV is the intercom.. It seems to have a faint hiss all the time, and it very hard to hear or use at freeway speeds. Under 55mph it is only ok.. Is the GW intercom any better?
  7. After install and before replacing outer cover i tried pulling the clutch lever to see if all was working correctly is it normal at this stage to see nothing moving ie plates moving pressure plates moving. The clutch lever is hard as to squeeze in i reinstalled the original setup and still hard as way harder than before pulling down have i done somthing wrong here.I have not put completly back together yet as i dont want to destroy gasket untill sure. Awaiting a reply Thanks Terry
  8. Ok guys trying to plan out my ss1000 for this summer, date still kinda open wondering if anyone would be interested in riding along. Looking at leaving traverse city Mi around 6am heading to I-75 then south to Crittenton Ky where I will be turning around and heading back. Looks like about 19 or 20 hours. Gonna be hard and fast and not your usual site seeing cruise but should be a blast. But if anyone is interested please let me know.
  9. I have a 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic that i would like to mount hard saddle bags on. I am wondering if my current mounts and supports will be fine to mount say tour deluxe or venture bags on. I currently have soft leather bags but like i said would like to go to hard bags and possibly a trunk, again maybe a venture trunk. Just curious if anyone has attempted this and what modifications if any were required. any info would be great!
  10. Does anyone know of a way to clean up the passengers hard plastic armrest if it is scuffed up and therefore off color from the rest of it?
  11. After I did the carb sync, the bike now vibratres quite bad upon hard acceleration in any gear. Any ideas?
  12. Ok I have researched a little bit. Definetly am finding things that support this being a possible bike that is hard to find. Would make a neat little project. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/2235914172.html
  13. I just received a pair of fleeced lined Cordura Nylon chaps from www.coloradochaps.com and I am impressed. The chaps are custom made from your measurements, thigh and inseam. Instead of a typical belt they have a velcro strap that loops over your existing belt. I guess they assume you'll be wearing one. While it is not frigid here right now I did take a short ride with them on and they are very "toasty". They are easy to put on. Just put your foot and leg through the top and pull the zipper to your ankle. I've never cared for leather chaps and they always seemed too hard to get on. And with my short legs I could never find leather that fit right. I thought I would take a chance on these and I'm glad I did. Lori at coloradochaps.com is very good to work with. If you're cold, give them a try. Dennis
  14. Snow 75% Gone , No ice fishing , no snowmobiling, etc Wanted to take the FJR for a ride But it was raining to hard
  15. He'll be 14 in February, so it is a good time to get him started on motorcycles. So, as of yesterday evening he owns his own 1993 Suzuki DR125E. It's been ridden hard, and needs a lot of work, but it runs good and we don't have to worry about breaking anything on it. Not too bad for $400. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/rentalguy1/012-1.jpg

    Found a 2002 midnight

I found a 2002 midnight, I'm wondering how hard would and can it be done, to replace the seats with pillow top seats drivers and passenger and the back rest on the passenger, how hard is that to remove...
  17. Hey everyone, two months after I sold my Road Star Silverado and since I've already owned all other incarnations of the Venture, I'm back in the market again. I originally thought I'd search out a MM. Very hard finding one though as the few I've been able to search out either the owner really thinks he has something and has priced it accordingly or I have to travel too far to kick the tires. I did find a 99' only a couple hours away that has 43K on the odo and has quite a few desired after market add ons and with a fairly desirable Silver and Burgundy two tone paint, and at $5,200.00 a pretty decent price. The reason why I like the MM, is I really like the color and you don't see too may of em' around. Are the 2000 MM really that hard to locate for a decent price, or should I just forgo that Idea and settle for the aforementioned 99'? I know it's more of a personal taste for the color and that is entirely up to me, but what are your ideas on what's out there and prices? is the 99' on the money?
  18. Just a Sportster, bike for around town, a bit of commuting and short solo rides. Kept the Venture!! I'm going to have to do something about that rock hard stock seat though.
  19. Since my co worker just got creamed by a cage that ran a sop sign, I have been thinking about the scenario a lot. Enough that even though the fall colors were just stating to get near peak and the weather was perfect for a ride, I did not go out. If a bad situation presents itself you have a better chance if you have at least thought about it some before it happens. So the question is; If you are going down the road and and you see a car pulling out in front of you, and there is just no way to avoid getting hit, no room behind the car to swerve to the right and oncoming traffic or something else blocking a swerve to the left, what is the best option? Hit the brakes hard which will slow you down and cause you to hit the side of the offending car and get launched into the handle bars, or get on the gas hard to try to get your body past the point of impact even though the car will still hit the back end of the bike and likely knock you down at a higher rate of speed? Or some other option. I know the best option is to not put yourself in that situation but sometimes $hit happens. I do realize that every encounter is different, and the snap decision will have to be made at that moment in time.
  20. As a couple of you may know, I was laid off my job Christmas week 2009. I have tried everything I could think of to find a job with almost zero luck. I worked a few weeks on an assembly line putting together electronics items for military hummers. Very hard work... very low pay... I just could not find anyone who was willing to hire a 55yr old, over qualified, over experienced, over eager medical imaging engineer. So I decided to make a go of it on my own. The opportunities were good, but the bureaucracy was greater. How do you float a 4 million dollar liability bond when you are unemployed? You don't. So that cut my opportunities by 90%. Still I managed to find enough work to keep my head above water. I had secured a contract to work for a local small service company that has kept the lights on and food on the table. Today that contract turned into a full time job with the company! It is far from the six figures I was making but will certainly turn into an adequate salary. With this will come medical insurance and the ability to allow my Navigator to retire. Just like so many others, it has been a hard 10-12 months. Finally, some breathing room...
  21. I have a 500 gig western digital hard drive that took a fall while I was in Afgahnistan does anyone on the site have the whatever it takes to get the data off of the platters I can tell you this that the motor locked solid and the platters both have a white square mark that showes where the heads were are supposed to park Thanks Jeff
  22. Looking hard at a new 665 to replace both existing nuvi and xm radio. Question is: Do I need a "hard connect" between the 665 and bike (though AUX input?) OR will it transmit directly through the Yamaha FM radio as I do with my existing XM radio? If I need a connecting cable, does it come with the unit or ? THANKS!
  23. Saturday I was riding with a group (6 bikes) on a trip and we were in Wilke-Barre PA and met a bike and the guy was waving to us and looking at our bikes and wasn't paying attention and slamed into the back of a car. Thank god it was in the city and he wasn't going fast. He lost a little meat on his leg and I'm sure he will be sore but was ok for the most part. The bike took a hard hit on the throttle and brake cables and lines and a few scrapes but wasn't to bad. We waited for him to get help and went on our way. He was awful lucky not to be hurt worse. The whole thing happeded right in front of me.
  24. Ok folks, now I got the high bid on the headsets. NAybody think they can outbid me. What the heck its for the kids and I havent made a donation yet this year. thanks dragonrider for all your hard work David
  25. Hello everyone My wife found this sight and told me to let y'all know where I've been. For those who know me and the ones that don't. I'm doing as well as I can be. On 2-21-2010 I had a stroke. The side effects from this is that I have no life history memory from berth tell 2-23-2010 and now I am also having seizures. The worst thing about this is I have Six children and Ten grand-kids that I don't remember. This is very hard on me not remembering people and things and the Doctor won't let me drive either. I'm working on getting the seizures under control. Maybe then the doc will let me ride. Well all this typing in kind of hard for me to do right now with having to learn where all the keys are . So I'll stop for now. Thanks George C.
