  1. Just took me about 45 minutes to hand dismount and mount car tire, pressure maybe got to 50. Took a drill with wire brush and smoothed out and cleaned rim. Got some real slimey goop from tire shop and went very easy. Now hard part getting them balanced and put back on, then ride it like it was stolen.
  2. Anybody have a lead on where a guy might find replacements for the hard bags on my '96 RS TD? Had someone rear-end me at a red light, destroyed one and scratched up the other. Really I could get by with just the new lid for the left one...
  3. I have some minor scratches on my helmet visor that I'd like to try to polish out. Does anybody know what might work? I'd like to try before I buy a replacement, so I wanna keep it cheap. Seems I remember hearing somebody say they used toothpaste on hard plastic, but I'm a little afraid it would be too abrasive and leave it scratched worse. Any thoughts? Thanks. Bert
  4. I can start my 84 in 1st gear but cannot get it into neutral! I just repaired the shift pit problem I was having and now no neutral. Hard to get out of the garage in gear....
  5. This isn't a Trans Am Forum but there seems to be vast knowledge on this site. Since I bought my 91 Trans Am with a 305 Tune Port - it is hard to start after it sits for two days. If I pump the gas some it will eventually start - once it starts it seems good. Then - about two weeks ago it started to act like the fuel filter was plugged. So I replaced the filter and the MAT sensor. Seems to run better but still runs like it has bad gas. At a stop sign - I drop it into first (it is an auto) and drive it hard through the gears and it runs great. Any ideas?
  6. Hi I have read several posts about the K&N air filters. I am assuming the only advantage to going to a K&N type filter is that it is reusable and thus in the long run cheaper than replacing the stock filter over the life of the bike. Is there any other advantage? Besides all the hubris and claims, does the K&N actually have an impact on HP all by itself? I find that quite hard to believe so if anyone has any actual hard, factual information they would like to share I would be happy to hear it. Thanks in advance Chris
  7. Weather Channel says yesterday and last nights storms are the worst outbreak of tornado's for the month of March, and its only 3 days in. Hope everyone made it through ok. We only had one here in Ga, but it was on the ground for a long time. Indiana and Kentucky took hard hits, praying for those hit hard and hoping for no loss of life. This has been a freaky winter, I don't ever remember weather like this.
  8. I just bought a 1999 venture has 37K on it I'm having an issue with the front end being VERY heavy in turns, I actually push the opposite way because of the weight it's like I'm fighting it . it also SEEMS to wobble slightly whe turning sharp at very slow speeds It's hard to explain. Does not seem to be anything loose on the axle etc...rubber is Avon with plenty of tread and looks fine HELP!!!!!!!!!please!!!!!!!
  9. just bought an 84 VXZ12: 1. need to remove the seat for a patch job - front lifts up a bit but i can't seem to get the seat off... please help 2. would like to take the hard bags off the sides and back to get the locks cleaned up and properly clean the bike... but can't seem to get them off either... please help.
  10. Watch out for those nuts, hard candies, and other such items which can break teeth. I didn't, and have been in pain all weekend. Tylenol doesn't do much to help. I'll be standing at my dentist's door at 8am Monday. Hopefully it can be capped or crowned and I won't loose it.
  11. I keep trying to get used to some things on my bike but I think I should repair the problem instead of trying to get used to. My brake lever is very hard to get the bike to stop. Pulled my calipers and made sure all pistons are working fine. The next step is to change the pads and see if anything is wrong with the master. I really have to squeeze hard to the point where I hate using the front brake. I cured the notchiness by loosen ing the pinch bolt snd lubing all hinge points. So what is left
  12. Is there anything to do to the stock mufflers to get some noise or can the baffles be removed and how hard is it
  13. Sears has the Die Hard battery listed as a AGM with the acid pac you add yourself. I thought all AGMs came sealed?? 108 bucks a pop but as good as Die Hards used to be years ago I was wondering. Yeah I know there I go thinking again!! I'll get back in my corner.
  14. So all warm season riding was fine and my brake lever reach problem had subsided.here it is again.the lever is too far and also very hard to squeeze. Are there after market levers available that for closer to the grip. I checked and lubed all pivot points again and the lever is just so damn hard to squeeze Am I being a baby?

  16. today went to work no problems. comeing home after about 7 miles of easy riding started to feel clutch was going away, had to pull it all the way to grip hard and had to stomp at shifter to change gears. it would take bike out of gear ok at stops but had hard time getting it into 1'st. then almost home had to keep it in third.( i didnt want to brake shifter stomping it )got home and couldnt get it in neutal till i just put stand down then could move shifter like normal. its too dark to see now but there is no leaks, master is a hair over half in site glass, the fluid should be changed as it looks on the brown side. but i dont know if thats the problem. what do you think? it is 83 venture xvz12tk thanks:confused24:
  17. Is there an easy way to remove my TCI? It looks very hard to get at.
  18. I know a lot of us bike riders are kinda hard of hearing. My case is that and my wife has talked me into taking a hearing test. I have had a problem with this for a while now. To the point that I am having trouble at home and work understanding what people say. It is very embarrassing for me sometimes. I feel so stupid sometimes, but that is what I heard. So my question is for those that are wearing hearing aids and what should I get or do ? Brand, the most comfortable and the ones that really work. My hearing test is next Wednesday at 10:00 am. I will know more then. Just wanting to get a heads up from those who have been there and done this. Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions....... Please type loudly ... Loud pipes do save lives, and also hard on your hearing. Uuuuuh, Whattttt you Sayyy ? Fuzzy
  19. my left saddlebag is in a bind at the rear, it won't open. any suggestins as to how to get it open. I'm in Colorado and my jacket and rainsuit are in there. I push down on the latch as hard as i can while my friend tried to get it aligned. we're stumped. any help would be greately appreciated.
  20. Mounted my new E lll last night. Aired it up left it sit and put it back on bike this morning. Bounced it and then forgot to check air. Rode a little and checked it and it was about 15 lbs low. Then happened to think I forgot to balance the blasted thing. So I thought I have a bottle of Ride-On. I could balance and fix leak at same time. Bright ain't I?? Took it home, let all air out put Ride-On in and aired it back up. Took it for ride to settle Ride-On in. Got about 1/2 mile and it started that dreaded wobble. Got stopped and tire was flat!! Had came completely broke loose from one side of rim. Limped it back home, aired it up and got it to seal. Took it for ride and ended up pushing it pretty hard just to check it. No problems at all and seems to be balanced pretty well. Have no idea how much of the Ride-On I lost. Some of it was splattered on bike but not much. Kind of hard to look in tire. Now I don't know if I can trust the thing or not. I pushed it thru some 30 mph turns this evening at 55 to 60. Hung right in there. (I was Mad and acting stupid) I said acting goo...aww nevermind!!! Think I should just ride it??
  21. Hello, I am new to this site and I just recently purchased a 2005 Royal Star Midnight Venture. My issue is that after riding for a little time, the bike seems hard to get into neutral. Does anyone know what could cause this problem? Thanks in advance for any advise.
  22. Is it possible to have the search feature recognize at least some common TLAs (Three Letter Acronyms). It is real hard to find info on things like HID, CMU, TCI, RLU etc.
  23. I have a 2003 rsv with 64k miles on it , there is a chirping noise coming from the area around the universal joint. I am wondering if anyone has serviced or replaced theirs, what is involved and how hard a job is it?
