  1. Here's some pics of the carb tune going on down at Beer30 and Beer 24/7's shop on friday. The young fella is Jason (bluerstd08) he's easy to spot, since he's younger then the rest of the guys. Had fun and you can see Becky (beer24/7) was busy working while we were there. Margaret
  2. Hi Guys, New member here and I thought I would share a few shots of my Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I've already got some great info from you guys and put most of it to work (AIS disable, Jason's Mod and the "infamous whine issue") I just hope I'm able to contribute back to the site. And now for the pics............... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar001.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar002.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar003.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar004.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar005.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar006.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/RoyalStar007.jpg and a quick bonus pic of my Vintage BMW..... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/OrangeSVT03/BMW001.jpg I also have a quick detach trunk for the RSTD but I dont like it and I didnt put it on for the pics. So you like or dislike??
  3. Here is a few pictures of my rear elite 3 at only 7400 miles, front is down in the wear bars. I won't be going back with these any time soon I'm not sure how you guy's are getting better mileage. Bike 90% ridden two up, tire pressure checked before every ride. 4. A kind word for some guys in Hollister Mo....If you ever blow a clutch in Branson Mo on a Saturday night give the guys at Hollister Cycles a call....went out of the way to get me back up and running.....AND they work on Mondays..... TRIPOD: I'll send you some info when I return to FL on the set ups I have tried with my Tri-Wing/RSMV....tires/air settings and such....after 61K miles I might have most of it sorted....
  5. These look so cool and very stylish. I want to THANK YOU Mike. I will be mailng mine to you asap. I hope you guys like it as much as I do..................Ron Thanks again Mike is EUSA1 and cost 400.00 then ad shipping to your area/
  6. I can't be the only person who lives in the country where DSL, cable, and fiber optics kinds of services are not available. What do some of the rest of you use? I have had an aircard for some time, but my monthly usage has increased to where the 5G is not enough anymore. There is a wifi outfit local to me that would have the best plan as far as rates, speeds and download capacity, but upon investigation these guys have demonstrated themselves to be jerks and they don't even have my business yet. Can't say I'm nuts about signing a contract with them. Does anyone have any experience with satellite internet services? Are there any other options I'm overlooking?
  7. I'm leaving this week on a trip from Texas to Iowa. About 2000 miles round trip. A friend said I could borrow his trailer but after picking it up this weekend I'm having second thoughts. It's a 4x8 utility trailer with a 2x6 lumber floor and 1500 lb capacity. We got the bike up on it (barely) by putting it on diagonally, but it's a real tight fit. The thing that has me spooked is the wheels. Only 4.8x12 tires, although the wheels do have a 5 bolt pattern. I'm just not sure a trailer like this was intended for such a long trip. I'm leaning towards biting the bullet and paying $300 to rent the 5x9 utility trailer that Uhaul rents. What do you guys think? Thanks.
  8. Anybody here work for these guys??
  9. ok im going to wait for skydoc to get better then im sending the calipers out for a fresh rebuild. i tried every thing in the book. i bought a mighty vac flushed the system. new DOT 4 . as thats all the store had on the shelf. took it out for a ride today just up and down my back road here after about a mile of back and forth it locked up again this time 5 ft from my front door. so im lucky there. so my opion is calipers need a rebuild? it must be sticking? sorry to rant here guys and gals too. i will be comming into some money in december due to a uncle who passed on. so a new bike might be in order? but this one will remain with me its gotten to be a chalenge and sooner or later one of us is going to give in LOL
  10. This story appeared in Baggers Magazine. Its part 2 of a series called: Sturgis. Hellride. Is it worth it? Sofar they have posted 3 parts. The jist is that these guys, all professionals, left LA for Sturgis SD, riding long lonely stretches of road in the heat of summer, dodging heat, cows, rain, and traffic. When they got a bit spirited in the mountains of Colorado, something terrible happened. We've all seen videos of riders on the Goldwings, flipping from side to side in the twisties, and dragging pegs all the way. It makes me cringe when I hear that. I never scrape the floorboards...if necessary, I hang-in, decreasing the active lean angle of the bike, but I spent way too many years riding dirtbikes to feel comfortable dragging hard parts on the hard pavement. The bike can lever up, losing traction, or worse, in a blind turn, you might have to chop throttle, and then shaft-drive bikes can rear-dive, and/or increase lean angle and drag MORE metal. So no thanks. MY footboard plates are like new, no scrape marks. No matter what you ride, be careful guys and gals! http://www.baggersmag.com/features/1007_hrbp_baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2/index.html http://image.baggersmag.com/f/features/1007_hrbp_baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2/29187343+pheader_460x1000/1007_hrbp_01_z+baggers_3000_mile_hell_ride_part_2+2009_honda_goldwing_crash.jpg
  11. I'm getting ready to hook up my trailer and am curious about the ball hitch. It appears that when it's snug in the tongue of the trailer that it doesn't tilt (angle) as far as the bike might when taking corners. Do you guys use a ball with a longer shaft than standard or am I just imagining things?
  12. Ok guys hope to get a little, help my brother in law has the vulcan 500 and asked me to do a few maintenance projects on it, well last ride he took she started rattling pretty bad and i am thinking the automatic cam chain tensioner took a poop on it was wondering how rough this is to change out? Read the book and it doesnt seem that bad but wanted opions from guys that may have replace one of these, please let me know any info or advise you guys can thanks so much....
  13. Its time to put this out for all Va riders (or any other state) going to Oberlin OH for Maintenance Day. My tenative plans for the spirited ride to Oh are as follows. Leave Fredericksburg. VA on Friday the 18th at 7:30am and meet up with Venturing Sole at about 8:30am at the usual gas station at the intersection of RT-17 and I-66. I will be riding with Mini-muffin and the Bugfishes. If there is anyone else who wants to join in and ride up with us let me know where to meet you guys. The proposed route is posted below. Just give me a address where to meet you and i'll let you know what time we will be there (+ or -). http://www.mapquest.com/mq/4-UKgTRCJ6 The ending place is the Comfort Inn. Hey Aamcotrans, you still going!!!!!
  14. Ok, I put a Utopia backrest on the bike and I'm wondering where you taller riders have it adjusted. So far, I have it as far down as possible and as far back as I can get it. I'm not sure if I like the thing to be honest. Might take it off the bike before I ride to Oberlin. Maybe a long trip is just the thing I need to decide weather to keep it or not. I've never rode a bike before with a backrest and it's a bit weird to me.
  15. Just seen on the internet about some bad storms(possible tornado) in Ohio. Hope oyu guys are all well up there. David
  16. Sorry guys, but they just don't make 'em this purty anymore. I get comments on her almost daily...mostly Hardly riders. I even have 2 guys that are selling their new Ultras, and buying RSVs. Their words....." I'm just tired of having to put it in the shop every time I turn around." RSVs are getting more popular. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/13thAFMonterey/DSCN4500.jpg
  17. Whats up Al well hope to be riding soon again picking up new ride on Monday from In. new 2008 RSTD see you guy's soon. Star4772

  19. After reading through the post on the online station, it gave me some really good suggestions for songs to download to my MP3. Then I thought it would be a great thread. Be specific on the song name. As you guys recommend them, I'm gonna download the ones I like. Thanks in advance.... Already downloaded lots of CCR, Black Betty, Danger Zone, etc. Keep em coming.
  20. Okay guys I bought another bike and don't need both so I am selling my 1986 Venture. Alot of you guys saw it at the International Meet in Harrison last summer. I want to give you guys a shot before I put it in the paper. I will sell the bike along with the custom built trailer for $3000.00. It has 60,000 miles and I wouldn't be afraid to go anywhere on it. I rode it to Charolette, NC last summer. This is a really nice bike. 22. I'm brand new to the fourm so I thought I would post a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Kyle and I'm from the Richmond, IN area. I ride a red/white Royal Star XVZ13A. I've been riding my Royal Star (named Tanto, cause he looks like an Indian, but he's not!) for about a year now and I can't believe I've never found this site before. I'm still pretty new to the whole moorcycle community (I've been riding for about 5 years, but I've never been involved in any clubs, charity rides, poker runs etc..) and I have lots of questions, but I'll try to pace myself so I don't annoy you guys too much. I would post a picture of Tanto, but I don't have a clue how that would work. So anyway I just wanted to let you guys know a little about me. I hope to see you around! --Kyle
  23. I just got a new ipod for my Bday and want to mount it to the bike and keep it in a case that can easily be taken off who has what and what works best out there? Thanks guys and ride safe out there please.
  24. Hi guys. I have a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe and have just ordered the Complete Bub 4 into 2 exhaust system for it. This system replaces the head pipes as well as the slip-ons. Bub doesn't say anything about re-jetting, but my dealership has told me that I don't need to re-jet unless i change the head pipes, which I will be doing. Because of what my dealership said, I contacted the guys at Baron, and they tell me that I shsouldn't have to re-jet unless I change the intake. I told them that the only change that I planned to make to the intake was to use K&N elements. They told me that even with the change of elements along with changing the whole exhaust, they still would not recommend re-jetting. Also, I can't seem to find a jet kit out there for a 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe anyway. I am a little un-easy with the conficting information. I trust the guys at Baron because they have alot of experience with the Royal Star, but at the same time, I want to be sure my mistress doesn't burn up from running to lean. Do any of you guys have a 2005 or newer RSTD with the Complete Bub 4 into 2 system? If so, what did you do or what has your experience been. Regards, Tony 2005 Royal Star Tour Deluxe
  25. Hi All I am having problem with I think the charging system. Here are the symptoms - Bike seems to be running fine but my volt meter (kuryakyn) shows a drop in voltage while riding. It reads around 12 then drops to 0 - blinks off and on afew times the 2 red lights will come on then the 2 yellow then goes back to reading around 12. again bike seems to run fine. Last week after a short ride the bike would not start so replaced the battery thinking that was it. So now I am thinking stator or regulator. What do you guys think?? Bill
