    Thunderbolt for PCs?

Hey looks like Apple's fast Thunderbolt port is arriving in the Windows world pretty soon: http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/12/26/thunderbolt.said.ready.to.go.for.april/ Lots of hardware standards like firewire and usb are shared across platforms. This one is fast though, and once the 'winders guys' have it in their machines, we will most likely see lots of new hardware using it.
  2. Watch this video from Russia. http://www.wimp.com/inrussia/ I would be changing my pants.
  3. My buddy is making this device that flashes either a light bar or a 20 watt LED that mounts inside your tail light assembly. What do you guys think is more effective? Do you like the idea of having the LED in your tail light or do you prefer a separate flashing light? Thanks, Ray
  4. Please tell me this is not you out there today....... http://twitter.com/#!/BarkingMadSpeed/status/141258363051843584/photo/1 you know everyone loves the parking guys
  5. I recently swapped the rear gears to the VMax set and WOW what a great improvement in accelleration. What would be the next investment that you guys would recommend to take it to the next level of performance?
  6. Thought you guys might get a kick out of this.
  7. THANK YOU! ... for all your efforts to keep the peace on this site ... you're doing a GREAT job! I say this as, since getting my Wing, I have been spending a fair amount of time on a "wing forum" (not mentioning which one) ... and I just can't believe all the flaming and bikkering going on there ... it's crazy ... there's at least 3 guys who are constantly at each other's throats ... kinda hilarious to read their posts as they "battle it out" LOL but it sure is nice to not see that here!
  8. I am getting ready to change brakes on the RSV , Just wanted to get some input on what kind of brakes to buy. What would you guys suggest ?
  9. On our way to the 911 ride last week we were riding with five HDs. While on the QEW near Niagara Falls, doing 70 mph I had pointed to somthing on the road with my left foot and when I put my foot back on the floor board something felt funny. I looked down and there was my shifter sitting on top to the floor board. Off to the shoulder we go. Now picture all these Harley guys standing around and laughing while I quickly removed a bolt from my side cover and put my shifter back in place. Thank you venturerider.org without you I would have never known how to make that road side repair. But I still can't believe it happened. I check that bolt all the time and I have 80,000 kms on the bike. So guys, be warned, keep an eye on that shifter bolt. Not to be out done, two of the HDs developed some pretty nasty oil leaks while on this trip too.
  10. My VR is the first bike that I have ever owned that has sound and intercom capabilities. How do you go about getting sound and a mike in to your helmet? I use a 3/4 helmet and my wife is currently using a 1/2 but she may be switching to a full. I have no experience here. I can see ear buds working but what about the mike? I see that Ebay has many different types of headsets available but I dont know what is good or bad. What would you do? Ray
  11. "Drafting Guys Over 60" This is funny& obviously written by a former soldier... New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60! I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing bass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year old's off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 55. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill somebody that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile.. An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical son-of-a-gun. If captured, we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, Away from the screaming and yelling. They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, Nor did I ever do any pushups After completing basic training. Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head. These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way. Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off old buggers with attitudes and automatic weapons, Who know that their best years Are already behind them. HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...In menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night! Send this to all of your senior friends...it's in big type so they can read it.
  12. I wish to thank each and every member who posted a Happy Birthday on my Facebook wall today! It just overwhelms me to think of just how many great friends I have made here at VR!!! How you guys knew is beyond me as the site B'Day list seems to skip me every year, not to mention that the site was down today! I love you guys!!!!!
  13. I have been riding with my daughter for a while and heard some complaints about rear end soreness. My wife cant take it and its stopping her from enjoying the ride with me. I plan on getting a new seat but have heard tips from my buddys to tap her when a large pot hole is in the path. this way she can raise her butt abit. Ive been told to beef up the rear shock and change the fork oil. Combined we are 520lbs and I think we are over the max but I dont bottom out although the dips andholes really shake the bike. Is weight loss the only option ? Id like to hear from the big guys. Thin guys with dull humor need not respond .LOL Its like telling a short guy to grow taller in order to reach the ground better.
  14. It was great riding the bike today! It has been a while so the day was absolutely perfect! We got to meet Bumblebee this morning. Kevin had other commitments so could not ride up to Charlotte with us. Hopefully next time he can! I bet you can't guess what color his bike is! Keith, one of the guys who works with George, rode up with us and had a great time meeting the guys! Lunch was great at McCoy's, it is definitely a place to keep in mind to eat when we are in Charlotte! We stopped at McLeod Farms on the way home to get peaches and a peach enchilada but the line was so long I had to be satisfied with a picture to prove that we were there! Thanks Mark for putting this together! It was good seeing everyone! http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%2020110716%20Charlotte%20ME/#!cpZZ1QQtppZZ20
  15. I have been using my MP3 or radio on the bike...Installed the XM radio from Walmart and the payment of $11.07 per month ( I did have to pay $15 extra for something) and my 50s 60s 70s music plays 24/7. I highly recommend. I know some of the guys and gals have been enjoying this for a long time but at least I'm now on board.
  16. Ive always been fascinated by these flyers that can fly 5 feet off the ground spraying crops. These guys fly under power lines and in nasty weather and take their lives in their hands. There is a new series that was shot here in Saskatchewan about the cropdusters called Dust UP and I find it pretty interesting. I thought some of you guys might like to see it too, the episodes of Dust UP are here on the History Channels Website. I hope they dont have the website blocked to people outside Canada, it seems to be happening more and more with webcasts. http://www.history.ca/video/default.aspx Enjoy!!!

Sorry Ive been away from the forum busy with chelby number 2 coming in the next week or so and the army has had me busy. but with this my bike has fallen apart so when the baby gets here ill be busy i hope working on it while im taking family leave from the department all it looks like i need to do is to rebuild my front forks and put on the new rotors i got. would anyone be able to help me on the front end? im completely lost on it, but its great to see ya around on the fourm again so keep your eyes out for the new venture rider coming soon
  18. My wife and I went to Quincy il today and sitting at a stop light we had about 20 bikes, all harleys, pass by. We are on the RSV chilling at the red light and they had the green. I waved as I do to ALL bikes. Not a one would lift a finger, not even to flip us off. They looked at us, then turned there heads. Even the wives on the ones riding 2 up turned their noses up I would hate to thing that a piece of equipment made me have such a complex that I would be ashamed to wave at someone riding something not labeled a harley. Next time I get the chance I think Ill ask one of them hard core harley guys to grab a standard tool set and work on his "hog" cause unless it is old school with a springer front end I am betting it has as many foreign parts as my Yamaha
  19. well i am getting ready to leave for Freebirds MD i will hit the rode at 10:30 am so i should start seeing some of you guys on the rode or at Dons tonight. and safe travels:cool10:
  20. I'm looking at replaceing my front tire with an E'3. I'm running an Avon on the back now, will this cause any problems? Also, where do you guys buy your tires? Thanks for help.
  21. Hey guys i ve read all the search forums and nothing shows for raising the bike. Mine uis the 96 rs . the rear monoshock is horizontal so the leveling links wont work. my prob is that when I get to do some good turns I scrape on my floorboard as well as my year bottom pipe and braket. I am a heavy guys and have been through the shock settings. this is the one setting which feels best. Large holes are a bit rough at high speeds but 60 mph back road cruising is very comfortable. Now before i get people telling me not to treat it like a sport bike! My turns are far from saggressive. or who knows maybe they are . But my buddy with a 96 electra glide takes the same turns with no scrape. Same speed also. What can i do?
  22. I have the Diamond R hidden Hitch and find it a pain hooking up the safety chains. Am I missing some thing or is there another option other than the 2 holes on top of the hitch inside the fender? How do you guys hook your chains on the hitch? I have been thinking about something like the picture below.....is this advisable? Keith
  23. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT...you keep sending me electronics and parts for my bike...man, I can't believe all the gifts I'm getting from you guys...YA HOO !!! Hey, I could use a rear tire and more lighting (never enough lights) or how about a new rain suit size 3x....Thanks for all the toys guys and girls...Ya Hoo..!! ps... Annie, I LOVE THE ELECTRONICS...Ya Hoo !!!!!!
  24. Since we've been talking about center stands and bike lifts, etc., I was wondering if this would work on an RSV. What do you guys think? http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ91220
