  1. Greetins all, I got up to take our dog out at 5:00 AM today and I thought I overslept clear through to November! We had a bit better than 1/2" of snow on our deck. This past Thursday we had record temps, 90 degrees F. Oh, well, guess I will install the mufflers I bought from AtlantaDragonSlayer. It is still just 34 F outside. I HATE WEATHER!!!!!!! Dave
  2. basically this is the first add on to my RSTD. finally decided on the Barons slash cut's. The bike is still stock, but I guess that's the fun of customizing it. Have to start somewhere I guess. I hope that they aren't too loud!
  3. Well I Think I'm next on list to sell my Black Cherry. Lina is out of work for last 6 monts, and I'm lost a job too, So I guess I Have to do what I have to do. There we go 06 Black Cherry is for sale in classified. Pic's are comming later. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=1783
  4. Due to all the snow and ACTS OF NATURE we had in my town, our school system will be open on June 5th, the day that we planned to leave for Freebirds. I do not know what we will be able to do now. I guess we have to leave really early on Saturday. Do not like riding in the dark on those early morning expressway trips. We will figure out something. Yama Mama:big-grin-emoticon:
  5. WELL tomorrow i go in for my bariatric surgery, at 5:30 am. I DO HOPEthat the doc is awake also.. I gotta ask him how many of these he has done.. if he i closeing in on a thousand, im gonna tell him that i will wait a while.. cause odds of diein are 1 in 1000.. cant be to careful with this.. (lol) kinda scared, kinda excited, kinda sic over it.. but on the other hand kinda lookin forward to it.. but i guess that im bout as ready as im gonna get.. if the lord takes me, i guess thats his will.. i am ready.. ( i hope)
  6. Well, After looking everywhere for a good way to mount a set of passing lamps on my first gens this is what I came up with. While in the garage looking at my wifes gs 650g , I noticed that the windshied brackets might just work for this project. You know, the kind for the universal mount type shields. I guess I was actually onto something this time. They look great and are very adjustable, up, down in out and side to side. I hope this helps someone elce, any questions let me know if i can help. Best regards. Kurt
  7. We received more snow than normal and I guess you could say this disaster is because of my own stupidity. I saw the snow piling up but did nothing, thinking it was too cold and I would rip the fabric. Well this is the result. I can't get to the bike yet, but some of the pipes are down on it. I'm hoping the damage is not too bad. I guess I will have to wait until the snow melts to lift the shelter off the bike.
  8. I have revised this post after several posts wondering why I would change the name of the Vogel event. It has been said that it has become tradition, if it aint broke, dont fix it, and after consideration we have decided to leave a good thing alone. There was not particular reason to change it other than for change, but I guess everyone associated The Tail of the Dragon with Vogel, and thats a good thing. So thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions for a new name, it did get quite a bit of attention and took some minds off of other things for a while, so not a bad thing I guess. But I will have to come up with another contest for the prizes I offered. Thanks again to all.
  9. Hows a 4 day old puppy with its eye still close...I'll let you guess what kind of breed he is?

    06 RSV on eBay

Hey folks - guess what I found?? Search eBay for Item # 130268795530 That is my old bike, that was written off by the insurance company. Interesting how the seller claims that "it can likely be repaired for a few hundred" when the insurance company told me it was $14K to repair it! I guess I got my "drop quotient" all factored incorrectly too ... looks like when we went down in Minden, it was only a "minor drop"!!! LOL Cheers,
  11. I promised I let you know as soon as I heard from Alan. He is tired and worn out but he is OK. Alan was only able to drive about 250 to 300 miles a day, due to blizzard and white out conditions and more than once he had some daubts about making it. He is in Canada now, 700 miles away from Seattle. Tomorrow he will try to cross the Rockies. I guess that's no picknic either but atleast we have communication back. Thank's to all of you who gave me strenght and hope.
  12. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/parts/home.aspx #5 0n bottom picture..I have one missing and will need to pick one up in the morning, will be in a hurry so I dont want to have to guess at the size? I looked and mine is missing and Im usually good at keeping all bolts etc tight..Guess I missed this one.I checked to see if it was broke in there but it isnt. Thanks,Tom
  13. Anyone care to guess what my door handles for quonset are from???? Cold beer when we meet to whoever guess's right....
  14. Went to a lunch meeting with a pastor friend. When I pulled into the parking lot at the taco shop, there was a RSMV sitting there - mirror image of mine. The pastor stepped out of the restaurant with a huge smile on his face. The bike was his! He traded his 800 Suzuki on a 2003 RSMV with only 12,000 miles. About a month ago, I invited his wife to try out the pillion on my Venture - now look what happened! Guess the fun is infectious. I told him about this great site and figure he will join pretty quickly. Reckon you guys can stand another Baptist preacher? Lynn

  16. Yamaha has released the 2009 RSV and RSTD models and not a dam thing has changed. No upgrade in the sound system, no FI, no increase in HP etc.. Oh well I guess I'll be keeping my 2006 RSTD with the newly purchased mustang seat..
  17. Evidently the cops chased this guy and he tried to jump the draw bridge while it was opening. Not too bright. Here's the story. I thought it was pretty funny. I guess he watched too many movies where this worked. http://www.wavy.com/global/story.asp?s=8978726&srvc=leadstory Margaret
  18. I got the CB, now I need to insert it and plug it in I guess. I see in the manual (MKII) that the CB is in the bottom and the CLASS is above it. I can see how that would let you still have the coolant bottle there. The hole where the CLASS is looks too big to put the CB into. Is there a totally different plastic cover that goes there? If so, anyone got one? (MasterGuns?). I also see the plug-in coming from it. Should there be something on my wiring harness for this to plug into? Or does this go directly to the left handlebar controller with the PPT? I do not have one of these either, will need to obtain one. There looks to be a bracket or something that two bolts go into on the CB. I don't have that either. Is there a place that would have the 5-pin cable (I guess 5-pin) that would go from the CB to the amplifier? I know, I am in a small world of hurt. Help?
  19. Looks like the stator decided to take a dump on me. Guess its my opportunity to try out the one from Buckeye Performance. I talked to Rick the other day and im convinced that thats the way im going to go. Guess ill be bikeless for a few weeks......Grrrrrrrr :mo money::mo money:
  20. Thought all our fishermen around here would get a good laugh out of this one. http://www.myembarq.com/news/read.php?ps=1020&rip_id=%3CD92N65K80%40news.ap.org%3E&_LT=HOME_LARSDCCLM_UNEWS Guess grandpa might be buying himself a few of those barbie fishin poles. Margaret
  21. Anyone else having a problem with the donate button? I tried it a couple times (to pay a fine for stupidy) and got a 404 error. It could just be everyone else was donating at the same time, eh? Guess I'll try again this evening.
  22. I occasionally see a post here wondering if something is a motorcycle. Going by my state regulations three wheels is a motorcycle so I guess this must be one. Jerry
  23. well, took a week and 2 days vacation, bought a tent and sleeping bag today, going to change oil in the v-star, got my satilite radio intune and working great, got rain gear, and my wife says i'm one brick short of a load, and don't let the door hit you in the ass. so i guess i'm all set for the final countdown. now i have to figure out where to put all this crap on the bike. i'm going to look like the beverly hillbillies when i pull in on friday, so don't laugh. hope this is'nt a dry county. no room for the cooler and beer. bill :clap2:
  24. I guess this is my first real post since joining a few weeks ago. I finally found and bought an '07 Venture this past Sunday. I also have a Road Star that I know pretty well now since I luv to tinker. FYI, I'm coming from having nothing but H-D's for the last 32 years. Here is my problem. (Or not, may be normal for this bike) I have noticed in a lean that there is a sort of grinding noise (guess I feel it more than hear it) that gets more pronounced as you lean more. There is hardly any noise when riding straight up. The PO gave me a new tire for the front that I had installed and now it's less noticeable but still there. The guy that installed the tire said the bearings felt ok. Any ideas?
  25. Some how the bracket that holds my lower left cowling on broke. It's the one that has the screw on the backside of the cowling toward the outer edge next to the crash bar. I tried JB Weld but it did not hold. Anyone have any suggestions. It was holding up OK but I guess the vibration broke it loose. I haven't laid the bike over or brushed up against anything to cause the JB Weld to break loose but it did. I guess the vibration caused it to come loose. Any body with any ideas???? :confused24: Moakster
