  1. Looks like our bikes here in Canada have finally been lowered to match US prices. The price of a Venture has dropped $3,900 Canadian. Yamaha has announced big price drops on its most popoular bikes. I guess it is good news if you have nothing to sell and are a new buyer??? http://www.cyclecanadaweb.com/articles/14098/
  2. I have a page that shows me all the Ventures up for sale on E-Bay. Lately therer have been a lot more 2nd Gens than 1st Gens. Guess they are finally getting tired of the Imitation Ventures.....:whistling:
  3. A little entertainment, no bull. Oh, guess I should look again. Hey, I'm not a farmer. http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/lXKDu6cdXLI?rel=0
  4. Guess WHAT ?? Ok - you probably guessed it - email me rbyrd5@neo.rr.com
  5. As much as I hate it. I think its time to take the 91 to the dealor. I am at my wits end here. I love this bike so selling it is not an option and it cant be all that bad . What Im dealing with is the rear brakes. I installed new pads and a new to me rear end in it and now it keeps leaking brake fluid. Add brake fluid to it and it pumps up and I have good brakes. They pulse but stop well. After a fw hrs riding the durned warning light goes off and sure enough its low on fluid again. I cant find the leak so I guess its off to the dealor for a check. Hopefully its simple as Im not cofortable on just front brakes. DAvid

  7. Someone who can delete a tread please delete my last post of "PLEASE HELP" so I dont get anyone else upset. It was just a joke and some people I guess thought it was sinceless. Oh well.
  8. Very early Tuesday morning (0130) I had to drag Marilyn out of bed to take my sorry butt to the ER. Turns out I was having a bad gall bladder attack. (I wasn't dying..just wishing I would!) 10 hours later I got out feeling a little better. Skipped bus driving for Wed and was back at it Thursday/Friday. Sat morning I took Marilyn to clinic as our family doc was there and she needed to see him regarding Scans on her kidney stones. She tricked me and booked me in to see him at the time she was checking in. Well this was at 11am. By 1345 I was strapped on a gourney and being wheeled into the OR!! Got my gall bladder removed and was sent home at 430 that evening! Now the healing starts I guess! So...fellow gall bladderless people....what does this mean in terms of eating and avoiding stuff? Please dont tell I can't eat ice cream any more!
  9. 89 VR 27k The PO kept telling me it needed 5 qts at an oil change because he had installed a spin on filter adapter. I noticed that the oil level window was covered with oil. Spec is 5 total, 4 on a change w filter. If he was adding 5 at a change, I guess he was running w 6 in the case. It's as it should be now, but has anyone heard of this happening with any effect of some kind? T
  10. Do you ever wonder why cagers precieve us as the enemy and vice versa? Saw some real loosers today on my way baack from Minonk, Il. One was within a foot of my motorcycle trailer bumper, on the left, going 74 mph, in the left lane with both lanes full and backed up. Guess he was trying to show me he was there and really really really wanted to pass...Stupid moron... all it would have taken was for me to take my foot off of the accelerator and he'd of crashed, burned and gotten run over like a deer... made me nervous as heck just waiting for someone in front of me to tap their brakes to start the event in motion... MORON! While we're on the subject of morons... guess who i saw riding a wheelie down Ohio Interstate 35? You guessed it ... a moron on a Green crotch rocket, looked to be about my age and was going about 55-60, without so much as even a helmet on his egg shaped head... Where do these idiots come from? Rant off... Time for a beer...

  14. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60045 Looks like we may be in for a WET weekend guys. Let's monitor the forecast and if by Friday they are still showing clouds and RAIN for Saturday, well, *sniff* *sniff* ... I guess we'll have to call off the M&E ride. I'll contact everyone Friday with an update. Wayne, pls advise if you have an alternate plan / idea.
  15. Checking to see who might be going to Laconia. I am leaving from Wareham, MA on Friday morning, the 17th, and staying thrue the weekend. Don't know anybody up this way, be nice to have someone to hang out with, plan on camping somewhere, guess I will figure that out when I get up there. Let me know, leave a message or call me on my cellphone, number is in my profile.
  16. Ok, I put on different exhaust, Barons Double Nasty pipes, put on the K&N filters, had the dealer rejet and repin the carbs (said it had to be done). Have any of you done this and what did it do to your mpg? Just wondering if anybody else has done this or not. My mpg has dropped from 44 to around 32 I'm thinking. Guess I'm just wondering if something could be wrong or if this is just the price I pay for putting on different exaust? Thanks for the feedback.
  17. Well folks, this morning mine finally gave me the firm signs that my ignition switch is on the way out. For a long time my trip odo would reset itself and I would have a flicker of the electronics when turning on my high beams; I had isolated that problem to a weakly connected and very corroded ground. BUT, in the last week or two I have noticed a flicker on my speedo when I turn the ignition ON (before starting) and didn't think much of it until this morning... I turned my key to the 'ON' position and then noticed that the display went completely out. When I went to turn the key back off to further investigate I found that it came back on when put a little pressure on the key to turn it from the "ON" position back to 'OFF'. So, now the experimentalist in me comes out and checks to see if I can duplicate the symptom/problem. Sure enough, when turning the ignition to the "ON" position, if I turn it all the way to the right it acts as if it is in the 'ACC' position and a little pressure counter-clockwise puts it back to functioning as if it is in the 'ON' position. Hmmm, so not the question is: 1) Disassemble switch, attempt cleaning/repair, reassemble and ride on? 2) Permanently install the by-pass I built and just let it go? 3) Dump 280+ at my local dealer for a new ignition switch? (haha- NO.) 4) Partshark and get a replacement switch for ~160 5) E-bay/pinwal get a replacement switch for 170 (don't believe me, go look for yourself - what a joke) 6) Of course there is always the "pretend like it isn't a problem until I am in the middle of BFN and my bike dies 'unexpectedly'". -- (haha -- this too is a big ol negatory) I think I will likely go with option #2 and a #1 planned in the near future and #4 as a back-up plan. I actually have a switch all wired up and ready to go where all I would need to do is snip the current wires and tie the bypass in. What I would like to come up with is an easy setup that would allow for my switch to be installed and ready to go allowing for a simple 'unbolt the tank and plug in the switch wires' solution, that way there is not the risk of someone flipping the switch and riding off with my bike without the key (I realize that is VERY unlikely to happen but still a possibility). So, I guess I'll need to get out the trusty old 'dingy' wiring diagrams (THANKS AGAIN!!!) and some thought. I guess I am venting more than anything here, so don't mind me and my mindless writing; although I wouldn't argue with suggestions
  18. $89 NOT $64 Say's that is best rate I can have because of name change So just made reservations for Maintenance Day at Quality Inn (Comfort Inn) anyways. Guess I should have just made reservation and just cancel if I didn't end up going
  19. If anyone has one that is in good condition, I'd be interested in it. Mine doesn't stay in the position you put it in. It has worn itself out, I guess. Phil

  21. It's a great sunday here in central NY.Wife's working all day and it's raining Guess I'll tune the carb's again. ain't nothin else to do.
  22. :(Well it has finally hit home. The great budget cut axe has fallen. The wife has been told she will no longer have a job teaching next year. I guess our Governor and President are getting what they want, ignorant kids. First they attack the teachers with pay cuts and no more long term contracts and now cut them out of a job. The outragous amount of pay (which is 1/2 what the private sector pays) and the great benefits (900.00 after 30 years of service) is breaking the state and federal bank I guess, couldn't be their pay of course. Not sure how long we can hold on to the house but I guess toys will have to go. had a great vacation lined up this summer, no way now. My health is not so good anymore, but I guess I will try to get some sort of work to help get us by if the doc doesn't find cancer with my biopsy next month. Sorry for the rant but just needed someone to vent it on. Wish us luck please, maybe a miracle will happen and they will change their mind or she can find a new job that pays more than the minimum wage they are offering around here.
  23. i'm getting ready to go riding. looks like good weather for a change. guess i will head west. not much flooding in that direction.
  24. Bob Dylon, who back in the 60's wanted nothing to do with Vietnam, just performed a concert over there. Better late than never I guess..... Or maybe he is just trying to figure out where all the flowers have gone.
  25. Since we are due 2 feet of snow over the next day and a half with 30-40 mph winds I guess we won't get the bike out for a few more days. Where is this global warming I keep hearing about?
