I thought that all 1st Gen Choke Switch are all the same. Located at the bottom of the switch housing. What years are between Switch Housing and the hand Grip?

Getting closer to winter and I have been mulling over the idea of fitting a set of ABS brakes to Tweety for its annual winter upgrade. Not as far fetched as it may seem. The technology is out there and proven. It is just a matter of integrating an existing system onto a 1st gen Venture. Then there is that little testing issue, but that comes later. Mounting the rotational sensors seems like a relatively straight forward target. When I put the VMax wheel on the front I had to put spacers on each side due to narrower hub, so the front end is easy, the rear would be a tad more of a challenge. Finding room for the control unit seems possible in one of the fairing pockets. Then it would come down to plumbing in the lines, which should be relativity simple given the custom made stainless lines available. There are ABS controllers available at Pinwall scrappers now & then. Does anyone have any technical info on the inner workings of a MC system? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system Gary

Did somebody knows where the flashlight relay is located on the Venture 2nd Gen? I don't know if it is below the front fairing or below the side covers? Thanks in advance for any help.

I've put a few hundred miles on my '83 VR but I'm really haven't built my trust in the bike yet. It sat for several years before I got it and I don't know anything about its history. I spent almost a year working on it in my spare time just to get it running. It's very easy to start. It idles fairly smooth and runs really smooth. But something just doesn't seem exactly right when riding it. I really can't put my finger on what isn't right, but it just feels a little off. What I'm looking for is someone with a 1st Gen., preferably and '83 model that lives near Henry County Tennesse. I would like someone to ride my motorcycle and tell if it is running like a 1st Gen is suposed to. I really enjoy riding it but until I can build trust in it, I'm afraid to wander too far from home. Do we have any 1st gen members that live near here?

I searched but could not find anything that was first gen related. Can get a steal on a set of tires the rear is the stock 240/90/16 The front that is what I have the question on is a front that is a mt 90b 18 or 130/90-16 Now i have read of these being used on the RSV's with success and the riders liking them but i have heard nothing from the First Gen crowd. Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated. Bags

Since I never had the chance to really carry it, and finished to purchased one this is the big detail I forget on this: HOW HEAVY IS THE 2ND GEN IN COMPARATION WITH THE 1ST GEN? I know that is much heavier than my 1997 RS, but don't know the difference.

I have a question since I'm on the migration from 1st Gen to 2nd Gen: Are the headsets from the 1st Gen working on the 2nd Gen? or I need to purchase new ones? What about the J&M for the 2003? Thanks, :confused24:

I have a question that may sound dumb buy here goes anyways. Will a 2nd Gen final drive fit on a 1st Gen? Mine is making some serious noises when maintaining speed but not while accelerating or decelerating. I was looking at some on ebay and just wondered what my options were if I need to replace it. Thanks

And PUHLEEZE let's not have snide remarks from the 1st genners .... (as if that would ever happen) Just wondering about this ... as we all know, some vehicles come off the assembly line at the wrong time of day or week and turn out to be a lemon. Similarly, certain years of a given run of vehicles seem to be better than others so... What year of the 2nd gen seemed to stand out as a better production year than others? Had the least amount of issues, least number of clutch basket whiners, least number of assembly screw-ups, etc, least number of rear shock early failures and so on.... Do we have any stats on this? Any thoughts from ya'll on this? Something for ya'll to jaw about while I'm away to Kruisn Kootenays to keep ya'll out of trouble..

Being that my left hand/wrist has pins and screws that it will be months before I know how much of it I will regain of it, with massive theropy. It is virtually use less. My right ribs and collar bone broken in several places, my right fingers and arm gets really sore and tired. So when you come accross any 1st Gen that could support me justifing a case to receiving more than NADA $5095. closer to $5750.00 please post here. My 91 VR had 9200 miles and was beautiful. When I get home I will continue. 1) finish the patch order 2) work the thumb switch order 3) work the side cover panel rail bar. 4) turn buckle accessory cross bar. 5) Introduce a new 1st Gen Patch. Thanks in advance Brian

Where do i find a 2nd gen manual or instructions for removing the fairing on 07 venture? Thanks

OK, here is an odd request. On the 1st gen where the horn mounts to the bracket on the frame there are sets of thin metal strips between the horn and the bracket. I suppose the sets of thin strips are to counter act the virbration. When I upgraded my horns and driving light brackets I tossed those OEM strips. Why keep 'em right? Well I have changed my light brackets again to a different type and I find the need of those strips to hang the horns. I made a couple of hangers from aluminum flat stock but they are showing signs of weakening already this year. Too much vibration. Anybody that has done a horn upgrade that might still have those strips laying around that would be willing to part with them? I think each side had 3 or 4 strips for each mount. Thanks Mike
