I installed my new Garmin 450 today and in the box it came with there is a CD that says (City Navigator NT.....north america v8) Do I need that? I tried to put it on my computer and it asked me for a 25 number code.....what code? Where is that.....maybe already in the GPS?? I think I like the little unit.....simple enough even I can operate it.......do not know much about computers though.......such as this 25 number code........won't it work find just like it is.....seems to show streets....even shows me sitting in the middle of a field with no road..........at my house.......so do I need that and what is the code...where do I find it. Thanks.........

Garmin released software update version 3.80 on 12/20/07 (from version 3.30) for the Zumo 550. The one thing that I really like about it is that elevation is now five digits instead of just four. It use to be that if you went over the higher mountain passes, the elevation just showed "----". www.zumoforums.com has the info.

News on a GPS site mentioned that Garmin will put v.9 maps on units in spring. Those folks with current units (v.8) will get a Happy New Year from Garmin as they will upgrade yours for approx. $125.00 Some of you that won't be needing one (for bike) till spring might want to wait.

Well this has me a little p!$$ed. One of the reasons I bought the Zumo 550 was because it has XM Radio (with subscription). Turns out, the only antenna they sell is for weather, traffic and radio and it is very expensive. I just want a antenna for the XM radio. I can't find one anywhere. From what I can tell, the antenna hookup in the Zumo cradle is a special end. Seems while shopping around for an antenna, the ends are different for different brands of XM Radio's. I was thinking about ordering only the cable from Garmin, buying a $30 antenna and splicing the Garmin cable to it. Has anyone tried this? Is it possible? Is there an antenna that will work on the Zumo for ONLY the XM Radio? Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Has anyone purchased the Saver's guide chip and card offered for the zumo-550 by Garmin? It's $49 for a year... I wonder how easy it is to use for hotels and such. I don't mean -as they describe it - I mean in actual fact. We just completed a 2100 mile 9 day trip up the Calif coast from Huntington Beach to Crescent City and across to Yosemite and down to Sequoya and back. Stayed where possible at hotels listed in the Saver's guide which is available at Dennys, McDonalds and others. Prices were good, although quality varied. Would have preferred more choices... It seems this would be convenient, but would like to hear from someone who has actually used it.

I want to be able to plug this Garmin Zumo 550 into my audio plug in on my cassette so I can hear the voice prompts through the speakers or through my headset. Does anyone know if this unit is capable of doing that as I don't think I will be able to hear the voice prompts as the bike is running. Help
