  1. I am going to go look at a pop up tomorrow? It is a 1968 Apache Falcon? it is 7'5'" in lengh 5'2"in width and 47"hieght Carries 400 max cargo I could not find the wieght of the trailer. My question is is this a good deal ad how much should I pay for it? How well would it tow behind my 06 Venture? Just found the wieght is 600 lbs? is this too heavy? The guy is asking $1500. Looking at the internet I found a old broucher that stats it was 645 plus frieght in '68. Any advice or help would be great John
  2. I had bookmarked the Watering hole and 1st Gen Tech forum when I first joined. Today I wandered into the read only 1st Gen tech library forum and found a wealth of information.... Guess I need to spend some more time cruisin' through this place....
  3. I found this item on the net this morning and got to thinking that if I found a way to attach it to the trunk, and run the hoses to the front, it would be a great way to stay hydrated on those warm dry summer days, LOL!...:cool10: Alcohol-free of course! (at least until we got to destination:group cheers:) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055NWNOS/?tag=047-20 Brian
  4. Try as I might, I just can't find the cassette deck. I've looked everywhere! I found the ABS system, fuel injection, throttle bodies and all sorts of useless stuff... but no cassette player to be found! http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w337/Owen064/photo.jpg
  5. Found the solution for you Buddy! http://www.jabrdeals.com/?fuseaction=business.groupbuy.publicpage.main&deal_id=11301
  6. So I have a question for those who have installed new seals in their front forks. Have you ever found non-OEM seals to be too thick after installation ? I installed a set of Pyramid seals that came with the bike and I can not get the lock clip in. They appear to be all the way down. The bushing was tapped all the way down but the thickness of all 3 pieces on both sides appears to be 20/1000's too thick. Gonna have to take it all apart to measure, but just wondering if anybody ever found that to be an issue. Yea...I know some of you told me not to use after market seals... just seemed like an easy way to save $40.00.
  7. City found another way to increase their budget.
  8. Legs and arms are a little short yet, but he's getting there!!! He found the (Stebel) horn button  https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=3249687484592

  10. I have been looking at light bars for the rear of my 07 RSV. I looked at the thread for the Pilot light bar but dont want to do any drilling and that thread is from 2006. I'm sure there are more options by now. I found one that bolts to the helmet holders but now can't find it again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  13. Hey All, just thought this was kinda helpful if you want to know who your neighbors are. My Aunt & Uncle sent this to me, and living out in the country thought it was cool with the arial view. Later- http://neighbors.whitepages.com/ Hey, just found out this is a older version, due not have a updated one, so names may have changed, Sorry. Later-
  14. While grazing on Ebay in early Dec. 2011 I saw a 1986 VR ( item 150711597381, photos were still up recently), advertised as a project bike. Finally bid ended at $680, which I thought was cheap for such a fine older machine. Winning bidder never paid and I was offered the VR for bid price, shipping to my home added $400 but still cheap for a diamond in the rough. Found your very friendly and informative site while the bidding on the VR was still active and joined on ,12/8. As you have said best $12 I've spent. I've already found a very nice replacement seat, windshield and normal maintenance items, and of course downloaded manuals etc. Not surprising that a complicated machine with many electrical/electronic devices which are 26 years old (isn't that about 78 in motorcycle years) is in need of TLC. Along with working on the defects noted in Ebay listing a thorough fork and steering head rebuild/upgrade is planned.Pleased to see that several members have a machining background.
  15. Here ya go Russ....
  16. I found it today here on the outer banks,I was just getting off my bike when this bike rolled into the parking lot and pulled up behind me and parked. We talked for a few and He was a CMA member went by the name of hondog and was from NH.I took a couple of pics of this GL1000 looked about a 79 model and I don't know what to do now since the bike isn't for sale,it has lots of accesories just bolted or wired on with bailing wire it seemed to be one a kind.
  17. Hello, everybody. I've been lurking here for a few days now. Ever since my girlfriend informed me that we need a different bike than our Roadstar if we are gonna go very far. Seems the Roadie's ride is just a tad tough on her tush. Also, we want hard bags, fairing, overdrive, cruise, etc. etc. You all know where this is heading. I have been looking for a few days now, and I have found a 2004 RSV that has been covered inside a garage since 2007. Seems the guy bought it, then promptly lost interest. Fast forward to now. We plan to buy it. I know about what has happened in these years. The battery is probably dead as a doornail, the oil needs changed, the tires may be flat, may even need replaced... My big fear is the gas. I know the tank needs drained, as do the carbs... Think I'll get away with that? Or will the carbs need to be removed and gone through? I know that when I decide to fire up one of my old cars, I need to mess with the carb, but there's only 1, and it's right on top. I'm not intimidated by the prospect, just rather not disturb them if I don't need to. In reading your fine forum here this morning, I found that the float levels are probably too high, and need adjustment anyway, but for now I'd like to just get to know the bike before tearing into it. Thanks for any advice you can give me. Bert
  18. Just inherited this. Found out it was made between 1899 and 1902.
  19. I put new tires on for summer and found that as soon as bike was not perfectly vertical that I got a drive line howl that would not go away until I straitened the bike up or ended up going straight after a corner. It didn't matter how mild the corner was the noise was there. I assumed the tires. Not! Brother had same brand on his 1200 BMR Putting the bike on the center stand and starting it and putting it in gear, I found that there is considerable play in the u joint..Putting a long screwdriver in there and prying it I found the play. Does the engine have to be removed to change that out? I see these offered on ebay but with gear that goes into the motor/transmission attached to the universal. What is easiest?
  20. Kelly Wilson ( WilsonTAMU83 ) is in the Hospital under going tests for severe stomach pain, he went in to the ER Sat night and they are running every test that can to try and figure out what is going on, so far they havn`t found anything. please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers, and send a extra up for the doctors to be able to figure this out. Thanks,
  21. I found the oil leak on my Venture. It's on the engine case split line in a hard to access area next to the clutch pin and seal. Had to remove the clutch actuator cyl to see it. Seeing the amount of gunk build up in that area, I think it's been leaking for years. There is a ¼" landing there. (shadow area) I'm thinking I might clean it up real good and just fill it in with JB Weld. Otherwise it looks like an engine pull and case split! Any other idea's?
  22. I found the hippo hands site (http://www.hippohands.com) Also found Bikerpaws, but it is apparently no longer available. And lastly I found "winterhands" (http://www.outsideconnection.com/gallant/VX/winterhands.htm). Unfortunately only a mailing address, no phone or e-mail winterhands is lined and more expensive, while hippohands looks more like a rigid "fairing" which would keep the wind of but not provide any insulation. There are probably other similar things but I haven't found them (yet). Who has experience with what? Thanks
  23. Found this picture on the net, just had to share...... InBred Cat
  24. OK...either I'm going blind and have skipped right past the section multiple times or it just ain't in the service manual I downloaded from this site?? I'm looking for a step by step to make sure I don't mess anything up during disassembly. I've found a couple for Gen2 but not Gen1. I'm sure it's been posted before but I can't find that either...maybe I should look for a search tutorial first:confused24:
  25. Found this link on another board and thought folks here may enjoy it as well.... http://www.go-faster.com/SS100.html
