  1. Just wanted to say Hi to all you Guys and Girls. My name is Owen Neal and my wife is Jeaneane, and I am one of the latest members to join your group. My last Bike was a Honda Aspencade, several years ago until now. I recently bought a very well maintained 1999 RS Venture. And it's a real dresser! I don't believe that there is another chrome assessory available that is not already on this Bike, plus the '06 Midnight Seats and the Harley Mufflers. Just another Toy that I really didn't need, but I truly love her! I appreciate the sincere and honest questions and answers from you members as posted on the forums. You seem like a very friendly and honest group! I am also with another forum for Class A Motorhomes and have gotten a lot of very helpful suggestions and advice from those members, in the past few years. But, there always seems to be a few of those "Idiots" who seem to invariabaly try to put down, embarrrass, or insinuate stupidity of the questioners on that forum. I don't believe that there is a stupid question, but those nasty replies only verify their inteligence! I have found none of this on this forum and its appreciated! Keep up the Good Work! I am retired and live in Council Bluffs, Iowa and spend the winters in Mission Texas (Near McAllen) in an RV Park. I'd like to know of others of you who also live near Council Bluffs (or Omaha). Thank You All, and have a fun year! I'll be back again. And thanks to Don for guiding me on how to post a this thread. Owen. P.S. Hey, I even paid my dues!

    AMA roadside assistance?

anyone ever have to use it? i just renewed my AMA membership, and this was an option that was free if i renewed online ( which i was going to do anyhow! ) just curious about it. I tried to search ama roadside assistance, but the forum wouldn't allow the AMa portion. Got a good deal of info about yamaha roadside, though! thanks in advance, guys.
  3. Folks, I get a number of emails from people who have forgotten their passwords, did not receive the confirmation email when they registered, have questions about how to post, etc. I still plan to answer those questions for the most part but over the next few weeks there will be times when I am simply not available to do so. At the bottom of the main forum page, in the blue bar, there is a link that says "Forum Leaders". If you click on that link you will get a list of the moderators here any of which should be able to help you. If one of them does not know the answer to your question, he will get with the others and try to come up with an answer...if that doesn't work...they will make something up. So over the next few weeks, if you contact me and do not get an answer in a reasonable amount of time, you might try contacting one of them. I am placing the link here also. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showgroups.php
  4. Found these photos from another forum . Think someone is upset in MB ? BEER30
  5. OK folks, I've added a couple of new features to the forum. Some of you may find them helpful. There was a request for a place to view the most popular threads over the past 7 days or so. If you are away from the site for a few days and want to see the most popular of what you have missed, there is now a way to do it. If you scroll to the bottom of the forum home page, there is a new section that shows the "Hottest" threads. If you click on the drop down menu that says "View More" in that section, you will get a more complete list. I have also added a new feature to the search menu. You will find a link there that will bring up your latest posts and/or threads that you started. This will make it easier to find a question that you have posted and/or a post that you have added. That's about it for me today. I'm at another hotel and the Internet service is awful. I will check out of here tomorrow morning and try to find one with better Internet.
  6. Thanks to all of you who have been busy submitting your favorite restaurants for the rest of us to enjoy. I've had several emails asking how you post to those forums. I have now added a link to the forum header for you to click on and be taken to the "forms" page. There is also a link under the "Quick Links" menu in the second menu bar at the top of the forum. So, just click on either of those links and then choose the form for the state or province where the restaurant is located.
  7. I was reinstalling the the giant "Yamaha" reflector the other day on my 86' and smashed a huge hole in it. Anybody have one for sale? Thanks! Great forum!
  8. There have been some recent requests for the VentureRider flags. We have been out of these for some time now and it was time to make them available again. Details are in the VentureRider Merchandise forum area at: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=285603#post285603
  9. This is it, To each and every one of you: May You and your Families and Friends have a Blessed and Happy Holiday Season As this forum has been a blessing to me in all the ways, as a internet community, it has served my needs with friendships, fellowship, entertainment and advice both technical and not. God Bless you for making a difference in my life. And for those of you I've gotten to know and have interacted with more personally. GeorgeS There is not enough time or gigabyte space for me to express my gratitude for your generosity of time, tutorlige and patience By holding my hand through the pursuit of electrical gremlins and technical advice in helping me resurrect and keep running my beloved 87Venture Royale. Because you are the person you are, and for what you have done for me, you have made a difference and have impacted my life. 10. Hello everybody. Is there a parts wanted/available forum anywhere on this site? I'm looking for a right speaker frame/grill assembly for an 86'. Thanks in advance. Great forum!
  11. Well gang, especially my fellow Texas Stampeders, I tried talking myself out of it but couldn't resist any longer. I have sold my 88 Venture Royale, my baby, and have taken on a more classic ride. This afternoon I will be the proud owner of an 03 Harley Davidson FLTHCUI Ultra Classic Electra Glide. At first, I wanted to keep the VR as well as the Harley but I have limited room in my three car garage for all my other vehicles and just couldn't manage two large sleds in it. I thought about throwing out one of the cages, and even considered selling my motorhome so I could park one or two of the cars under that cover, but would rather keep the rv and the other stuff in the garage. Bottom-line the VR will be gone this afternoon and in its place will be my new-to-me FLTHCUI. OMG still can't believe I am doing this. I have built this VR almost from the ground up and I will surely miss her. She has been very, very good to me, carried me thousands of trouble-free miles. I maintained her like she was born of my loins. I will welcome my new HD and I am sure she will become just as important part of me as my VR was. I hope that being a HD owner I am still welcome here in this forum. I have made some very fine friends while being a member of this forum. I would like to continue participating in various runs like next years Texas Stampede. Hope all will continue to welcome me and my new-to-me loud classy ride. God, why do I feel so bad? I am almost in tears.
  12. seen this on another forum and thought it was pretty close to home!! http://creativity-online.com/work/view?seed=5e32d548
  13. I've been lurking for a while reviewing different threads and picking up information here and there from the forum. About a month ago I bought a 1984 Venture Royale from a forum member. This bike joins my 1982 CBX, 1988 ZX10 and 2002 Mean Streak. I've always liked the Venture as I had a 1984 I bought in 1990 that had a sidecar installed by the previous owner. The SC was color matched to the bike and could be unbolted in about 5 minutes. After about 6 months of riding with this rig I thought I knew how to handle it. I couldn't have been more wrong. Going around a slow speed curve in 1991 with my two young ones I lost control and hit an oncoming car. Completely my fault. Totaled the bike with a bent frame not to mention the damage to the fairing. The kids were not hurt altho I wasn't so lucky. Anyway, I've always wanted another Venture and finally have one. I'll be asking a lot of questions in the future. Sorry for the long introduction.
  14. Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I though t someone might like the deal, not sure if the price is good or not. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350131807220&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123&viewitem=
  15. OK folks, some of you are aware that with one the upgrades a while back, a new feature called "Social Groups" was added. These are like little mini-forums that are not publicly displayed on the main site. They were very poorly implemented in my opinion. The biggest problem is that there is no way to be notified of new posts to a social group that you are a member of. If you don't check them on a regular basis, it is easy to forget about them. The other problem is that the discussions are not "threaded" as they are in the forum and that makes it hard to have any continuity on a particular subject. There is a new software upgrade that will be ready soon. It is in "beta" right now which means that it is being tested and any major bugs are being worked out. Some sites are already using it and it seems to be stable now but I'll wait a while before installing it. Upgrading the software here is a major pain as I have a lot of customizations that have to be re-applied when I do an upgrade. The REAL question I have is do we even WANT to continue with the social groups. I've had mixed feelings about them from the beginning. On one hand, it is a good place for folks with a common interest that really doesn't warrant a specific topic area in the main forum to exchange ideas, discussion, etc. One example is the "Biker's/Musicians" social forum. This site is not about musicians but we have a number of folks here who play guitar, banjo, drums...even tuba that enjoy talking about their music, gigs, etc. The social group is a great place for them to do that. On the other hand, I think that too many social groups can distract from the family atmosphere that we have here. If enough folks take their discussions to the social groups then the forum could become pretty slow. I prefer that most discussion take place here in the open so that we can all participate. So, those are my thoughts. What are yours?
  16. I'm new to this forum and I'm just curious how many active members are from my area. Knoxville, Tn. or surrounding areas.
  17. Just thought id provide a link for a young group for riders over 30 called Over The Hill. Seems things are a bit slow over there and they are considering closing down the forum. Give them the once over....... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Overhill/start
  18. BOO

    Got Stalked.

Was at a Gander Mountain store near Kenosha, WI yesterday and when I was getting ready to leave a man his wife and their son came over to look at my Venture. He has recently bought a RSTD and had begun to ride again after several years of being off a bike. He has lots of questions and some issues with the new bike and his dealer (go figure) I was hoping he would have joined our group and been on the forum by now. I gave him the address and fed him full of BS about how nice you guys are so be nice if he shows up. Jerry
  19. I happen to know 2 , (No actually 3) Forum members that live in my neck of the world that need to be inducted, encouraged, pursued or harrassed into this Social (..... Or Anti-Social Group...........Hmmm, ............. Only time will tell) club. All of whom I happen to have been fortunant enough to have spent time with yesterday. One of which being BLACKJACK Terry. I spent time with BLACKJACK yesterday because as a dedicated forum member, he is the one that has taken it upon his shoulders, and to his credit, organized and Host the Monthly North Georgia M & E which occurs on the second Saturday of each month. But not only that is(as I found out yesterday) is a musician playing the drums :smash2:and guitar. :guitarist 2:He also happens to be a friend and the Design/build general contractor to the owner of Galaxy Music. :whistling:He recently completed a project of building the new Galaxy Music store on GA 400 near Dahlonega, GA whice we rode by yesterday :7_6_3[1]:and where his son happens to be the new Store Manager.:cool10::whistling: Also at yesterday's N Ga M&E was a relatively new Forum member, 1st time M&E participants, avid Guitar collector :mo money:and aspiring Guitar musician:guitarist 2:. COLUMBO. He and his significant other, whose name (to my discredit) :doh:I didn't catch or retain, seem to be super people and ride a beautifull 2nd Gen Midnight Venture. Also another relatively new forum member, MATTCHARVA, and are also reunited Old friends, and..... who I happen to be rebuilding an 84 XVZ12 VR for. Matt is a talented musician that I have actually jammed with, plays a killer Piano, and Guitar:guitarist 2: and does great lead vocals. :Im not listening toMatt and his wife Charlotte were over for dinner last night and are also super people :cool10:that will fit right with the VentureRider and Biker/musician group. So :icon_smile_questionwho's in charge of the new membership committee for this Social?? Group. Oh yea, and..:icon_smile_question........will there patches for this club? .................:banana:or maybe a secret membership decoder ring.
  20. Hello all, I just bought a new 08 venture and getting ready for the 600 mile check up. I am having problems with the radio not wanting to change chanels when it get warmed up and lastnight noticed that I have a antifreeze leak. Anything else anyone knows I need to keep an eye out for? I also read in a forum somewere that there was something that they can do about the wine I get from the gears at highway speed around 70 that after awhile gets alittle on your nerves. Thanks for any and all info and be safe out there.
  21. Any one know of a good Virago 1100 forum on the net? A colleague at work is looking for some help with her '94, she's having electrical troubles. Google and I found a couple but they didn't look that busy. Where do the serious XV1100 owners hang out ? Thanks, Brian H. Uxbridge Ont
  22. Well, I finally got to meet my first 2 forum members yesterday. After having spoken on the telephone a number of times, I finally got to meet dragerman and ummm dangit, I forgot his forum name, but Rob was there too! I decided to cut my lawns for the first time, the dirty looks from my neighbors were starting to get to me, so I fired up my lawnmower on one of the nicest days so far this year. Well after cutting the front, I decided to skip the back (who is looking in my backyard anyways?) and go for a ride. I called Charlie, and he was meeting up with Rob to do some work on the bike, but after some discussion decided to come riding, and Rob joined us as well. We met up in Milton, chatted for a while, looked at each others bikes, then hit the road for a quick trip to a little out of the way bakery, that I swear has the best sandwiches around. The ride was nice, short, but great company. Except for the numnuts kid who just had to squeeze between us, and ride up my ass, but I digress... It was really cool to meet some new riding buddies. We even met a Harley guy, who was out riding by himself (his Harley riding buddies were out buying oil, or fixing something) So I invited him to sit with us, and hang out for a bit. I had to bail, since I was working last night (hence the latenight post) and took my leave of Charlie and Rob. I hope to meet up with more of you at Carls on the 24th, and "maybe" even in Ohio, next month. Sorry no pictures this time, but next time for sure. Oh and if any local riders are going to the Yamaha Demo Ride later today (May 16) at Flamborough downs, look me up, I will be there promoting the B.E.A.T Cancer ride at the event. Cheers! Sonny
  23. OK folks.....I'm pooped tonight. Been trying to work on some things that you requested. One was to update the Assistance List....that is done. Another was to make the search button consistent. I also discovered that the Google search was missing so I added it back. Now, how many of you turn the forum side menus off? If you do, are they off for you now? I always leave them on but no in testing, they won't go off. I'll work on it some more tomorrow night.
  24. OK folks...I guess I'll upgrade the software here early next week. I will be going to PA on Monday and after I get checked into the hotel on Monday night, I will probably do it then. That is assuming that I get a good Internet connection at the hotel. This is a fairly major upgrade and will require that I shut down the forum for long enough to get the main scripts installed. If everything goes right, the site shouldn't be down for more than 15 minutes. I PROMISE to do a very good backup before starting. Once I have the major scripts installed, I can turn the forum back on and it will be functional but some of my customizations here will be missing until I get them all working again. There are a lot of changes in the programming and I am afraid that many of my customizations will not work without some major modifications to them. I really won't know what will work and what don't until I get started. So, you have been warned. I promise to keep the downtime as short as possible. Though I don't suspect any major problems with getting it installed and operational again, I expect a couple or more very late nights before I get things the way they are again.
  25. I got the nuts off but not sure what to do next to remove the front speakers. Somewhere there is a detailed procedure that I reviewed a few weeks ago with pics but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know where the post might be hidden here in this forum?
