  1. They're here! The first batch of pins will be in the mail late this afternoon. If you said you wanted 2G pins & haven't yet sent payment, you'd better hurry as there are only 11 remaining. Those that said they wanted 1G pins have no worries as there are still 72 up for grabs. Sure seems like this was a long time coming, but, I'm pretty sure you're going to like the results. And thank you all for helping to support this great forum - VentureRider.org. Bob
  2. I know I am stating the obvious to all here but it needs to be said again. I belong to several MC forums and none, and I mean none, are anywhere near the caliber of this one. The other sites have areas such as Politics/Religion, NSFW areas and others that more often than not turn into slugfests with members being banned and members ignoring one another. Hell, I even exploded recently at someone who basically said the police officers killed in Washington asked for it. Don has done a fine job with this forum and I hope it's around forever. Kudos to him as well as to the mods for keeping the place running sharp. The members here are quick to come to the aid of others and no question looking for advice ever goes unanswered. I am proud to be a member of this fine group of men and women.
  3. We have a dedicated forum for the purpose of members sharing their favorite restaurants around the country. It is a bit confusing because it uses forms to keep them all formatted the same and many people have asked how to submit a review. There are two ways to do so. 1. There are two menu bars at the top of the forum. In the lower menu bar on the far right side just beside the link to Log Out is a link called "Quick Links". If you click on Quick Links, the last item in the menu that opens up is "Submit Restaurant". Just click on that and you will be taken to a page with the forms for each area. 2. On the home page of the forum there are blue bars that designate each forum. Watering Hole, Tech Talk areas, etc. The one for the restaurant section says "Member Restaurant Reviews" and just under that, still in the blue bar, is text that says "Click here to submit your favorite restaurants". That is the text you want to click on and it will take you to the same forms at the link under "Quick Links".
  4. Hey all, just trying to get a lot of supporters for this. I think that in the forums, if you see a post you like, but dont want to quote it to show you agree with it, they should have maybe a Like button, or a Thumbs Up or Down to show that you agree with them. Just a thought, if any of you have any suggestions or want think this is a good idea, please post in the forum, if we make enough posts, maybe freebird will have to see it! Okay, well thank you for your support.
  5. I assume that you put the "restricters" in the rubber tubes per the instructions in the manual, but which adapters (if any) do you use for the 2nd gen RSTD? All of the directions given on the forum for using the carbtune are great, but none mention setting up the carbtune. Thanks for any help!
  6. New forum trying to get started. The gentleman who has it up and running is from Harpers Ferry, WV. Young forum with only 75 members. I joined since I live in the Tri-State area (PA) and own a cottage in West Virginia. Nice to know about all the local events/rides close to home. They have not had a meet and eat yet, but as membership grows it is sure to happen. So, check it out! http://www.westvirginiabikers.com/wvforum/index.php Regards Dave
  7. I've seen several posts of the past months that folks don't know where the VentureRider Merchandise area of the forum is. It is just a topic area of the forum and can be found on the forum home page. There you will find information about shirts, caps, patches, decals, etc. I have added a link to the upper menu bar on the far right side. It says VRStore. Hopefully that will make it easier for folks to find.
  8. Saw this today over on the Delphi forum. Thought you all would appreciate it! http://www.fredericky.com/images/dumb.pdf
  9. how do i post a question in the forum about my venture?
  10. Ok everyone, they are finally done...check them out the VentureRider merchandise forum......thanks for being patient while all the bugs were being worked out...you can e mail or PM me for an order...I will not be taking orders in this forum as it will only add to the confusion , I'm confused enough....
  11. First off , I owe a few people here on the forum a Huge Apology . I had told them that I could do some projects for them , but I have let them down . I did not forget to do them , I just ran out of time to do them . I have started on them , but have not completed them . Some of you know , my job is making Nylon Military Gear , supplying the global market to the US , Canada , and all allied forces . Along with Mil , also serving the LEO and Home Land Defense . This has consumed a lot of time for the wife and I . As many businesses have slowed down or gone out of business , on the contrary we have not . In fact , we have only been busier . This also explains my absence here on the forum as well . As we have been getting busier , we are also short handed with employees . We have adds running in the paper, temp services on call , but it looks like no one wants to work . Not getting into a political topic , but they rather sit at home eating Cheeto's on the couch and taking advantage of extended unemployment bennys . This has placed a burden on those whom work at our shop and other shops like ourselves . What hurts the worse , it cuts into my riding time . I have rode less this year than any other year now . For a scoot that is 3 1/2 years old that now only has 57K on it . It should have more . A boat that has only been out 2 times last year and only once so far this year . So saying again that I Apologize for those whom I have said that I would make things for them and have not delivered yet and also not being on the board as much either . I will still try to continue to complete the projects and get them out as I possibly can . I figured I should at least step up and mention this , as I am getting numerous e-mails asking if I have died yet from many of the members here . I haven't so far . But if this keeps up , I may have to run away and go north to live with Charlie ...........Heaven Forbid ! BEER30
  12. This morning I found out that I had gotten my account disabled on another forum. When I got to someone who could tell me why, they said I was kicked off because my nickname was offending to many others in the forum. I was using the nickname I also use here, (a1bummer). Come to find out that in some other parts of the world, not sure exactly which, the term "bummer" is a derogatory term for a gay person. Who would've thunk?
  13. I posted a thread last night and put it in the wrong forum. How can I change it?
  14. Hey guys... I just got an email from Chrome glow- that's where everyone gets that great LED light bar that's in so many posts... (they also have the LED tail light). I told them about the forum and they sent me this: "In with your order I have included a 10% off coupon for your next purchase. Also, if you could post a promo code on the forum that would be great. This is an un-advertised special of 5% off entire order. Use promo venture5 " Looks like there's now one more advantage to being a VR member!!!
  15. check out this discussion forum on the kawasaki site about the venture http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/kawasaki-cruisers/92825-yamaha-royal-star-venture.html
  16. I've looked at the Trike forum...reviewed the Darksiders forum...and still have questions... Second Gen RSMV....Tri-Wing Trike 6 degrees of rake (ie E-Z Steer) rides & performs like a dream...last week was 2000+ miles of the Ozarks...bit dodgie in the rain, but was expected...BUT....the front tire (M/C) isn't gonna make it....6000 miles and it's 75% gone..Need opinons or suggestions on conveting to a C/T....
  17. I was out on a ride on the DR today and saw a silver second generation about a mile east of Stover. Anybody from the forum?
  18. i am working with an eBay seller (axe63) who makes very affordable backrests for various model Yamahas - however he does NOT make one for the RSTD. i told him i would post here, asking for someone on this forum to take a ride to him for him to take some measurements (would need to remove seat). if anyone is interested and can help please let me know and i'll get more details...thanks to all ! :-) Buz
  19. Ponch

    club names

Please be careful about posting club names, especially certain 1%er clubs. They actually have folks who monitor the web for their name. If it pops up in a thread on a forum, it could cause problems.
  20. Any one got a link to forum on these bikes, this site has me spoiled on what to expect when I look for a site on other bikes can never find one that measures up to this site. thanks for your help
  21. Seen this on another forum and thought some of you might be interested. Here is the link http://www.crutchfield.com/p_204YAMAMK/Bazooka-MC-YAM-AMK-Amplifier-Kit.html?tp=139
  22. The whole site has a different appearance and it says VB portal up top...what gives?
  23. Hi, I just joined up here, so I was told by a friend of mine that he thinks there is someone on here that makes an aluminum block to go behind the Yamaha light bar to make it stick out alittle further forward is this true and can someone hook me up? I got one made by someone on another forum but, I don't like it. It let's the lightbar vibrate every bump I hit! Therefore letting the lights bounce too. Can someone help me out? Thanks, C.C. Rider
  24. I'm going to casually start looking for a new final drive for my 86'. It's too damn noisy. I don't want to use the 83-85 ones. I want the newest one I can find. Will the 2nd gen drives fit? Thanks. Great forum!
  25. I found this forum last night, and am very impressed by everything I've found here. Looks like a great place, and wonderful helpful people. I just bought a new 2008 Venture yesterday, and hope to pick it up Tuesday after work. I have a 2002 Roadstar and love the bike so much, we're keeping it too. I'm a member of The Roadstar Riders forum on Delphi too... I've done a lot of work on that bike, lots of mods, and parts galore to make is as good a performing and long haul bike as possible, but it just didn't give us the comfort we were looking for. Great around town and shorter haul bike though. SO, that brings me to this bike, and forum. I was hoping that some of you could post to this thread giving me some of the best bang for the buck mods and or parts I can start off with to make this bike even more pleasurable than I'm sure it's going to be. Several things already in mind, but please add more ideas if you can... I will be making a hitch and installing it first thing for our trailer. I also know a driver backrest is high on the list, along with arm rests for the wife, racks for the tops of the bags, and other such things.. What brand tires do most people like on this bike? I normally run Metz tires. Is AIS removal highly recommended? What other performance clues can you give me? I know fork oil change is up there.. Yamaha always seemed to go light on things like that... I'm not familiar with the rear suspension, but is there a spring that is recommended to be changed? Any tips hints and clues are greatly appreciated and heeded... HOWDY ALL! Hope you don't get tired of me!
