  1. Happy Thanksgiving to my VR family from the Ruffy family!!!! Were celebrating Thanksgiving today since Jean has to work Thanksgiving day. At least were thankful we both still have jobs. Spent the whole morning cooking. Hmmmm, maybe a nice Thanksgiving day ride is in the cards for me tomorrow. Temps should be in the high 70's with an abundance of sunshine!!!!
  2. LORD I'm thankful for this day and your bringing the family all together. It's not very often we get to set down for a nice family meal as our busy lives Do Not Permit. We fasted through breakfast to make room for that which MaMamo has prepared.A meal fit for a King.Give us Grace to eat until were done.Strength to find our way to the bedroom for a long nap afterwards. If I should die before I wake take care of my Family,Feed my dogs, and give my first gens to somebody who will appreciate them. AMEN
  3. I would like to announce the Wedding of Kayla Caddel and James M Russell! They got married today at a wonderful Wedding and a wonderful Reception. I anxious to get to know the Caddel family and welcome / blend them into the Russell Family! Of course with our youngest out and on his own with his new Bride, I guess we will have to ride more to keep us from getting bored.
  4. Well just got the call from ADC's son. He and his wife just had a baby girl. Now the big deal here is that ADC has only son's and grandson's. Seems they don't get girls so this is the only one. Yes I'm sure she's gonna be a bit spoiled, but I kinda feel sorry for her when she wants to date. But she was born this morning she's 20.5" and weighs 7lbs 6oz. We'll probably head over to see them at the hospital later. So congrat's Arthur on getting the first girl in the family. Oh her name is Casey and I'm sure she's absolutely adorable. Margaret
  5. Well the 1st Gen found a new home today. I was a little sad to see her go, but Ol' Blue just fits me better. I sold it to my cousin and her husband so she's still in the family. They're stepping up from a cruiser to a touring bike, I think they'll be very happy.
  6. I know that ancestry.com has been around for a long time. I have never tried it and never really had any interest in such things until recently. I'm thinking now that it might be fun to at least see if I can trace the family tree back a little ways. Has anybody used them and are they worth the money?
  7. I looked at a web site posted by "Hunter 1500" about the Guardian bells and found this verse at the bottom of the page, I thought it put into perspective why each of us rides, not just Venture's but any motorcycle and should....for those who did not see it...be shared. We are all family Ian http://www.moccsplace.com/images/gif/twinkle.gif Our lives each touch a chord with all we encounter. That chord sounds out in a song that plays only a memory of times passed by. So sweet the passage of time, so bitter the memories of people passed by. We have but one life, and no matter how good or bad, we have the ability to shape the lives around us. In our own worlds we are miles apart, separated by our beliefs, our understandings, and our view on our world. The tides that bind us is friendship and common bonds that sweep forth and turn the tides that ravage human kind. We are connected in a single effort to belong together, and be a family of bikers. On our steeds we are set free, the problems of the world no longer apply. We find our peace, and each other. It is on the road we search, and our steeds take us far. We gather those who would accept us, and pass by those that will not. We share our love of riding, and our pain of loss. Each of us carries the scars left by a world not so understanding, but through all we endure we have each other. If you accomplish no more than this you have touched my life and made one person feel not so alone. You have given me a family that I never had, and welcomed me faithfully. I may be different from every one else, but truly on the road we are all brothers and sisters. Keep your rides safe, and let us meet and share a toast to new friendships, and better rides ahead. No one is the least in our band, no one, is rejected, when we are cruising together. --Mike Burnham "DrMikeRB"
  8. the young man 16 years old was making progress but now has started to regress and has become unresponsive ,,prayers are needed for this young man and his family ,i know i asked before but please keep him in your prayers
  9. It has been an interesting week for me. Last Friday I flew out to Houston and picked up my new to me 89 VR (Sorry I couldn't hang around for your birthday Don). Today I watched one of my great-nieces join the family business.
  10. Valerie and I took a little spur of the moment trip to the Smoky Mountains this weekend and we were joined by Eck and Konnie, Sleeperhawk and Mechanic and B2Dad, B2Mom, Stroker Ace and Denise also stopped by. We had a great weekend and as always it was great time to be with the VR family. While Bobbie took enough pictures for all of us I did manage to shoot a few. I've place them on my web site and they can be viewed at: www.traynorphoto.com/smokies2010 Thanks everyone, Dennis
  11. It is with a heavy heart I tell you that one of our own has some problems that could use all of our help in the form of prayers. The member's father is ill in their home land and it doesn't look good folks. Could you take a little time out of you busy schedules and offer up a few prayers over the next few day. I am sure they would be greatly appreciated. It is tough enough dealing with family illness but it makes it doubly hard from a distance. Since they haven/t made it public knowledge I hesitate to make it for them. You say the prayer and I am 100% positive that the man upstairs will hear them. This is an absolute. Godspeed to our friends and her family. And thank you VenturRide family. Steve aka Bubber
  12. ...She gained a son! Saturday at 11:30 Michelle Sparceno became Mrs. Glen Malek!! It was a beautiful cerimony and the reception in the evening was at a wonderful reception hal and everyone had a fantastic time! The reception line was sort of comical with Michelle having 2 sets of parents whereas the groom only has her mother left so even though she married into the Malek family she had more of her family to receive guests. Took a ton of pictures, about 500...
  13. Who? Only if you're descent Where? The patio @ Marcarl's When? Friday July 23 after supper Why? Dirt is getting older Kind of an open house type thing. It says it might rain, so cages are ok. Family may also show up, so be ready to meet some interesting folks.(I told them something different, and no I can't repeat it here.)
  14. Prayers please for the family of Tom Haugh. Cut down by another IDIOT cager! He was a good loving family man and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Not sure what else to say at this time except he is surely in heaven looking down at his family. SUWANEE — Police have charged a Suwanee woman in the death of a motorcyclist near a Gwinnett County high school last week. Police on Friday arrested Anne Clements, 46, on misdemeanor vehicular homicide charges and with failure to yield, a traffic violation. Investigators believe Clements was southbound on Suwanee Dam Road in a 2009 Honda Civic when she turned in the path of Suwanee resident Thomas Haugh, 53, who was riding a 2007 Kawasaki KL650 motorcycle. Haugh was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. Clements was attempting to enter a school driveway at the time of the 11:30 a.m. collision Thursday, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Brian Kelly. Kelly was unsure what purpose Clements had in visiting the high school. Jail records list her as unemployed. Clements posted $2,600 bond and was released from the Gwinnett County Jail later Friday.

  16. OK folks, the last of you finally left my house on Monday after maintenance day. I had to immediately head to Cincinnati for business and was there until Saturday evening. I was home Sunday and then had to leave again early yesterday morning on another business trip. So the net result is that I have been home for only ONE day since all of you left. While I was home Sunday, I was busy putty away the concrete blocks (benches), chairs, etc. from Maintenance Day. Changed the oil in my wife's Sorento, installed some window vent visors on it, paid bills, did all my company expense and call reports for the week, ordered some parts for the lawn mower, various other things that HAD to get done. So, I'm out of town again this week and then on Saturday, Eileen,, Dylan and I are leaving for a long neglected vacation. We still have a LOT of family in Texas so we are going to head that way for a couple of weeks. First to the East Texas area and then on to Dallas for a few days. Sorry, there will just be no time for visiting our VentureRider friends while we are there. We are going to be slammed for time just trying to see family that we haven't seen in close to 10 years. Now as many of you know, I have the forum setup so that I get emailed every post made here. That is usually several hundred emails per day. There are likely going to be several days that I will not have email access and the number of emails building up is going to be tremendous so I am probably going to turn off the emailing of posts while I am gone. What this means is that if you post something that is specifically directed at me, I may well miss it. If you have something important that I really need to address, you will probably want to send me a PM about it. That way I will be sure to see it, though it may be a few days before you get a response. To be honest, I'm not really looking forward to this vacation. I am excited to see family that I have not seen in several years but trying to get around to all of them is going to be hectic and not very restful. It is time to make the effort though.
  17. To Many the ride this will be one of those nice Trailer P(*&(*& moments. But there are many of us that just have to think about a lot of things. So how do you tie in vacation, Biking, family and make everyone happy? Well for our Family I think I have found the answer and we are all very excited. This weekend we purchased a toy hauler made by forest river called and ez 16 it is large enough to haul my tour deluxe and the wife's 1100 classic along with all of the supplies we will need for a long weekend or week long vacation. Now when you empty this thing it turns into a very nice camping trailer. with Air, heat, Tv with dvd, stereo system with outside speakers. basic kitchenetter with 2 burner stove and seek, fridge, It has a porta potty. so you remove bikes, pull the chalks, lay a custom fit carpet down and use air mattresses or cots. http://www.nwcampersrv.com/minnesotarvsales/Forest-River-RV/Take-It-EZ/Toy-Hauler-Travel-Trailers.aspx#features Pretty slick set up and it does not break the bank. Of course the way this is set up the possibilities are endless.

  19. Hey Folks, As many of you know right now Ponch's dad passed away Saturday morning somewhat unexpectedly. David and I have been talking daily and he very much appreciates all the prayers and good vibes you have been sending to he and his family. I am posting up the funeral details here for those that are interested. The viewing will be in Tuesday 6-15-10 from 6 to 8 pm @ The Waco Memorial Funeral Home http://www.wacomemorial.com/ addy is 7537 I35 S exit 328 Hewitt rd. David had mentioned the outpouring of support and that it's taken his mother aback to a certain extent. Flowers aren't necessary, but you folks will have to make your own decision on that. Dave Pankow and I will be heading up to Waco after work tomorrow and if there are any in the Houston crew that would like to tag along we'll have my wagon and will stuff it as full as we can. Hope to see some of our members there, please keep David and his family in your thoughts, Davids fathers name was James Weldon Warren.
  20. Thanks Don & Eileen for sharing your home and hospitality with an ever growing Venture family. And to the Venture family, you're an awsome bunch!!! 21. I haven't been here in a while to see how eveyone's doing... Last week a pit bull that belongs to the neighbors was let off-leash and killed our youngest dog, Taffy. She was a funny-lookin' breed, a mix between a Shih-Tzu and a Miniature Pinscher. She wasn't even 2 years old yet, and was the ABSOLUTE sweetest animal you could imagine, and would fall asleep if anyone rubbed her little belly. Weighing in at 5lbs, she was no match for the 90lb Pit that crushed her body, broke her back, 2 legs, cracked her skull open, and mauled her torso in a matter of 15 seconds. She was still barely alive (Bleeding out and unable to breathe) when I ran back outside (after getting my gun) but the pit bull was nowhere to be seen. I had to put her down myself, and it's the hardest thing I've had to do in a LONG time. I included some pictures of her as a puppy, and a recent one with her boyfriend, Murphy. (who is VERY sad about the loss of his best friend.) As if I needed another reason to hate Pit Bulls, or the stereotypes that own them. Anyhow, we already took it up with Animal control, and they went as far as 'labeling the pit bull as dangerous.' That's it, simply because my dog wasn't on a leash (in my own dang yard) I'm working on a way to ensure the pit ceases to live as a result of high-velocity lead poisoning in the cranial region... No success yet. We are going to put up a simple wood post & wire-fence (since chain link was more than we could afford to have installed) and hope that will suffice in protecting our December-Due-Baby, 2 young girls, our Mini-Dachshund, and whatever dog we adopt next. If I'm not mistaken, I thought a VR Member owned a pet-shop, or a shelter of sorts in NC... I don't remember who it was, but we're soon to be looking for a new family member, and would love to keep it in the VR family too.
  22. im haveing computer problems but got your pm. im sending all of it complete radio amp. everything just cost of shipping and a donation to st judes its just takeing up room i know what they go for but hey this is a family type thing. i think its cheaper by going united postal take about 5-7 days?
  23. Cancelled my reservations for MD. Just too darn much going on this year and $$ tight. Deciding to stay close to home this year. Doesn't help that we bought a new camper either. Feel like I should get my money out of it and have more family time. Won't be long my son will be feeling too old to do stuff with Dad and Mom. Hope you all have a good time and everyone is safe.

hi folks i wish to post a mighty big thanks to a fellow venture rider and his wife. as some of you know last weekend i was heading over to leakey, texas to meet up with tom and a bunch of ventureriders. i was about 60 miles out of houston rolling at 75mph. all of a sudden my clearview windsheild flew off the bike. the sheild did not hit me or anyone else as it come tumbling back to earth. man what a rush, all that air pressure. i was able to pull over and look the bike over. i could see the sheild back down the road aways. i ended up picking up the sheild and returned home. i wish to thank VANCE he gave me a new clearview shield with a vent, wouldn't take anything for it. also thanks to his wife BRENDA for puting up with me as i arrived at their place at 8 am a full hour before i said i should be there. they even made me breakfast. had a nice couple hour visit with them in their lovely home. isn't this how it is with our big VENTURE FAMILY, helping each other out as we can. again much thanks to vance & brenda. best reguards don c.
  25. At 1 AM this morning my step-son passed away with his wife by his side and family nearby. Bill lost a short battle with cancer as he was diagnosed last September. He leaves behind a multitude of friends and family including a 3 year old daughter and a 5 year old son. 38 years on earth is too short yet long enough to make an incredible impact as Bill has done. God blessed us with Bill's presence and now we are blessed in knowing he is in God's hands.
