  1. Yesterday when we got up it was about 10 below zero here. It is warmer today...actually zero right now and is supposed to climb to a balmy 12 degrees F today. Actually staying fairly warm on the sleds but took the time yesterday to drive into Hayward and picked up a couple of facemasks. Also picked up a couple of very nice RibEyes. It's a tough life here but somebody has to do it.
  2. I recently started a restoration on an 85 Vmax for my son. The bike has only 11K miles on it but has been sitting since 1999. So far most everything has been in pretty good shape, considering the lengthy down time. The carbs, however are history. I am having a difficult time finding a set of carbs for it that are not way out of his price range, but I can find first gen Venture carbs fairly reasonable. Would these fit on the vmax? I'm sure if they do, there would be some loss in performance, but would they suffice until he can find OE carbs.
  3. I can't remeber if this was posted before but I think it is fairly cool. http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/lit-c1-bets-future-driving-gyro-balanced-two-212825259.html
  4. It is becoming an addiction. Buying, selling, and trading bikes. I have an opportunity to trade my fully farkled 2008 KLR650 to a guy for a 1995 BMW R1100GS that also appears to be fairly well equipped. 9000 miles on the KLR 60000 miles on the BMW What to do, what to do...... Perhaps there is a 12 step program. RR
  5. who lives close to me that has the gage and the knowledge to use it? I've had my bike for two years and have never had it done. of course it runs like a raped ape i think it's time to do it. I'm off on Tue and wed and can make the drive if it's fairly close. i know 1rooster has one but seems like we did he's a couple of years ago at the Lexington BBQ and i don't think he can set them but i could be wrong. thanks P.S. i live in black mountain,NC.
  6. Fairly new here and just wondering how many on here are Clean and Sober?
  7. Hey, Just wanted to give a call out to any of our family here who find themselves in the midst of the flooding in the NE. I grew up in Binghamton myself and have seen some of the pictures and I know its not a pretty sight. Having served in the fire service for over the past 26 years I have seen my share of trouble however find that flooding and the aftermath that goes with it still is fairly close to the top of things I hate the most. Our prayers are with any and all who find themselves in a low spot at the moment. Keep us in the loop and let us know if there are any needs we can address. All the best, Norm
  8. So I was washing the bike and I noticed that one of the tabs that holds on the left lower is broken. It is number 7 in the pic below. This is actually not a bad one to break because the lower still seems to be attached fairly well. My question is this something the dealer will replace under warranty? And is it worth the inevitable argument with the service manager? David
  9. Just came across this site ... fairly new. http://canadiancruisercustomizing.com/
  10. OK folks....just a little heads up here. I've decided to upgrade our server for VentureRider.org The hosting company is running a special and I need to take advantage of it. For very little more money, we will double our disk space, double our monthly bandwidth and almost double our ram. In addition to faster processors and etc. This should be fairly seamless with little or NO downtime. That's my hope anyway. I'll let you know just before I pull the trigger.
  11. I want to install some passing lights on my 07 RSTD. I called the Stealer and they said it cost $286.00 plus installation. The questions i have are can these be purchaesd cheaper and is the job fairly easy to do? Any advise or assistace you could afford me will be grealty appreciated. Mark:bagpipes-emoticon:

    Gs750t

Just for kicks I went and took a look at this bike today. Runs, needs starter and tires for sure. I guess these bikes have a following too. But I'm not sure. It comes with all the factory touring package...$600.00 Marcus Hook, PA I told him I thought the luggage alone is probably worth $300.00 to somebody who has one of these. It looks like a fairly decent project for a MC guy. Could make a few bucks on it, I'm thinking. Or a nice tourer for the wife? They are kinda fast thou.
  13. been looking to sell my 86 and can,t seem to get what i want for it so i am considering parting it out on e-bay. i have never done this and don,t want to go thru the time and effort if it,s not worth it. has anybody parted one out recently? is the market fairly strong for this? does the title go with the engine or not? just looking at my options and thanks for any thoughts/ideas. al

    Decals

Anybody know where I can get hold of a Star decal for the back window of my truck? Yamaha used to make a large bumper sticker that said "Star Motorcycles". I have looked everywhere but can not find anything. I would like to have a fairly large one that can be seen from a distance. Any help would be appreciated.
  15. It is that time of year again. January is right around the corner, thought it would be fun to hear some new year's resolutions. We could look back in a few months to see who kept them and who lost them. Mine will be fairly easy; To ride more and eat less, To laugh more and worry less, To be more thankful for what I have and less worried about what I don't. Now let's hear yours!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my venture family!!!!
  16. In Tae Kwon Do that is, My little guy and I tested and passed to the next belt level,I have a blue belt and Josh now has his red belt.Josh is really into this stuff and catches on fast he's been in it just over a year and his next test will be for brown belt.I'm doing fairly well for my age but I think I could have done a whole lot better if I started at 10 . For him it's all fun but for me it seems to be hard work.
  17. Went riding with JGorom today and as we were going down NY Route 63 saw a maroon MK1 for sale setting in a vacant lot. Didn't turn around to look closer but from the road it semed to be all there and fairly nice. I don't need another scoot at this time, but it may be a nice one to pick up if anybody in the area is looking for one.
  18. When I turn on the CB I hear what I would call white noise - a fairly loud hiss - It's level doesn't change with volume or squelch. Is this normal? When I transmit the other side hears a fairly loud humm together with my voice at a very low volume?? is that normal? How much clarity can I expect from this system ? I have a SWR meter but can't figure out how the wire connects to the antena - I see nothing in the manual?
  19. If you have any problems, please clear your cookies and try that first. If the side menus won't turn on or off and etc...or other issues. It is possible that you have duplicate settings for the site due to the different IP address. So far, things look great on my end. Hope it continues. I'm fairly confident at this point that we are going to be OK now.
  20. hey fellow first gen riders......I amsure you have covered this a few dozen times but i am fairly new to venture bikes. my back shock holds pressure but my front leaks down. i have checked for leaks and have not found any yet. Okay, so after only 6 months I've finally given in to the wife and bought a new helmet so I can hook up MY headset. Her's works fine, but I can't get mine to x-mit. I'm fairly sure it's going to be something little I'm missing, but I need HELP!
