  1. We are picking up our 2007 RSV this Wednesday, and I planned on adding some modes to the bike within the first month. Some things I wanted to add were the driving lights ( Light-bar ) . I added a light-bar on my VTX, and are familiar with wiring, relays etc. Is it hard to do on the RSV? I'm assuming the tank comes off etc? Also I planned on adding luggage rack. I noticed Yamaha makes a nice one for the bike, is that what you would recommend? I also plan on adding some LED's to the bike. About 200+ plus, so I'll be removing the gas tank, to light the engine, and running some up front of the bike, plus in the rear under the saddle bags. Any threads on this, so I can get some ideas for the placements of the LED's? Exhaust - Not sure on this one yet. I had 4 different exhaust systems on the VTX before liking the one I had. I'm looking for an exhaust system Little over stock, Little rumble down the road, but not loud enough to give the wife a headache when we take long trips, 300 miles + in a day Here was my last bike, before and after, so you can see I'm comfortable with working on bikes: http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm200/fltekdiver/cropped.jpg http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm200/fltekdiver/IMGP0305.jpg AND Here's MY GW with the LED's I added: http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm200/fltekdiver/Ledsbike.jpg
  2. any body do stock exhaust mods to make a little more noise ? I put on a set of 4-2-4 nasty boys and they are obnoxous, now I'am the guy everyone glares at, put some stainless steel wool in each one ,buts its bordering on illegal:stirthepot:
  3. ...the rear left hand cylinder? It seems to weep from the valve cover and every now and then I see drips on the chrome cover below. It's oily (not too bad) right above the exhaust flange.
  4. Whats the best sounding exhaust on a 1st generation venture? I've been seeing where alot of people have been putting on the HD roadking slipons. I would love to here some sound clips if you gotem! Thanks:thumbsup2:
  5. I have a nice 84 VR with only 33000 original miles that I have taken from mass to Florida via Skyline Drive and the BlueRidge parkway and it has a nice quiet exhaust exept it keeps coming loose. I found someone selling an original Yamaha replacement slip on mufflers for the VR and Vmax that were used and he said they were rich in sound and had a nice rumble. Well they work AWSOME but I can no longer listen to my radio but my water temp is alot cooler and the pickup is awsome. This without rejetting I love the sound and accelleration but I don't know if the people next to me will like me. I have had many bikes and this is the first that an exhaust has made a big difference. So should I put the old ones on and keep peace or ride like hell. TOM
  6. I am trying to order a set of chrome exhaust clamps in Canada. There are several references to USA suppliers (see below)- but not manufacturers. Would someone have the make and model of the best clamps to use for the RK muffler mod so that I could source them in canada? With a 28% exchange rate - these parts get expensive to order from the USA. Appreciate your help! Fits all 1 3/4" exhaust headers when attaching 1 7/8" O.D. mufflers Part Number: 24032 V twin mfg and are part # 31-9920
  7. Does anyone have a set of stock exhaust for a '08 RSV they want out of their shop. I am looking for a set cheap or cheaper. If you just want them gone before you throw them out I'll pay the shipping to get them out here so I can drill and try them. Let me know what you have. I want to do the exhaust mod on them and try it. Thanks
  8. A new 270 Mill $ Sattilite, to monitor the exhaust output of your bike, went up the other day, but did not make it into orbit. Crashed in the southern ocean somplace
  9. Okay, I'm on a quest!!! Last week we went to Steve Wagners for a mini maint. day. While we were there, Dave3 showed me his exhaust tips (On a stock exhaust system) he told me where he got his bike and told me they installed them. I contacted the Dealer and they couldn't help me. Maybe I didn't explain it well enough! In my searching I came across an article from 2005 in Motorcycle-usa.com see link below:(hope link works) At the bottom of the article there is a photo showing the tips saying "They can be removed, or turned around or swapped out with different ones with a set screw!" Does anyone here know where these can be found ? thanks in advance http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/275/936/Motorcycle-Article/2005-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe.aspx
  10. Hey guys, I have decided to sell a few of my accessories. Here they are, figured I would list them hear before going to ebay. PM me if you are interested. Baron's Bag Slash Slip-On Exhaust Paid $350.00 will take $250.00 plus shipping. These were only on the bike for about a month and are still in new condition. Driver Backrest This can be seen in my profile photo. It attaches to the bike with no modification and can be removed with no tools. Paid $150.00 will take $100.00 plus shipping. Cycle Sounds Speakers Paid $350.00 will sell for $200.00 plus shipping. Google Cycle Sounds and check them out. They work great if you are using stock exhaust but I would not recommend them if you will be adding loud pipes. Here is a link to my YouTube video if you would like to see and hear the pipes and other accessories. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqONccuv7E4]YouTube - '08 Royal Star Tour Deluxe w/ Barons Nasty Boy Exhaust[/ame] There is nothing wrong with any of these items. I have just ordered RK Mufflers, Mustang Seats and Chatterbox intercom units over the winter and don't need these anymore. Also, I have multiple items left off my 99 1100 V-Star I traded in on this bike. One item being a set of Cobra Slash Cut Slip on Exhaust. I will be listing them in the classifieds next time I am off work.
  11. Let me see if I get this. If the Road King mufflers fit with only a couple of custom make brackets, then say Vance and Hines mufflers should fit with custom made brackets. True? If so that opens a lot of doors when it comes to changing exhaust.
  12. I changed my own oil for the first time yesterday, and today I have a backfire on the right pipe during deceleration. More, it has a surging kinda sound in the idle. It's a subtle hiccup every so often that wasn't there before. Is there something I could have done during the oil change to cause this? If I take it to the dealer, can I claim warranty service? Or, should I wait for the Maintenance Day on March 15? Edit: I was looking at photos after posting this, and saw that when I first started the bike, the right pipe has "smoke" while the left does not. Is this a clue? (Large photo here: Two exhaust pipes, but one exhaust? on Flickr - Photo Sharing!) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3412/3207785037_816f114801.jpg
  13. Well i am trying to run the khrome werks exhaust again on the venture. I have made sure that it has no vacum leaks and no exhaust leaks. The pipes sound great , no backfires when shifting, but on decel a lot of pop, pop, pop. Not loud, more like a gurgle. Have also just done a carb sync. Is this just something that you have to live with when changing exhausts? P.s. - also have already sealed the small leak at exhaust y pipes. Any info would be great.
  14. tonight after a short ride downtown I noticed my right exhaust tip was turned off to one side. I turned it back and when I got home I couldnt see how its held on, didnt see a clamp to tighten it was a bit dark under there in the garage
  15. New to the forum and I have a question about my 2005 Midnight Venture. I have a 2005 Roadstar as well but these are totally different bikes! I've had the Venture for about a week now. When the Venture is cold it smokes a little out of the left exhaust pipe for about 1-2 minutes but as soon as it heats up its fine. The right side exhaust does not smoke but also does not warm up for almost 8-10 minutes. I can keep my hand at the exhaust pipe after 10 minutes and it is still not hot. I cannot do this on the left side exhaust. I also tried touching the exhaust pipe and I can do it on the right side but not on the left (after 10 minutes of run time). Should I be concerned? I am taking it to the dealer next week so they can transfer my warranty - I don't expect they will be much help.
  16. If anyone is interested in purchasing OEM exhaust please let me know. I figure I would ask you all before posting them on eBay. I used the exhaust for my 600 mile break in, then replaced them with RoadHouse slip-on's. They are in mint condition (no scratches, etc). After a recent trip to Chattanooga with 19 Harleys, I ended up replacing my 08 Venture with an 09 Street Glide. Great bike!!
  17. I have looked and do not see how the chrome trim is removed from exhaust to check for leaks. Any ideas? I am sure i have just overlooked something
  18. Hey all, I'm getting a loud backfire/pop through the exhaust on longer decel. (eg. downshifting on the highway, before an exit ramp etc.) Have the stock mufflers on, had RK's, drilled, and thought it might be because of the open pipes, so went back to stock, and the AIS is plugged. Possible exhaust leak? Was wondering if anybody has had a similar condition, and what you may have done to fix this as it is annoying. The carbs have never been played around with, so was wondering if that may have something to do with it. Have not noticed a performance change though. The bike has 40k miles on it. Please help.
  19. Has anyone bought or had experence with these exhaust? http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5335830059&customid=&toolid=10004&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D230299008124%09 I've seen where several people have used the RK exhaust system and there are several that sell brackets. This seller has the whole kit. Any feed back would be great.
  20. Does anybody know if a V-max exhaust system will fit an early venture? Thanks, mk.
  21. Hello all, Wow, these bikes are amazing, they run so well on 3 cylinders, you hardly know one is fouled. It seems that I keep fouling one of my plugs, when I take it out it is wet, then I put a new one in and it runs real well for a while. I have gotten pretty good at touching the exhaust pipes shortly after start up to see if they are all warm. So what is the most likely source of this fouling do you think? D
  22. A few months ago I ordered a set of Barons Bag Slash for my '08 RSTD. I enjoy the sound of them I'm only having one problem. When they shipped the pipes to me they sent the wrong size exhaust clamps. They were stainless and not big enough to cover the gap where the slip on ends and the bare pipe below shows. I called them and they said they would ship the clamps to me. After waiting 2 months the clamps arrived they are the right diameter just still way to narrow to cover the gap. I'm tired of dealing with them. I have a friend with a 04 Venture and his pipes came with some wide chrom clamps. Does anyone know where I can get a set of the wide chorme exhaust clamps. Thanks to all!
  23. I just came across this video on YouTube. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ6A5yBT9Fk]YouTube - 2004 yamaha venture engine[/ame] It's a little loud but this is the best sounding Venture that I have ever heard. Anyone know which exhaust this is?
  24. I've read on here about the changing the exhaust by installing the harley or by getting aftermarket pipes. Has anyone on here ever removed their factory mufflers and modified them as most have done with the harley pipes? Aftermarket pipes are out of the question do to cost. Why can't the stock exhaust be modified as the harley pipes? are they that much different inside? Sorry for the questions, but I would like my 02 to sound more like a motorcycle than a sewing machine , not loud, just a nice low deep rumble. Thanks.....

    Exhaust

This is my first time posting on here. Exhaust question- is louder better or not? I have almost been ran out of the road before because of someone in a car not hearing or seeing my bike. I have noticed when riding in my truck that if a motorcycle with loud exhaust is beside of me then I can hear it before seeing it. If you change exhaust do you have to have the carb. rejetted? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Hairman
