hi. i need to replace my stator. there are so many vendors on ebay. which ones have you used? thanks.

It looks like the dreaded pogo effect has started. The rear shock will hold air but the damping is going. Unfortunately the warranty ended last October so I'm on my own. I hate to drop $600 on new one but I don't trust something used from eBay for something like this. Does anyone know of a viable alternative or am I pretty much stuck on this? Can't complain too much though, I have 90k on the bike so it's not like I didn't get any use out of it?

Anyone buy one of these from ebay? Where did you install it? Any specific install instruction?

I have been dealing with plugged pilot jets on my 84 all this year. As most know seafoam doesn't work well on plugged jets and I didn't want to stop riding the bike long enough to rebuild them. Amazingly enough with the idle cranked up to 15-16grand i'm still getting 37mpg and able to ride. I found these on Ebay and placed a bid. When I got up today I was happy to find I won. $121 with shipping. Does anyone know if all 83's had the adjustable needles?http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=380440103134&si=ZMX9op6qie0ucLl6clKQXmfoPKc%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3AOC%3AUS%3A3160&vxp=mtr&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I'm new to the Venture world and will be installing a 1300 transmission in my 83 to fix and upgrade the 2nd gear issue. I figure since I'll be there anyway, this may be the perfect time to upgrade the starter as well, along with starter cables. I'd like to go to the newer 4 brush starter if I can get one cheap enough. Been looking at them on ebay it seems very doable. From what I've read, it sounds like any 2nd generation or newer will work, so this means anything Yamaha Venture from 93-2012 will fit. Am I right?

I was looking for a left midnight saddle bag, and stumbled onto this auction selling both on ebay. Some outfit tried to snipe it at the end, but I ended up with them. Here is a LINK A while back a rider behind me took off before me at a light, and climbed up the left rear of the bike, pushing me over on the right side. All cosmetic damage to paint and chrome pieces, and his insurance cut me a check for all new parts, about $3200. I ordered the parts from Yamaha dealer and one of the saddle bags arrived with scratches, so they sent it back and ordered another. It arrived and they called me and said it looked like a conveyor belt or something chewed the box up, so sending it back. I then cancelled that bag. I've been keeping an eye on used parts, when I saw this auction pop up. Since saddlebags are around $1000 new a piece, I'm pretty sure even if I have the two I won custom painted, I will come out ahead. Shipping is a tad high, but as my momma would say... I stoled that..... Ex

Sometimes I wonder if sellers on Fleabay play with a full deck!!! Some of the first class CRAP that dealers try to pawn off just amazes me! Also, some dealers want to become millionaires overnight when they have a decent item but want waaaaaay too much for their merchandise! The frightening part is there are people out there WILLING to pay for both kinds of stuff!! Not saying that there are still deals out there, I still find a few, but it seems like things are getting out of hand! I can remember times when you would click on the ebay link and find 400 items if you were lucky, but now there are a minimum of over 10000!! What's up with that?!!?

Ok, I've been gathering parts for my R1 upgrade for my '84 for a while. Got the calipers a while back and a set of MKII rotors have been hanging on the wall for a while. I had bought a set of MKII forks during the summer and they were in such bad shape I scrapped them. The PO, before they were listed on eBay had beat the daylights out of the lowers and scarred the upper so bad it destroyed any chance of ever getting a seal to seat again. So this is where I'm confused today. I bought another set of forks off eBay listed as off an '87. The pics looked ok and all the parts seemed to be there. But, when they arrived today I took them down to clean them up and strip them down I noticed they were different from the last set I bought. The anti-dives (electric) mount on the front of the fork, not the side like the MKII pics I have seen from you guys in the past. Then what caught my attention was that there was no cinch bolt on the one side. The outer section is threaded for the axle with the shoulder for the axle to ride on in the inner section. Did I miss something somewhere? I thought the axles were the same of both MKI & MKII. But the AD's on the front threw me. Does the MKI axle thread into the lower or am I going to need a different axle? The flanges for the R1's line up fine. Every thing else looks like it should. So tell me what I am looking at. Mike

Anyone know where the rails that help protect the top of the saddlebags can be obtained. There was a set on ebay a few days ago but they disappeared.

:whistling:I came off the money yesterday and replaced the original battery that came new in my 04 Silverado. I just realized it had been in there for 8 years and still cranking.Just begining to notice slow turnovers in cold weather so I replaced it. I want to be ready. You never know when one might hit the buy it now button on ebay and have to make a trip somewhere after a good First Gen. Like Baltimore,Florida,Arkansas,North Carolina, Maine, Pittsburg, Michigan etc.

I remember Bongobob telling me that they were rare. I guess that was an understatement! I thought about it but it wasn't worth it to me. Maybe because my bike already has the chrome vents and I was thinking that this might be good for a back up set. Oddly enough two different sets showed up on Ebay at the same time. The other set was pretty banged up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/230728628260?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649

While grazing on Ebay in early Dec. 2011 I saw a 1986 VR ( item 150711597381, photos were still up recently), advertised as a project bike. Finally bid ended at $680, which I thought was cheap for such a fine older machine. Winning bidder never paid and I was offered the VR for bid price, shipping to my home added $400 but still cheap for a diamond in the rough. Found your very friendly and informative site while the bidding on the VR was still active and joined on ,12/8. As you have said best $12 I've spent. I've already found a very nice replacement seat, windshield and normal maintenance items, and of course downloaded manuals etc. Not surprising that a complicated machine with many electrical/electronic devices which are 26 years old (isn't that about 78 in motorcycle years) is in need of TLC. Along with working on the defects noted in Ebay listing a thorough fork and steering head rebuild/upgrade is planned.Pleased to see that several members have a machining background.

I am donating a center stand for a RSV bike. Opening price is $99.99, buy it now for $249.99. Shipping is $15.00 to US lower 48 states. My ebay fee & paypal fee will be deducted from selling price and balance will be donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital via DragonRider (Lewis Cramer). Decided to sell it through Ebay to try and get some more exposure for it. If you are interested in bidding on this and don't have an ebay account, PM me and we can figure a way to do this. I can't bid on my own item, but I have friends. Remember this is not only a center stand, its a donation for kids. Gary

I have to replace the cable that sits on top of the gas tank (CB/Headset cable). When installing the driving lights I noticed the cable was frayed so at the time I just tucked it up under the cover on the gas tank as I don't usually use the CB. Does anyone know what cable this is called as I have talked to the people at Pin Wall and they are not sure which cable I need. I noticed some call them intercom cables and some say it is a CB cable. They have a bunch listed on ebay. I would like to know which is the proper cable so I don't order the wrong one. Possibly someone on here could look at Pin Wall site or ebay site and send me a link or ebay number. Thanks in advance Dana

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Oil-Filter-Genuine-Part-Made-Japan-/140616854793?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20bd6aed09 Found this item on ebay. A Yamaha oil filter for 22 bucks PLUS shipping. Just how stupid does the seller really think we are. But I still wonder if anyone has actually bought one of these from him. 1 5GH-13440-00-00 ELEMENT ASSY, OIL CLEANER $7.65 @ Stadium Cycle in Texas.
