  1. Wondering if anyone else has had problems with pre-mature H.O. RM Stator failures. Attached pics are of RM Stator installed less than 9 months ago (~10k miles). No warning on the failure... all systems go until voltage dropped to 12V during a PGR ride. Coil resistance measured .1-.3 across the three output wires. 2. Ok, I need to donate to the DBF (Dropped Bike Fund) Dropped the wing in the Dairy Queen parking lot on the way home from vacation. I was trying to turn around with the trailer hooked up and there was a big dip in the parking lot that left my Left leg dangling in mid air which in turn made us S L O W L Y go over. No harm no foul and really easy to pick the Wing up. Boy those crash bars really do a god job. So..............where do I send it?
  3. Well it has happened. I dropped a helmet for the first time. I have bumped my helmet before, on a door frame or wall, but this time, totally my fault, my helmet bounced. It was sitting on my seat, which I have done many many times, my helmet sits nice and flat on the seat. But not when it gets knocked off by a stray elbow . Anyways, I have been wearing this HJC Symax for about 3 years, and I am considering 2 helmets. HJC Symax II and the Shark Evoline. Does anyone have reviews, or good places and prices for either of these? Having worn HJC all my biking life, I am comfortable with them, but that does not mean I am opposed to trying a new company that has good reviews. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. This will be a quick purchase, as I am not sure exactly how much damage this helmet has.
  4. OK I have this "Friend" who dropped his RSV 2008 BlackCherry over Raven and REALLY MESSED up his Fairing Scratched both colors and gouged the ABS and plastic Chrome Piece too. I know my "Friend" will not be calling his Insurance Co because he dropped it. I'm sure "Somebody" here has been in this boat before? What is this Mess-up gonna cost my "Friend"? My "Friend" has a sick feeling in his stomach he is so upset! PEPTOBIZMO (cherry flavor) guzzled.
  5. Yesterday my starter made a loud clunk "bang" noise when i push the start button but not all the time any suggestions what ma be the cause. Is this something I can fix or is a new starter in my future. 83std. Also the spring for the oil filter dose it go on the housing side or the frame side I dropped it when I took it off and not sure where to put it the parts pic looks like it goes to the housing side. Thanks, Dale
  6. I dont know were to post this but have a question, I was leaving my parents lastnight and for some reason the last 30ft of there drive is gravel because they didnt want it all the way to road dont have a clue why but any way started to stop at the end and was marbels and the front tire rolled out from under me and I dropped it with my girl friend on the back, thank you crash bars no one was hurt. Any suggestions on how to ride on these so I dont do this again. Thanks for any advise
  7. Today we put together about 100 bikes for a dice run. the procedes went to the family of a little girl (8 years old) to help her family pay the bills while they are with her at duke hospital. She is fighting brain cancer. During the ride I thought I was the only yamaha in the group, but at the second stop I soon realized I wasn't. The beautiful road star pulled up behind me. I got a few pics with my camera phone and will post them as soon as I figure out how to resize them. VR site says I can't upload them unless they are under a certain size and I think it is just over. Talked to the owner and his wife about the site so who knows, maybe they will come and visit us. 100 bikes and we raide approximately 3 grand for this little girl and her family. If I had to miss the saint judes ride I guess this is a good excuse. P.S. I dropped my bike coming into the parking lot. Lady in front of me moved over into my line and my choice was to hit her or hit the brakes. Needless to say I chose the brakes and then it was on. gravel doesn't make for good quick stops. no major damage just a few more scratches. Then I proceded to imbarass a few of the harleys when they decided to race the rice burner. When I went into second gear she got scarry strong and picked the front tire up. No more takers after that. I,m broke this week after the charity run but I promise I will send my $5 opps i dropped it fund in next week. David
  8. Longs lines, frustration, and evening fist fights breaking out in the south east over no gasoline. Whats the problem seems to be plenty here even dropped the price .30 cents this week. Were now paying $3.68 for regular.
  9. dropped my bike while rocket was here.. just as i was going into the garage i hesitated as i went thru the door and i couldnt reach the ground, ( there is a dip there), and i laid the bike down ever so gently against the edge of the garage.. GREAT NEWS !!! i laid it down so gently that i didnt even scuff it where it rested on the garage.. :clap2:
  10. Went in to the DMV in FL today to get the motorcycle endorsement on my license. I dropped it when moved here and had to get my license changed. I had a CDL and had endorsements and they were making a mess of it, so I did not notice the motorcycle endorsement had been dropped. I had sold my bike before I moved so just shrugged it off and told myself I would just add it back later. Well, I found out by reading their booklet that effective July 1, 2008, the state is getting out of the motorcycle driver's license business altogether, except for the actual issuance. From 7/1/08, you have to attend a privately run motorcycle driver's course(at any fee they choose to charge), they will do all the testing(written/practical) and give you a certificate. You take it to the DMV and for $15(up from $5), they will put the endorsement on your license. Cheapest I found was $185. So, not counting the gas/lunch money for the class, your license now runs you $200. Pretty good jump from $5. I also see some parallels to the privatization of the smog krap Calif had where friends of the shop got it for free or reduced, some passed that shouldn't, etc. Oh, and they only do the test on Wed and it is booked, so that finshes the month.
  11. Well I am off to pick up my new bike, its about 30f hoping it warms up alittle, I have a feeling the temps arent going to matter much on that 100 mile ride home. Really anxious to ride the 06 never rode a 2nd gen, never dropped the 1st gen, hope to keep that streak going on the new one:whistling: I will give my first impressions after the trip. Craig
  12. Just thought I'd toss this out there as since Big Bike Parts dropped them I had a heckofa time finding this....a "must have" farkle! http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2003561/p-2003561/N-111+10211+600014777/c-10111
  13. Those that have dropped their bike and those that will.
  14. I just used the "Donations" button on the top toolbar of this page again! Any of you that read my " The Oficial "I Dropped My Bike At Vogel" Thread" know that I decided to donate $5.00 for dropping my bike. Well, yep, I did it again! And it happened the same way as last time. I was stopped on a slight hill ready to make a left (blocking traffic for our ride at the M&E), and as I started out the tranny popped into neutral! Leaned for the turn + sudden loss of momentum = oops! I laid the RoadSofa gently on it's side, stepped off and "walked" it back up. Heck, I even keyed the PTT button with my little finger as I was lifting, to answer Muffinman when he asked if I needed help! Oh well, stuff happens!
  15. Took my RSV to a local 5 star rated dealership to have passing lamps and a wider windshield installed. Although all the parts were there when I dropped the bike off, it still took a week to get it done. Then, when I go to pick up the bike, there is severe damage to to the fairing (i.e. a scrape 3 inches wide and 18 inches long), left lower (i.e. outer edge scraped), highway peg bent to a 45 degree angle revealing that they had obviously dropped the bike. The illegal alien employee who pushed my bike out on to the parking lot swore in broken English that he knew nothing about the damage. Needless to say, I went balistic. The service manager said he would have to investigate to make sure I had not brought the bike in already damaged. WTF? When he saw that I was about to get midevil on him he changed his toon and said they'd make it right. Doesn't anyone take responsibility for their actions anymore? I am so fed up with the level of incompetence of these metric bike dealerships (Yamaha & Honda both), I feel like saying screw it and just going back to Harley Davidsons. At least they know how to treat a customer after the sale. Their customer service is first rate. Sorry for the rant but I'm just sick of this crap.
  16. After a great weekend with putting at least 500 miles on the bike and it running great, I dropped a cylinder at lower RPM's today. As I was slowing down to pull into City Hall to pay speeding ticket I got in my wife's Maxima, there was a loud "pop" and a cylinder went dead. It did not sound like an exhaust pop. After I came out and was riding home, I had a definite miss up to about 2,500 RPM's and then it seems like all four are pulling good. After getting off work tonight, I went out in the garage and started the bike and let it run for about 30 seconds at a little above idle. I then cut it off and felt of each exhaust. The right rear was still cold. I put another spark plug on the wire and restarted the bike. It had very good fire. I then pulled the diaphragm and it looked good. I kind of sounds like the pilot jet may be clogged on that carb, but I don't know where the pop came from unless it was thru one of the carbs. I am going to take a look at that plug and may pull the carbs to look at that one. I am open for suggestions if anyone has any. Thanks, RandyA
