  3. What can be done with the exhaust system on an 05 Tour delux. I'm looking for a louder rumble. I had deafening on my last bike and while attention getting, there was enough draw backs I don't want something that loud again. and I don't really want to get the drill out either, help me guys what's available (links or pic's if you got 'em please)
  4. Total maint. day today. Had the rear tire off and was cleaning the splines, but unsure how to get into the areas in the wheel where the splines go??????????? Found out that a 20 gauge shotgun brass bore brush works great on the end of a drill! Bought at Wally World for a buck and a half. Inserted on the end of my cordless and the brush cleaned out the holes super fast! I think I'll keep a cpl. in my tool box!
  5. I ordered today from Mustang, a 3 Pouch studded windshield bag to match the studded seat from my midnight venture. But I'm afraid that the mounting support is to short ... can I drill 3 little holes in the windshield and use windshield bolts to attach it…and do I need a special drill bit for drilling holes .. I don’t like to take the risk that I may crack my new windshield.

  7. Hey Vic- I was just wondering if your motorcycle won more trophies this year at the Reno Star-B-Q? Sorry we couldn't meet up with you while you were here. Tom had drill this weekend and went to the range. M.
  8. I have a set of Ultra Classic mufflers and I am going to drill the baffles using a 1 1/4 hole saw. After I drill thru the front or rear baffle plate does that completely disconnect them or will I have to twist and shake it to break it loose from a tack weld farther in the muffler? I have read all the posts I could find and I know the procedure except for this. AL
  9. Here are some pics of an RSV muffler that I opened up. If you look closely at the rear section you will see tha drilling holes in the rear cone does nothing if you don't also drill the second plate. I can post more pics if anyone wants a specific view. AL
  10. Has anyone not drilled RK newer mufflers with the cat. converter? Is it necessary to drill the cat. converter?
  11. Need some help here guys if you would...I have read all of the post on lowering the bag rails to make the "LINE" a little more eye appealing....I have checked the Venturers.org site...Drill new hole....yes...no.... Another was no new hole..but use existing hole that is their and drill one new hole in the rail?? I was wondering if some of you experts on this might look and the rails now and tell me if they can be lowered as much as an inch...they way I measure it... please look here: http://picasaweb.google.com/gharbourjr/2006RoyalStarVenture/photo?authkey=2CE6TTT04BI#5178871605343716242 Any input would be appreciated... Thank you in advance for your time.. George In Virginia...
  12. I know there are several hams on this forum...yall are welcome to listen to our local ARES/RACES emergency drill on this audio stream: http://216.167.132.7:8000/listen.m3u Open that link with your media player, and you should hear our audio feed. The feed will be active most of today and probably, tomorrow also. This is a communications drill. There are several simulated emergencies that are ongoing. You will hear 2 meters on the left channel, and 440 on the right channel, with 2 meters having priority in the stream. Of course, anyone can listen, you do not have to be an Amateur Radio operator to listen in. Signal reports are welcome!

  15. Installing Stock Weights on Flanders Bars First I need to give credit to the basic idea here to Kbran. He posted a while back that he had done this when he installed his Flanders bars and it sounded like the way to go. The only difference is that he welded his and I opted for a set screw approach. The main reason being that I'm not a very good welder. This is a bit time consuming but I like the stock weights so it was worth it for me. Pretty straight forward job that most anybody should be able to do. After removing the bars, you will see the factory weld that holds the threaded sleeve in place. I simply used a bench grinder to grind the bars down in that area until the plug just fell out. Drill a hole in the Flanders bars approximated 3/4" from the end. The size hole you drill will depend upon the size set screw you use. I picked up a couple of 10/28 screws 1/4" long at the hardware store so used a drill size that I could tap for 10/28 Screw the insert onto the end of the weight and push it all the way in and then using a marker, mark the insert through the hole. Now you can see the mark where you will need to drill and tap the insert to match the hole you drilled in the bars. Drill and tap. Screw the insert back onto the weight. You will also need to tap the hole that you drilled in the Flanders bars to the same size. At this point, I slid the throttle grip on. You can't see it in this next picture but the throttle grip is already slid on so that once the weight is installed, I just slide it back to where it is supposed to be. Insert the weight with insert into the bar. Line up the holes and insert your set screw. The screw needs to be flush with the outside of the bars. Especially on the throttle side to make sure the throttle can turn freely. It will be almost flush if you use a 1/4" long screw. Just a very little dressing with a smooth flat file will get it just right. That's all there is to it. Do the other side and you are done.
  16. I had posted up a responce on a thread in the watering hole about stopping a crack in your windshield. As far as stopping the crack, you need to get a very tiny drill bit and locate the end of the crack. Take the drill and drill a small hole through the exact point at where the crack ends. In the service we did this to aircraft (called stopdrilling) It relieves the pressure on the crack and stops it from traveling more.
