  1. As most of you know I lost my dear wife last Oct. in a motorcycle accident. I've been struggling with this everyday since and more so since I came back home from the hospital. I still cry almost everyday. Today the weather was nice and I went out to the shop. I got my '32 Ford out and gave it a wash, aired up the tires and met some friends for coffee. When I came home I went back out and started working on the '06 RSV. I got one new tire on, changed the oil in the rear end and put a few pieces of safety chrome on along with my Bubs and HD fishtails. It sure felt good to work out there with the doors open and the sun shining. A friend called and invited me out for dinner so I jumped into the '32 Ford and picked him up and went for a great turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Even splurged and had a apple dumpling for dessert. I haven't been eating dessert for a while now. Although I'm really beat right now, I really enjoyed the day. And that's something I haven't been able to say for a while.
  2. Saw TAZMOCYCLE at the annual Iron Butt dinner ride today in Stockton,AL. There sure was alot of BMW's there. There were some from Illinois,Kentucky and all over the South East. To bad it was raining. And of course there were a number of RSTD's and Ventures. The food was outstanding!!! Will be doing a dinner ride on Jan. 1 to Butler,AL, there were 500 bikes last year. Maybe I will see some of you there. tew47 Gene Weir
  3. Okay my friends. Seeing that the bulk of our members live in the northern hemisphere and are hours behind the rest of the world, I think it's time I chimed in to wish you all a Merry Christmas (MC) from Down Under (DU). The big fat fella in the red suit has been and gone and there are reindeer droppings all over the front lawn. My wife and I have had a great morning with the entire family doing the pressies thing, and right now #1 son is finishing off preparing a baked dinner for Christmas lunch. As I type it's approaching 2pm on Christmas day, and we have lots left yet to do. Sun down is around 8:10pm and about then it will be time for our next BBQ dinner in the garden. Ah, summer! So as you wake and begin to share your day with your loved ones, and have a quick look at the website, let me wish you all a fantastic day as I start to wind down. Peace and blessings, love and light to everyone from Australia - where the wide open spaces make riding a real Venture. Cheers, Spear
  4. Met Joopie today, he just walked right in as if he had been here before. We shook hands, introduced each other, said hello, talked about business, and the girls, went out to see if Scamper was still alright, talked about room for the most important in life, felt a gentle warm breeze, gave him some pepperettes and there he was gone. Wonder why he came around? Maybe just to get an invite for dinner with his bride of 30 years. Well he got it, and soon we'll eat and meet together. Actually he's quite a nice guy, rides a Venture (2nd gen:confused:) and is looking to do some Venturing around when it gets warmer, looking forward to it already.
  5. Happy Anniversary Mamamo. What happened to the good old days when dinner and a $20 gift was fine? I took her to the mall the other day and said you pick something out? She said how much can I spend? Ahhh $100.00 :whistling:. She was insulted. I even offered to look at the craftsman tools but had no takers. Dinner was $100.00 been 26 years does it get better or just more expensive?I hope you like the Ruby?
  6. THANKS FOR OF THE WISHES AND THOUGHTS CONCERNING MY ACCIDENT, THAT EAGLEEYE POSTED EARLIER. I THINK I GOT TO SEE MOST OF THEM. NOT SHOUTING, BUT TYPING WITH ONE HAND. I HAVE GOT TO SAY THAT THE EMT'S, SHERIFF DEPUTY, DOC'S AND NURSES THAT TOOK CARE OF ME AT HESS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN MAUSTON, WI WERE GREAT. MY RIDING BUDDY, BRIAN (RIDES A HONDA 599) SPECIAL THANKS. HE GOT TRAFFIC STOPPED AND CALLED FOR HELP RIGHT AWAY AND DID NOT LET THEM TAKE MY HELMET OFF. MY NEIGHBORS WHO ARE HELPING ME WITH PICKING UP PERSCRIPTIONS AND MADE MY DINNER LAST NIGHT. SO MANY PEOPLE TOOK GOOD CARE OF ME. THANKYOU! :bighug:I AM TRULY FORTUNATE. I HAVE TO SAY IT....WEAR YOUR HELMET...YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN A NICE AFTERNOON BIKE RIDE CAN GO VERY, VERY WRONG.
