1. happy birthday bubber. enjoy your day
2. To all the Veterans, past and present, I am very thankful to be able to honor your service to our country. This coming Veterans Day, my flag will be flying from my right front porch post. In honor of you and all that have served this wonderful country that God has allowed me to raise my family, and to live in, with peace. To attend church and serve God as I please. To have the freedom to be able to hunt and fish as I so enjoy. This is very important for me to be thankful for this upcoming Thanksgiving Day and Christmas season of giving. Thank you all so very much. Respect, Honor, PGR ..... Thank you all.... :thumbsup2: :usa: :usa: :usa:
3. While on cycle trip, my mic mute is acting up. One day it works...the next it doesn't. When it does work, then it's been good for the day. when not working, neither ptt button has any affect...the mic is always live. I checked all connections under seat but don't have tools or desire to split fairing while on the road. Anyone ever had weird problem witn them before?
4. The bikes are put away for the winter.
5. Today was a beautiful day, clear, sunshine, not even a sniff of a possibility of rain in the forecast. In general a great day for a bike ride, and there ain't many good days left till the salt trucks come out to play. So I go out to the shed to start getting the bike out and I get this weird feeling that says I should take the truck to work today. So I finally give in to my feelings and take the truck to work, about a half mile from home I see red and blue flashing lights up ahead. So I am pretty much paying attention to what is going on up ahead when WHAM I hit something that I never saw. Of course I stop immediately to figure out what happened and hear banging on the bottom of the truck. So I shut off the engine fearing that I just ran over some kid I never saw. This happened about 2 blocks past the school right in the middle of town. I jumped out of the truck to see what is under me and there is a deer kicking and squirming like crazy. Well that was a big relief to know it was not some kid. At which point my brain immediately switched gears into thinking of fresh venison steak for dinner tonight. But before I could do much else the deer wiggled out from under the truck and took off running full blast right down the middle of the road. The stupid deer took all of my fresh venison steak with it. The deer did not appear to be injured and there was no damage to my truck other than a clean spot where the deer rubbed off some of the dirt that was carefully placed over the last year. When I was thinking it was a kid under there I think I was to scared to need new shorts, so no damage there either. But had I been on the bike right there and then this might be a very different story. Sometimes it pays to listen to that little voice in the back of your head. It is the silly season for deer. They are coming into the rut and will be running everywhere like crazy. Keep your eyes open for them at ALL times of the day and night. Those bucks only get lucky once a year and they will not let you or anything else get in their way.
6. We're flying out to Las Vagas Monday AM with Brother-in-law and his wife, we've never been there and they've been there enough to have our rooms comped for the week. We're using sky miles for the flight and a comped hotel so the whole up-front cost is less than $200 for all 4 of us. Realistically, it should cost about that much per day per person so it looks like I've got a lot of spare cash to use for ?? One thing we definitely going to do is a day trip to the Canyon, going to take a bus and let somebody else worry about traffic. Nope, not gonna walk out on that glass thingy - I get nervous just looking over the edge of a hill - Most likely this will be the last thing said about the trip because everybody knows that what happens in Vegas - - - -
7. Ok Folks, I started a post to see if there was interest in a Houston Maintenance Day, folks are sounding like they want one. So here it is, Saturday October 27th will be the main work day, but anyone wanting to come over Friday afternoon and spend a couple of nights are more than welcome. We have 2 1/2 acres and plenty of space for pop up trailers and tents. I have all the tools we'll need to do just about anything you want to try and accomplish. I will ask that you bring whatever fluids you want to change with you. I do have a vacuum bleeder, a Carb and Color Tune, and I'll borrow the tire machine from Doodle and we can do some tires if folks want to. If you can give a yea or nay up top it will give me an idea of how much grub we need to think about. If you have any questions PM me or give me a call, my cell is in my profile. Looking forward to seeing all the brethren again
8. The Cow, The Ant and The Old Fart A cow, an ant and an old fart are debating on who is the greatest of the three of them. The cow said, "I give 20 quarts of milk every day and that's why I am the greatest!" The ant said, "I work day and night, summer and winter, I can carry 52 times my own weight and that's why I am the greatest!" Why are you scrolling down? It's your turn to say something, Carl
9. Drafting Guys Over 60 This is funny & obviously written by a Former Soldier... New Direction for any war: Send Service Vets over 60! http://us.mg205.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=2%5f0%5f0%5f1%5f243996%5fAMHVimIAAREoUIVdsgpndxDcSn0&pid=1.2&fid=Inbox&inline=1&appid=YahooMailRC I am over 60 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing ass-backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 35. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. 'My back hurts! I can't sleep, I'm tired and hungry.' We are impatient and maybe letting us kill some ******* that desperately deserves it will make us feel better and shut us up for awhile.. An 18-year-old doesn't even like to get up before 10am. Old guys always get up early to pee, so what the hell. Besides, like I said, I'm tired and can't sleep and since I'm already up, I may as well be up killing some fanatical s.o.b. If captured we couldn't spill the beans because we'd forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser. Boot camp would be easier for old guys.. We're used to getting screamed and yelled at and we're used to soft food. We've also developed an appreciation for guns. We've been using them for years as an excuse to get out of the house, away from the screaming and yelling. They could lighten up on the obstacle course however... I've been in combat and never saw a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training. Actually, the running part is kind of a waste of energy, too... I've never seen anyone outrun a bullet. An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He's still learning to shave, to start a conversation with a pretty girl. He still hasn't figured out that a baseball cap has a brim to shade his eyes, not the back of his head. These are all great reasons to keep our kids at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off into harm's way. Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten coward terrorists. The last thing an enemy would want to see is a couple million pissed off old farts with attitudes and automatic weapons, who know that their best years are already behind them. HEY!! How about recruiting Women over 50...in menopause!!! You think MEN have attitudes?? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh my God!!! If nothing else, put them on border patrol. They'll have it secured the first night! Send this to all of your senior friends...it's in big type so they can read it.
10. OK folks. After taking a quick look at my schedule for 2013, I'm thinking about having my maintenance day on the weekend of June 8th. That is well after Marcarl's meet and the week before father's day. Am I missing anything?
11. Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday dear Squidly... Happy birthday to you!! Happy birthday Daddy hope you have a wonderful day!! XOXO:Crazy_139:And many more!!
12. Seattle !!!! 80 days and 80 nights, """ AND NO RAIN """ in Seattle !!!!!!! ( well it drizzled one night, about 1/10th of 1/10th of an inch ) Maby this is a " Sign " from " On High " !!! something, is, ( or must be ) going to happen !!!!! Hmmmmm ??? what could it be ???? :whistling: Added, comment: --- As a result of this situation, I have been forced to " go rideing " Every Day !!!!!!
13. OK, here's the scenario - My neighbor won 2 day rentals (that is qty 2 of a 1 day rental) from a local HD dealership. She doesn't ride nor does her husband, family, etc. She offered them to me. I have to use them this weekend or they expire. What to do? 1) As some of you know - I am a long distance rider. Should I go for BBQ? In Kansas City (1180 miles round trip). 2) Ask a friend to putt around the state for the day (paging Scooter Bob, Scooter Bob to the white courtesy phone)? 3) Should I just don some pirate wear, apply fake tattoos, put my wife in a tubetop, and go bar hopping? Decisions, decisions. RR
14. On CNN today.... cool ! Hopefully one day on bikes ! http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/09/self-inflating-tires/
15. 9/11/01 I was on my way to work when the news came over the radio. As I worked outside I remember the eerie quite of the day and it took me a while to realize no planes were flying. A day of remembrance for all our fallen heroes.
16. Just a few pictures of out visit to Dad's house. Its been a great day.
17. Today somehow while getting out of my SUV I got a shooting pain starting at my ankle and up my leg that almost put me on the ground. Just got back from Urgent care and I have a severely sprained ankle, I have never had so much pain, I thought I had broken something. So no work, no riding, no much of anything for a few days, it could be better by Monday or it may take a while have to use crutches, which I am not very good with........and to top it off, this was supposed to be a good day for me, but it was a rotten day, things didnt go well at work, my car didnt pass emissions test, had it tested to the tune of $94.00 to find out it was my gas cap, thats when I sprained my ankle, at the testing center. What a way to spend my birthday.

19. Was doing a carb sync last night getting ready for a day ride tomorrow and four day trip beginning next Thursday. Normally I can get the sync done quickly, but this time the motor ran a little bit longer than ususal and the "FAN" kicked on. I am sure it's been on before but never paid much attention. This time however there was a "Loud Rattleing' sound like something was loose or had fallen into the area of the FAN and was caught there. Is there an easy way to check this without tearing down the whole front, end. Lowers, Seat, Tank, etc. Of course I turned it off for about 5 minutes, Made sure oil and coolant were OK and started back up. Runs GREAT but of course this time the FAN did not cycle on? Thoughts Long Tall Lynchburg, VA

22. I'll be riding Western Colorado a bit over Labor Day Weekend! I'll leave Orem, Ut. Saturday morning, Provo Canyon to Heber, East through Wolfe Creek Pass and on to Vernal Utah where I'll meet up with a new friend & his wife, and we'll ride all the way around Flaming Gorge. I'll stay with them that night. Sunday morning I'll ride Dinosaur National Monument, Co., and then to Rangely, Co., where my uncle lives. I'll go to church with them, spend the rest of the day with them, and spend that night with them. Monday I'll ride South on 139 Lost Highway, Douglas Pass, & down to (through) Colorado National Monument (Past Fruita), through Grand Junction, SouthEast & then South on 65 through Mesa & to Cedaredge, U-turn back to I-70 East, North at Rifle up 13, & West on 64 near Meeker back to Rangely for the night. Tuesday I'll head back West through Vernal and go SouthWest at Duchesne through Indian Canyon to Helper, North West on Highway 6 through Soldiers Summit and on back home through Spanish Fork Canyon. I figure a little over 1100 ride miles. If anyone out there is interested in meeting up or riding part of the ride with me, email me at dougnrdn@gmail.com. Doug Nordin
23. I had a loaner bike this week a 2008 star raider and let me say this is a great looking bike but thats where the compliments from me end. My girl and i had it for a day and a half and only rode it for 2 hours cause that bike is torture on a old spoiled man like myself. If i was 20 yrs younger I would have been all over it but that day is gone, the forward controls are way too forward feels like i was hanging on a jungle jim and the feet were in a birthing stirrups..lol any way with the girl complaing of a sore butt and my shoulders screaming we parked it and waited for our beloved venture to be finished at the shop. I love that bike "venture".
24. It's a commin, Nascar on Da River, labor day weekend Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. We are about 1 hr south of Chicago very close to I57 and Rt17. This is a noisy weekend of Boat Races, bands and activities. We are on the river where a turn is , next to the start & pits. Room in the yard for campers . . . If you do come in, we are past the last Barricade, tell security you are coming to my house. . . Here is a link for the River Road side http://www.kankakeeregatta.com/
25. Finally gave up on idea of doing things myself. I think my 21st Birthday slipped by me someway. Hired a contractor to do block& footers and get ready for Garage. Had my digging tools out leaning against a tree. Noticed when he finished 1st day all my tools were in his pile. Didn't show up 2nd day didn't call or anything. This is after I forked over 1000 bucks to get him started. Got one good days work out of them. Starting to wonder. I have his name and address. Think a 20 x 40 Garage is big enough?? Not up to Skids standards but pretty good sized. Might even be room for car. New G 6 not liking to sit out in weather.
