1. Getting my PC upgraded so ill be off the grid for a few days. I know, I know. A day without me is like a day without eating ice cream.....play nice!!!
2. At the cottage, Grundy trading post (Ice Cream stop),French River Rest stop, French river Trading Post
3. If you like ice cream and we all know that we do you owe it to yourself if your ever down Florida way to seek this brand out and try it. I know we all love our DQ but this stuff beats DQ hands down....... http://www.workingcow.com/ Me and Jean have two shops we make a special ride to. One is in Fernandina Beach FL right in the middle of the downtown area. We get our Waffle cones and hang out on a park bench watching all the strange tourists. The other one is a roadside stand on the north end of Flagler Beach. Ocean view as well as bikini view. Just downright good stuff....
4. Looks like I beat you to it Jack, although I don't have pictures to prove it... Condor was nice enough to meet up with me as I passed through Sacramento, CA to where I stopped for the night [just north east of Sacramento]. He had ice cream while I had dinner.... then Ice Cream - which was very VERY good ice cream, by the way. I had a 'small dish'... Just wanted to say that it was a real treat meeting Jack in person and he seems like a great guy. Thanks again Jack. If you ever get through Lubbock, or nearby - let me know you are welcome anytime
5. Got a PM from Rick that he was passing though the area on Friday night. So what better place to take him for dinner... Leatherbee's Ice Cream....
6. Well, National Ice Cream day is here and almost gone...Now I have to wait another year to celebrate....:bawling:I HAD MY SHARE, DID YOU? :fnd_(16):
7. For anyone in/near New Hamburg, ONT. Just wanted to let y'all know that a new ice cream store has opened up. It's called Swirlz. Located at 385 Waterloo, New Hamburg, Ontario. Now for the sake of disclosure... the store is owned by my sister and brother-in-law. But don't let that stop you from swinging by. It's a new venture for them, and if it goes, I figure I will be able to sponge off them in my old age. If anyone stops in, tell them I said hi.
8. Its only now that I can tell of my heart break of you leaving. Dq hasnt been the same without you so I too am considering the warmer climates!! I hear Ice Cream tastes better when its hot and sweaty out! Can the Fish man come too???
9. Thanks to all the ny members who turned out for our ride today....what a great time..great to see the central ny guys have it together....it was a real shock to see little D from the valkrie riders riding so soon after the terrible accident she had out west....man , she is one tough cookie..today was her first ride and she borrowed big D's 1700 VTX to go riding with us....man she is tough...did about 275 miles round trip with breakbast and of course ice cream...man, I was getting nervous when we kept passing all those ice cream stands....but, ppand j came thru... thanks Phil ..I was going thru withdrawals at that point and was getting weak in the knees...but it all worked out...here are some pics....
10. Recently we took the best trip I have ever had. We road down to Tennessee and took two weeks to ride home. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=384695#post384695]http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=384695#post384695[/ame] We road through 10 States and 1 province and we stopped in each. In each location I had to order ice cream and test the consistency of the flavours. It was a three way tie for the best part of the trip: Breath taking scenery, 2. Unbelievable windy mountain roads 3. All the ice cream I ate. (My wife thought I lost it) BIG TOM we haven’t met but you’re a smart man and I like your style. Unfortunately I have to diet now that I am back to work, but man it was worth it.
11. Over the last few weeks I and roughly 15 riding friends have been doing night rides. We group up at 8PM,gas up,and head out. Needless to say the rides have been great. Very relaxing, little traffic, and much better temps to ride in. I have noticed that all of us tend to ride at lower speeds than we do during daylight hours as well. Granted the scenery is diminished but other than that it is still good riding! Most of our ice cream stops are open until 11PM so that's an added plus. Anybody else here doing the same thing? Comments welcomed. Boomer.........racking up the miles day and night here.
12. OK, some BSing, eating, riding, taking the ferry, more eating, hanging out, BBQ buffet and to top it off, the whipped cream pie in the face for St Jude's. Yes, it's in the VR photobucket. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/The%20hub%20tuesday%202009/
13. Here are pics I took on the ride bongobobny/Wizard765/Becky/Robin and I went on after getting Wizards bike back on the road. We took the New Yorkers to see Port Dover where Friday the 13th is held ,had some lunch and did some shopping then went along the lake to get some ice cream and then parted ways till next time. It turned out to be a very good day to ride and converse.
14. Any one up to a ride this afternoon to get Ice cream???? Thinking about a ride to FayetVille.... give me a call on my cell if you want to get together... 281-802-6772 Kreg
15. Well the first Pa meet n eat was a hit. I think we had 18 bikes total, got to meet alot of new folks and spend some time with old friends. It was perfect from start to finish lots of time to BS at the meeting place, the weather was amazing, nice ride to the diner, good food served up quick. Went for a nice 2 hr ride on some of the smoothest roads in Pa:rasberry: Stopped at a great little farm for homemade Ice cream, and witnesssed a beautiful outdoor wedding overlooking the Susq. river. Special thanks to Randy for all his work in putting this together, and thanks to all who came and supported this event. We will definetly do it again. Craig:clap2:
16. What a beautiful day! Riderduke, his wife, Kitesquid, his wife, KA Woodworth, Bugfish and I met and had lunch at Willey's BBQ in Westmoreland. Good stuff. Than we hooked up with Jrichard, stopped by a custom paint shop, did a little dreamin' and headed back to Fredericksburg for some Carl's Ice Cream. Old Rusty, his wife and Two Tone White joined us there. Mmmmm, the ice cream went down way to fast but oh so yummy! Bug and I had a little spit from good ol' Mother Nature on the way home. I hope everyone else stayed dry. Here's a few pics. My camera's batteries were dead so I settled for a couple shots with the cell. It was great to see everyone and also to meet more Venture riders. Lookin' forward to PA! Hope to see you all again soon. Wendy
17. Earlier in another post I said i was gonna make Dale some Banana desert today......well dont tell I snuck a corner out of it...just to make sure it was edible:whistling: Maybe I will tell him it didnt turn out good....... anyways i call it "Banana Lush"....... I used my chocolate Lush recipe and tranformed it into "banana" Graham Cracker Crust 1 1/2 c. crushed graham crackers 1/4 c. sugar 1/3 c. melted margarine press in 13 x 9 pan and cool in fridge Cream Cheese layer 2 pks softened cream cheese 2 c. powdered sugar 2 c. cool whip mix all together with mixer and spread over crust chill while mixing next layer Banana Layer I covered the cream cheese layer with a thick layer of sliced bananas - i used about 3 small bananas. 3 c. milk 2 pkg instant banana pudding mix well and pour over sliced bananas top the entire desert with cool whip ( better get a large container of cool whip to have enough) sprinkle a few graham cracker crumbs on top to dress it up ! I do believe he is gonna love it........
18. Table ! Well I finally got the table put together. Its made of concrete. It just doesn't get any better than to enjoy an ice cream along the river on your own DQ table.....
19. Just wondering if there is any plans for a ride this holiday weekend? How about it Al and Diane (I scream for ice cream)!! Joe
20. Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, 'God is good, God is great. Thank You for the food, and I would even thank You more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!' Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, 'That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!' Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, 'Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?' As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, 'I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.' 'Really?' my son asked. 'Cross my heart,' the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), 'Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.' Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, 'Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.' The End I love this story! Sometimes, we all need some ice cream. No wonder us Venture Riders love DQ! We know it is good for our soul! I hope God sends you some Ice Cream today!!! Ride Safe to the nearest DQ! Bobbie
21. Dave, Kit, Mechanic and I took a nice little 340 mile ride today. Weather started out in the mid 40s and ended up in the mid 60s. :rasberry: Since Kit picked the direction and once I saw where we were headed, I told them let's ride on to Hilton Head for BBQ at Jim & Nicks. great BBQ, coconut cream pie and chocolate cream pie. HMMMM good. :cool10: No SNOW or ICE, just nice sunny day :7_2_104[1]:
