1. Anyone have a set of original black bolt covers for the 2nd gen front fuel tank bolts? I'm looking for a set. Thanks in advance.
2. this is what they look like when you cut the center out with a haxsaw:farmer:
3. Well, here is a story, with a happy ending, that took 9 months to occur. Last July, Charlie (dragerman) and myself were talking about ordering some parts and accessories for our bikes. We talked about using South Seattle Sports, but we decided on Motor Sports Super Center http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/ from Alabama. Their prices were very similar to South Seattle. And they had good shipping rates too! So we put together an order for the 2 of us which consisted of Billet Brake Pedal Cover (Me) Billet Shift Peg Covers (Me) 2 Billet Oil filler caps (Both) Tri-bar headlight (Charlie) Billet Carb Covers (Charlie) Billet License frame (Charlie) Front Fender Trim rail (Charlie) 2 Chrome rear brake fluid res covers (Both) Billet Choke knob cover (Charlie) Well we also decided to ask Bongobob if he would take delivery of our parts, and we would go and visit him to collect them to save on international shippin and taxes and duty. (if any of our members work for Canada Customs or CRA please disregard this entire post ) So anyways, they charged my credit card immediately and shipped off the parts that they had in stock. We got everything except my shift peg covers & the carb covers. Which were back ordered. All the parts arrived in short order and Charlie went off to visit Bob, and brought back his and my parts. This was JULY of '08!!! Well, a month or so came and went, but no parts. So I called and spoke to Bill at Motor Sports Super Center (see website addy above) and he apologized for the delay and said he would try to find out what was going on. So a few weeks later I called Bill back, being a bit peeved this was taking so long. I was going to ask for my money back, and I would get my parts elsewhere. Talked to Bill again, and he apologized, and looked up the parts again. The back order date was going to be September. He offered me my money back, without me even asking. I guess we could wait a bit longer. That Bill guy sounded honest (I think it was his southern accent, reminded me of Enos from the Dukes of Hazzard) I called Charlie and told him what was going on. Charlie was ok with the wait, since nowhere else had the parts in stock either Well, September came and went, with no shift peg covers, or carb covers. I was getting a bit worried now, so I figured that I better call again, and get a refund for the parts. I talked to Bill again, and he took another look for the part. He told me that the new ship date was going to be October, but if I didn't want to wait, he would gladly refund my money. He just sounded so darn apologetic, I started to feel bad for buggin the poor guy. I told him I would hold off, and would get them in October. Jump ahead to October - No parts. This really was beginning to annoy me. I mean what kind of business takes 4 months to deliver parts? It was ridiculous, and totally unacceptable. I wanted my money back. So I called Bill at Motor Sports Super Center (website above) and demanded to know what the hell was going on with Charlie's carb covers and my shift peg covers! He apologized again and checked into the situation, Yamaha had again pushed back the delivery date to November! I was not going to stand for this. But something about the way that Bill wanted to refund my money made me pause..(insert pause here) and I thought of the best thing to do, and then it hit me! I knew exactly what to do! I ordered some more parts! Yeah! That will teach him to mess with me!! I put in an order for some brake pads for Charlie and I, and a set of chrome master cylinder covers for me! Bill offered to use the carb cover credit against the new order, but I figured just bill me the whole thing, and I will wait for the carb covers. I mean, it has been 4 months, what will another month be? So our brake pads arrived and my shift peg covers and master cylinder covers. But no carb covers. The winter came, and we put our bikes away for the winter. December, January, February & March all came and went, with no sign of Charlie's carb covers. I called Bill about once a month, just to check on the progress, (I think he started to recognize my voice on the phone) and it seemed that every month Yamaha kept pushing the date back. And everytime he freely offered his apologies, and my money back. It seems that the manufacturer would not make any more parts, without a huge minimum order, I guess Yamaha had to get enough orders to actually go ahead and make them. Yesterday, I thought I would give Bill a call, and find out when Yamaha had pushed the delivery date back to this time. I got Bill on the line, and he was such a happy guy! He had literally just gotten back to the store, from dropping off the carb covers with USPS. He gave me my tracking number!! I was a bit stunned at first, I don't know if I really believed that this day would come! And to make this even better, Bill shipped the parts directly to me, at no extra charge, just to try and make up for the delay, and inconvenience. That is how you can make a customer wait 9 months for a part, and still get him to reccommend your store. The delays were unavoidable, but it was the service from Motor Sports Super Center. I certainly would say, that I can recommend them. If you are in a rush for your parts, I would give Bill a call (1 (888) 880-2277 )though, rather than order though the website, just to be sure he has things in stock. Tell him Sonny from Canada sent you! I think I might have to start calling Bill just to see how he is doing now! LOL!
4. I bought some ebay diaphragms and have them on the bike. Seems like they went on fine but I'm havin a problem with about 2 carbs where I pop the covers and the diaphragms is no longer attached to the slider. Any ideas? Did I miss something?
5. I just added a Drivers backrest from Diamond R, and Headlight and driving light covers.
6. Looking for any links for LED brake lights and turn signals for a 2006 Royal Star Tour Deluxe. I am also looking for tail light covers besides the standard billett one that gets taped on.
7. I've decided to sell the chrome rotor covers I have and one set of caliper covers once I decide which set I want to keep. Rotor covers have had lights removed and are slightly scratched from someone trying to clean them up. Just never got around to installing them. Got to decide if I want to keep original Ventureline caliper covers or aftermarket ones I currently have on the bike. Will post pictures as soon as I can find my camera.
8. saw this on ebay and thought someone on here might be looking for that rare piece of chrome that comes along every once and again. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360137490337
9. I have a quick question. Are the black plastic covers over the valve covers neccessary? I don't see any reason for them being there. Has anyone left these off without any problems?
10. Friend of mine picked up some MC part while clearing a foreclosed property, then turned and gave them to me!! They're from a Mk1!! Entire rear subframe, w. fender, sadlebags and trunk, roll bars; stock exhausts; left side engine cover; left side inner/outer front fairing, the "knee fairings" and the radio/accesorry covers for both sides. Also fuel tank, carb set and valve covers plus some small schtuff I haven't quite gone through. From what's there and scuff marks on the right saddlebags, I'm thinking the bike may have been wrecked. Wouldn't have minded the rest:whistling:, but I'm not complaining. Now what am I going to do with all that stuff :scratchchin:and how am I going to open those bags:cool17:
11. Does anyone have one of the shouldered spacers that is required for the installation of the chrome rotor covers?
12. One of my riding buddies is in the process of changing the air filter on his Goldwing. What a mess. He's got parts all over his garage and still hasn't gotten down to the filter. Seems you have to pull all of the plastic off between the seat and the handlebars including the dash and side covers. He's not happy. It turns out the dealers get 2 to 2.5 hours of labor for changing a filter. He's so mad he went out looking at Harleys today. DT
13. Drove down to the St Louis area to pick this bike up. Packed the kids in the car, rented a U-Haul 6x9 trailer, and headed down Friday after work. Stayed in a cheap hotel, purchased the bike, then went to the St Louis zoo for a few hours to let the kids play. Exhausting trip, but I think it was the best Valentine's Day I've ever had. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0776.jpg I bought it from the second owner, who installed: Backrest Handlebar risers Trunk Rack Hopnel Tank Bib Headlight visors Lighted license plate frame Chrome engine mount covers Chrome master cylinder covers Chrome carb covers Chrome front fender rail Celestar Radiator Grille Saddlebag Trim rails Passing lights LED accent lights Kuryakyn ISO Pegs Star Trunk Rack Bag Samson Silver Bullet Fishtail Slip-ons 32,000 miles with brand new Dunlops. I picked it up for $7100. I took it for a ride around the block today. Aside from the 20 degree weather I really enjoyed it! Now all I have to do is wait for the warmer weather Al Gore promised me. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0772.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0775.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0776.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0777.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0778.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0780.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_1751.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_1750.jpg
14. It's kind of a pain to add oil by removing the 2 covers and then the oil cap to add oil. I'm thinking of eliminating the cap (or drilling a hole in it) and running a funneled hose outside the covers. But it has to look decent. Has anyone done something like this? Maybe I should change to nickname to Mr. Mod?
15. I looked all over the place but did not see this answer...so if it is a repeat...I appoligize. I have been torn over whether to install the chrome Air Filter covers on the RSV...I see on this site where some has had problems with chrome pealing off and the cost is a big issue. Yamaha says will warranty all accessory parts for 1 year, gee I figure something that small that cost close to $300 for the set just for looks ought to have more warranty than that. I really like the look...but so far I have not got up the courage to make that purchase. But they look so good... I know it is coming in the future and I found the K&N Air Filters at a steal of $74 for the pair so I jumped on them. Best I could find else where was around $101. I understand you need the K&N filtes for the new chrome covers. Not sure why at this point. Now I have a set of K&N Air filters and no chrome air filter covers. I was wondering...can you use the K&N filters with the stock air filter covers? I know I put a K&N stock replacement air filter in my VW Jetta TDI diesel and gained about 2 MPG, that pushed me up over 50 MPG mark, so it has gotta help if I can use the on the RSV. Thanks, Mike
16. does anyone know of a easy way to get that varnish/clearcoat off of these aluminum engine covers? Mine is half off and not consistant. I have tried mineral spirits to no avail . When i get them cleaned and polished is there some material that can go back on them to keep them sharp? Please advise. thanks! scott
17. Cleaning out the garage today, took off the YICS and the plastic covers that go over the valve covers last year, just sittin' on the shelf-GOTTA GO! If anybody wants them for postage, PM me. May throw some other stuff on here if I find any. First come, first served, I'll check messages later on. I believe the YICS is still sealed. Dan
18. Trying to brainstorm an idea. Is there anyone out there that has connections or resources to having ABS plastic chrome plated? I've serched on the web and there are several out there that do this and in several was. My idea was to "bling" up the air cleaner covers. Much like the way you can get the chrome Ignition cover for the RSV. I know there air the billet covers offered by Yamaha, but costly as well as having to get the K&N air filters. One quot I got was having both covers chrome plated very much the same way you would have metal chrome plated for $85 to $105 each. Have contacted several other companies out there but have not gotten any answers yet!! Just thinking there might be someone here that might know someone or a buisness locally that might be able to do it for a little less!!! Thanks, Dennis
19. Does anyone know where I can find a left and a right threaded #10 , 1.25 thread , about 3/4" long stainless allen cap screw? These go where the mirrors would fit on the flange of an 87' VR at each reservoir on the handle bars. They hold down covers and other controls on the handlebars. Mine are stripped out. Thanks for the help!!

TomTom Go 910 cradle free

I have sold my TomTom Go910 and have no further use for the Ram cradle I had for it. Free to anyone who needs it and covers whatever the shipping cost.
21. Anyone know a good source for the screws that hold the reservoir covers? I ordered two chrome covers and I assumed they would come with chrome screws (ass u me). Actually, they didn't come with screws at all and the dark grey screws that come on the bike don't look good with the chrome reservoir covers. I am also looking to replace the screws that hold that piece of chrome above the gas cap with chrome ones.
22. 2 questions (this pertains to my 83 Venture) - 1. I bought one of the fork braces that Condor was so kind to arrange a group buy for us this spring, and am just now getting around to installing it. It appears to be just a bit larger than my original, and I can't get it to slip into position. I loosened the pinch bolts as suggested in Condor's instructions, but no change. I am also working on installing a pair of chrome rotor covers (see below), so i went ahead and pulled the axle and allowed the wheel to drop down an inch or so (rotors are still just slightly in the calipers). None of this has made any difference in the clearance for the fork brace. When I set the original brace over the new brace, it does look a bit larger - about the size of the bevel that runs around the outer edge of the new brace - just eye-balling it, I would guess it is about a millimeter oversize on each end . Has anyone else who purchased these had a similar problem? 2. I bought a pair of chrome rotor covers last winter on eBay and after doing some searches on this site, found that originally they came with a replacement spacer that accounted for the extra width of the covers. When I pulled the axle, I expected a spacer/washer of some kind on the right side (since the speedometer assembly is on the left). The only kind of "spacer" on the entire assembly was a single collar-type piece that butts against the oil seal. This does not look at all like the diagram in the service manual (it shows 3 separate pieces). I have attached a picture. I was planning to turn down my spacer since I did not have a replacement. So the question now is whether I turn down the outer edge of this collar? (Don't see where i have much choice). Was just wondering if anyone had any insight into this. Windrider1983 (Mark Miller).
23. After much delibration I just couldn't see spending all that money for the yamaha air box covers, so I tried something else. Got $28 in it, what do you think?
24. I cannot remember where I saw a link or add for a guy who made leather bra covers for the hard boxs' on 2nd gens. They were a real nice fit and you could trim it out with a chrome strip as well. Could anyone direct me to the source?? Thanks in advance for the help. Ricardo.
25. Has anyone used the beaded seat covers from Cycle Crafts? ($17.50) Do you recommend beaded seats? It talks about comfort in warm weather for cooling, are they too cooling for cold weather riding? I'm looking forward to a long trip, and wanted something more between me and my seat. Thanks for any help? BigD
