  1. This is way cool .... click here
  2. Drill a small hole, grind off the point on the back, install a small split ring and......ta-dah, instant way cool zipper pull. Works with any extra pins you may have collected over the years. Thanks again Bob.
  3. I am a little late in posting this; I guess because I don't know how to handle not taking a lot of pictures at the Barber's Motorsports Park Meet and Eat. It was rainy while we were there, so I didn't take my camera. But we met Pick and Redbeard at Cracker Barrell Saturday morning. Then Blackjack and Randyr joined us there for breakfast. One of our stops, I found some Blackjack gum for Blackjack! I think he liked it!!!! Pick and Redeard were unable to come with us because of a prior commitment so off we went to Birmingham. The vintage show was great; there were a lot of vendors with a LOT of old parts and some really neat old bikes! We got to watch old vintage bike races and unfortunately while we were there, three bikes crashed, all in the same area. The slick track may have had something to do with it. The riders appeared to be alright, except one walked to the ambulance. We had the fun of watching stunts on the Wall of Death - I have attached a clip of one that I found, (its not the same group we saw), but it will give you an idea of what they do! They had go carts going around as well! Really cool! [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1425957770881170950]Wall of Death Motorcycle Stunt[/ame]# We rode around the park on the tram and then it was time to meet my daughter Jacque at the Bass Pro Shop right next door! Wow, that is a really cool store (I have never been in one!)!!!! We left there to eat at Jim N Nicks in Trussville and enjoyed some really great BBQ!!! Great company, great time by all!!!
  4. Need some help with the heater on my daughter 1996 Sebring. The car has about 160,000 mile on it and the heater is not working the way it should. This started last year. When it at idle it will not blow any heat, only cool air, but when you rev it or drive it the the cool air changes to hot and then back to cool when you stop. I changed the thermastate and the coolant level is good. I thought it may be the heater core so I flushed it with the garden hose, but still no heat. I know there has to be a few members good with a wrench that can suggest things to try.
  5. An Aunt of mine sent me these pics. I'm not sure where she got them, but the trike looks kinda cool. craigr
  6. Had an opportunity to deliver a Ford Ranger to my son in Las Vegas and decided that this would be a good excuse for a ride. The Venture fit in the short bed - well most of it - about 10 inches hung out on the tailgate. Anyway, got it there in one piece, except for a 3 corner crack in the left front lower fairing - had to get some plastic epoxy to fix that - not good as new but good from 6 feet. First time for cruising the desert and what an experience. Cool mornings, fierce hot days, and cool to cold nights. The colors in the Mojave as the sun sets are incredible. Had a talk with some rangers before heading out and they gave me a lot of valuable information. The suggested I have a NASA silver blanket for emergency cover from the sun, where long sleeves and pants to not get sunburn and loose too much body moisture, take 4 gallons of water for a 24 hour period, have someone expect a cell phone call at the end of the ride so they can notify authorities if you do not check in, take a tire repair kit and pump (had that covered), and a full tank of fuel of course. Folks don't realize that you could die in 5 hours without proper hydration and protection from the sun. The temp reached 118 F at about 2 in the afternoon. I travelled at about 70mph to not put the bike in too much of a strain because you tend to smell things getting hot, especially when the cooling fan comes on - which it does and then does not stop until you climb 3 or 4 thousand feet and drop 20 degrees. Met a few folks on Harleys but they did the too cool to talk bit..... so I just left them. You could smell those air cooled twins from 10 feet! It was a good day.
  7. I just got an e-mail from Motorcycle.com with this report... No mention of the Venture or RS line at all but the new Stratoliner Deluxe looks pretty cool... Looks like they ripped off the Corbin fairing but the bags don't look as good as Corbin's...
  8. Just wanted to add a few additional comments concerning the 2009 Pork in the Pines Pig Roast. First and foremost I want to thank everyone that was able to make it this year. Even though Freebird couldn't make it, the final headcount was 42 great people in attendance. Without you folks, this would be just another dead hog day. We couldn't have asked for a better week end. Warm, sunny days for riding and dry cool evenings for sleeping. At least for those of us that tried to get some sleep. For the rest, it was dry cool evenings for sitting around the fire, "talking" (read swapping lies) and enjoying the great company and a few adult beverages. Was great to see old friends, talk about old times, and make new friends who ran more than a few miles to make this year the best PIP to date. Hopfully, Freebird will be able to arrange his schedule to be able to make it next year. For those that may not have heard, Dan (stardborg) has a Venture. He also has a new girl friend. :rotfl: Apparently Dan made a great impression on her as she spend most of yeaterday just wandering around the pasture with her head hung down. Either that or see was grazing. Really want to thank Rick Stempel, from the law firm of Stempel & Doty and John Pagels with Pagels Engineering, for graciously sponsoring the breakfast Saturday and Sunday. If anyone would like to personally express their thanks, yoiu can do so at Rick@Stempellaw.com and jpagels@pagelsengineering.com as without their sponsorship the breakfasts would not have been possible. I would also be greatly remiss if I did not acknowledge the folks from the Backus Meat Locker. Not only did they once again make sure we had a great guest of honor, but they went out of their way to make sure we didn't have to make a return run to pick him up. I was a bit late (okay 4 hours) getting on the road Friday morning, and they stayed open 2.5 hours past normal closing time to allow me to pick up the hog. For folks like this a simple thank you just never seems to be sufficient. And even though it has been said before, thanks Gary and Annie for putting up with us and opening up your home and property to ensure that things come off without a hitch. And next year I promise to put up the tent To Kris for again foregoing the ride to do a another superb job cooking the guest of honor. To Wil and Lizbeth for their efforts on putting together the web site (www.porkinthepines.com) and getting up early to help prepare the breakfasts. Couldn't have done it without you guys. Steve (Eagleeye) for the best beans I have tasted in a long time and for the help in getting the chili ready. Even if we did have to cook up a second batch by the time everyone was finished having "just one more small sample taste". And to Mrs Bubber, even though she would not share the recipe for the Butterscoth bars. And once more to everyone that turned out. You guys/gals are the greatest. For those who are considering coming next year, the 2010 Pork in the Pines Pig Roast will be September 3 though 6, 2010. There is also a rumor that there may be a wedding at next years event. Now how cool could that be. Okay, I have rambled on long enough. So I will close by saying that next year the Viagra Viagro may even get off the trailer.... :bang head:

    MM part

Ok, I just saw my first close up of a 2000MM on Ebay and I gotta know if the (Instrument pod with tachometer and water temp guage) is available anywhere. This is located on the switch cover and looks really cool to me. Anyone know if this part is still in production or why its not on later versions?
  10. Well Muffinman is a happy guy now. His tools finally arrived. Now he can work with his own tools. The army gave him some to work with and were happy with how fast he got done what they asked. Now that he has his stuff he'll be working as much as possible and fixing anything that's sitting still long enough. His accommodations are a tent with 5 other guys. They have them partitioned somehow. I figured kinda like in an office for cubicles. They do have AC so it's pretty cool in there sleeping at night. He said the temps are down some now to only around 95. Which doesn't sound like much to us but it was 114 before. Of course that was cooler then Kuwait with 140. Just thought I'd keep you all updated on his fun in the dessert. Margaret
  11. and find it a very cool side car set up. http://www.odditycentral.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/motorcycle-car.jpg

Are the higher elevation temperatures cool at nights even in August? What about cell phone coverage along the Parkway?Mamamo is making a menu and packing the Coleman tent and stove. She might even take a dutch oven.:cool10:

    New Toy

Similar to here for my video passion, I have found a forum of some great folks and DIY enterpernuers. So when we get a new toy we like to show them off. One of the fellows on the video forum started building tripod dollies out of his woodworking business and we have beeen wanting one for some time but anything Pro Video is BIG bucks. So we bought one from this gentlemen and were emailing him to tell him how happy we were with it, he ask us to put together a video of some of our favorite shots using it for him. He also has a cool video on his site www.eazydolly.com So while not motorycycle related I threw this together last night and thought I would share it here as there are some pretty smooth cool shots in it. This things works smmoth as butter and is about a 1/3 the cost of pro models. I see some cool shots of the bikes all cleaned up and shining with this thing this summer! Like the jack adpaters and other widgets builders here you gotta love the skill kindess and sharing of those that can for us others here on these forums. So here goes us having fun with the new toys. PS: And again these are HD videos so once it starts if you click on the four arrows in the lower right corner you can watch them full screen at full 720P HD resolution. If you have a slow connection once it starts click the HD ON to trun off HD and it should stream a little better. [ame=http://www.vimeo.com/3218683]Eazy Dolly Test Shots Reel on Vimeo[/ame]
