  1. Why do I have that feeling we will be using the generator alot this winter? We currently have 16,000 with no electric and I'm on generator. The winds should die down later tonight so maybe power company can get the tree's off the lines and line fuses reset.
  2. I was just over on the Steve Saunders Goldwing forums and found a thread about the end of the Venture! It was just posted today so there has been no commits as of yet. This is what it said: (Stopped by the local Yamaha dealer yesterday. The sales manager said the company may cease production of the RSV, due to low sales. Apparently the company doesn't want to reduce the price or upgrade the RSV. (engine size, carb-to-F.I., etc) He continued to say that Yamaha plans to concentrate more on their 1900cc models. I might to lurk over to Venture.org, to get the skinny. Anybody heard anything similar or different? ) Anyone here hear anything like this. I would not be surprised if it were true. Yamaha sure isn't going out of thier way to keep up with what buyer want.
  3. As I have posted before I purchased Ed-sets and Mic-mutes for the Quike. I then found no CB on my bike:doh: After emailing Bill Morphy at Ed-sets, he suggested a company where I could purchase CB PTT buttons and still be able to use his Mic-mutes. A member on here, Steve Neal contacted AirRider.com and gave me direct email contact with a Mr Tracy Rogers. I was unable to buy online as their system would not allow me to fill in shipping for Australia. Well, he spoke to their administrator -- and they changed the whole system to allow me to order on line So just wanted to let you know about a good U.S. company :clap2:
  4. I just opened my invoice for my motorcycle insurance which I received in Fri mail:mad: My insurance has just increased by just over 40% to $962.00 for the year:mad: and I don't even carry collision coverage, this is strictly liability At a time when few people are lucky to even get a 2% wage increase, assuming they still have a job, how do they even justify it:mad: The Company I am currantly with is KINGSWAY GENERAL INSURANCE and you can bet I will be switching.:mad: ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM CANADIAN RIDERS WHO TO CHECK OUT.
  5. Well I got the word, and Im laid off. Company says their gonna try again in the spring but then they never asked the supervisors for our phones and credit cards before. Rumers are that there closing the doors for good and lots of things are looking like that could be true. So wife and I are putting up the HOUSE For SALE sign and were looking south for work. Looking around Tenn, N or S carolina and W.V. I am a excavating supervisor and also have a Michigan builder's liacense that I plan to switch over to which ever state we move too. Wife still working at a local t.v. station and thank goodness we still have insurance but things look rough there too. I dont expect to start with a new company as a super or even close and willing to take anything decent. Anyone have any leads that may help , they sure would be appreciated. Asking for prayers too, to be honest im scared silly, been in this house for 22 years and raised our family here. I just cant imagine leaving it and moving away but ive been trying to get myself comfortable with the idea for the past few months. Thank you in advance
  6. Got a question. The company I work for has a hydraulic lift on our dock. The tank and pump for it is inside in a cabinet next to my work area. The other day smoke came rolling out of the cabinet so I killed the power and opened it up. On the pump assembly there is a shaft that sticks out and there is a coil on it. That was fried and the cause of the smoke. The lift will still work but it will drop back down to ground level when you release the button on the control. They had a company repair guy (shade tree) come in and he spent three days working on it. This morning the lift was working but when I inspected the pump I saw he had removed the coil and not replaced it. He did some rewiring (hack job) and left it at that. The "repair" work he did it sloppy and left bare wires. So with that info can anybody tell me what this coil does? It's a Delta Power Company DOL25 24 VAC. Fits a 1/2 shaft. I have some safety concerns about this repair and want to know how this works and what it does.
  7. I will research this when I have more time but have any of you system admins seen this before? I feel that they are probably going to try and soak me for money but this one is new to me. Here is what I received. Dear Manager: We are a Domain Name registration service company, which is a professional Internet Domain Name Registration and dispute resolution organization in China. On August.10th,2009, We received HAITONG Investment company's application that they are registering the name "venturerider" as their Internet Keyword and "venturerider.cn"、"venturerider.com.cn" 、"venturerider.asia"domain names etc..,It is China and ASIA domain names. But after auditing we found the brand name been used by your company. As the domain name registrar in China, it is our duty to notice you, so I am sending you this Email to check.According to the principle in China, your company is the owner of the trademark,In our auditing time we can keep the domain names safe for you firstly, but our audit period is limited, if you object the third party application these domain names and need to protect the brand in china and Asia by yourself, please let the responsible officer contact us as soon as possible. Thank you! Best regards, John Oversea marketing manager Tel:+86(0)21 6296 2950 Fax:+86(0)21 6296 1557 web:http://www.ygregistry.cn

  11. came up with this? Motors Liquidation Company General Motors has a new name. Motors Liquidation Company, formerly General Motors Corporation, is engaged primarily in the development, production and marketing of cars, trucks and parts. It develops, manufactures and markets vehicles worldwide through its four automotive segments: GM North America (GMNA), GM Europe (GME), GM Latin America/Africa/Mid-East (GMLAAM) and GM Asia Pacific (GMAP). In addition to its automotive operations, the Company's finance and insurance operations are primarily conducted through GMAC LLC, which provides a range of financial services, including consumer vehicle financing, automotive dealership and other commercial financing, residential mortgage services, automobile service contracts, personal automobile insurance coverage and selected commercial insurance coverage. In July 2009, the Company announced that the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York approved the sale of substantially all of General Motors Corporation's assets to NGMCO, Inc. In July 2009, And at the same time, I get notification from the US Bancrupcy court that I am not allowed to either buy more or sell any of my GM Stock.... Thank gawd Big Brother is looking out for me...
  12. Having seen McDonalds new ad with the minivan and the biker, I sent them an e-mail reminding them how bikers are very CHARITABLE when it comes to the "RONALD McDONALD HOUSE". They're reply was that they would check with the ad company. Has anyone else viewed this and what are your thoughts??
  13. Can anyone tell me if they have ever installed a set of mirrors with the turn signals in them. I've seen a set you wire as running lights and turn signals. Are they worth the $$ or just stick with the stock. I have looked over the reviews and seem to think they might be easy to install, if they work as the company says. I'm still torn over spending the money. I need some help/input as I'm sure some one has done it. Putting them on my 08 Venture..... Thanks! Ride safe!
  14. http://www.nortonmortorcycles.com/bike/bike_961specs.asp Got 20K to drop, feast your eyes on this baby !!! What Brittish bikes should have been, but never were.
  15. 33 Bikes 48 people and............$350 dollars raised for the Freebird Fund!!!!! What a great day. Couldn't ask for better weather or better company. It was so good to meet so many people. Pics coming soon. We'll do it again next year!!!
  16. Ok, I think I might need a little help here, with the economy the way it is, I think attendance will be down from previous years, which wont surprise me. But also I think auction items and door prizes will not be as plentiful as they were at previous Vogel's. I am hoping some of our members might be able to help me out in this departmemt, if you know a local vendor that might be willing to donate something for the raffles or the door prizes, or maybe your company could donate something, it doesnt have to be motorcycle related, any small item will do, everyone loves to go away with something regardless of value or size. Many members here have been very helpful in this department for past Vogels and it is much appreciated. If you dont want to approach them, just send me a pm with the name of the company and email address, I will be glad to email them and make the request. Thanks in advance, this group is the greatest group of family on the web.
  17. I placed an order with http://www.milwaukeeleatheroutlet.com for a Kuryakyn touring bag on March 27. I received an automated email on April 1 from shane@californialeatherwear.com saying that my order had shipped, but it did not give a shipping date or a tracking #. After four email request for a shipping date and a tracking #, I have heard zero, nada, zilch and I am beginning to wonder if I have been taken. Maybe the reason they sold this item at such a good price with free shipping is that they don't actually ship. Let's see....... yep, that's 100% profit. Anyone had any experience with this company? Jeff
  18. Hey guys I'm wondering if any of you work in the constuction field. Particularly Boilermakers, Ironworkers, Industrial Safety and such. I was employed as a Safety Rep using my Paramedic/people skills to keep workers safe when I was was lucky (or not) enough to be hired as a Directional Driller. Then after a few months the company decided to lay of 650 at one time. I am also a Boilermaker and have my book. So, if anyone knows of anything going on let me know. Thanks
  19. Well, after months of healing, (crashed Sept. 22, deer came out bout 11PM, missed deer, back brake locked, got sideways, and down we go. Seven ribs, collar bone, and sore shoulder). The insurance company wanted to total, but I thought I could fix her back up. (04 midnight, 23,000 miles). Just plastic, and front and rear guards right side. Had most of parts off once already, soooo. Well a letter from insurance company they will only put libility, sooo, damm it come get it!!!!!!! Fever hit once it left the driveway. Lots of looking, even on our classified ads, but none were real close, and there is still ice and snow in northern minnesota!!!! Any way buddy told me to call a dealer 150 miles away. Had a new 08, silver and charcoal. $13,000 plus tax and license. No miles 5 year warranty. And the chance to accessorise again!!! Used to drive fast and take chances!!!!!!!! Now I guess it's time to grow up and almost act my age, don't heal like I used too!!!!!!!!! Take care and happy motoring!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I was looking at a RSTD that has a pair of adjustable wind deflectors that bolt to the upper horizontal portion of the front crash bars. They blend nice with the cowl that covers the air filters. Might anyone know what company makes these? Hard to describe these, they are about the same height as the cowl and are vertical. The adjustment allows air towards or away from the drivers legs. Ron:325:
  21. A locale MN used bike dealer/salvage company has a 99 RSV for sale. http://www.sportwheel.com/Used%20Bike%20Images/92611999YamVenture$6999.JPG http://www.sportwheel.com/usedcycle.html
  22. How can any company, even a Hong Kong company advertise, make and sell a full size vinyle motorcycle cover for $1.66, Buy it now price. I don't know either but I got mine in the mail today. I really didn't expect much when I saw it on e-bay but I figured what the heck for $1.66 I'd take a chance. When it came today just seven days since I pushed the buy it now button I was even impressed with the prompt delivery all the way from Hong Kong, China. When I got it out of the package and put it on the bike I was even impressed with the fit, fabric and workmanship. Gee this time I guess it wasn't too good to be true.
  23. I dropped my 2007 Venture last summer - all the way on the side with both wheels off the ground. It cost the insurance company 4500 dollars! I just got the bike back today and she looks wonderful again. I was amazed that the insurance company replaced all scratched parts - fixed nothing. It seems that Yamaha wouldn't release it's paint codes. So now I have an extra fairing front, Left cowl & Saddle bag & trunk. I even got a new set of highway pegs because you can't buy just the left one. Though the parts are scratched some. I'm sure glad for insurance! craigr
