  1. Just wondering about a BBQ place in Johnson City Tn. It's called Firehouse Restaurant. Anyone have any input about this place, thinking about Riding over some weekend to check it out. We live about 3 Hours away.
  2. Today was the first day I ride my RS97 after winter, only for 2 or 3 miles. Oil change completed, but even when I check the coolant, I saw the red light dimming (Just started to get on) on temperature, as well as I was able to hear a little wistle. Next step will be to take off the whole coolant, and after clean the whole circuit then replace it. Also, a check on the fan circuit to be sure is working. Any other suggestion on this cases? (Purchase another bike is not admited!!!)
  3. arkansas got clobbered by tornados last night. since i have so many friends down there and not sure where they hit. how is everyone doing down there. check in here and let us know. bill
  4. Will be heading out for a 6K+ mile cross country trip at the end of may on the 2005 RSTD (10K miles on her now). I will have new tires on her and an oil change, coolant check before we go. Any thing else I should make sure gets done? Final drive oil? Anything special I need to make room for on the trip? Thanks,

  7. This has probably been done before but since I haven't yet seen it mentioned, I thought I'd pass it on. I wanted to do a quick speedo check on my Triumph using my Garmin 255. While looking for a way to do a "quick and dirty" temporary attachment, it occurred to me to use the included suction cup bracket and attach it to the face of the tach. Worked like a charm and puts the GPS unit in a great line of sight position! Unless I'm racing (Wife says I'm too old for that anyway!) or looking for a problem at a specific RPM, I don't use the tach much since by now I can shift by ear (As can any of us who've been riding for a while). I tried it on the Venture and the only other thing it hides is the volt meter and that can be seen by rotating the unit on it's bracket. It's also a good idea to attach some type of line just in case it somehow vibrates loose, but for a short hop such as a speedo check, it works quite nicely. It might even work for a longer haul, although the lack of waterproofing could be a problem. Oh, I couldn't test the Venture as it's jacked up awaiting a fork seal change...boy that oil does come up nicely in an air fork doesn't it? As for the Triumph, it was about 5.5% optimistic - 85 KPH on the GPS at an indicated 90 KPH. Not too bad since I've heard that many bikes are as much as 10% optimistic.
  8. I checked and Lowell hasn't been on the site since January 16th. Need someone to update us on how he is. Maybe somebody near by can ride over to check on him. I don't think he's normally off the site this long. Margaret

  12. Not only is it time to change the clocks. But use the time change as a reminder. TWICE a year we change times. Make it a habit to change those batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Also check all fire extinguishers, even disposables generally have a small test button.

  22. This may be old news to some here but it's pretty exciting to me. I had been searching for a trailer hitch for my 2007 Venture and found more than I could digest. Then I looked at this site http://www.venturedad.com/RSV%20hitch.htm and was surprised at the price. I wanted the hitch so that I could fly a couple flags on PGR missions and this one looked to fit the job. I called the number listed and talked to Roy, the owner/mfg'er and he put one in the mail that day. I got it today and had it installed in just a few minutes. When I ordered the hitch on Monday I asked Roy if he wanted me to pay with PayPal or how would he prefer ? He said that he preferred I just mail him a check and that was the end of that. Pretty hard to believe but the hitch came today via USPS Priority Mail - order on Monday, install on Wednesday and it came from Washington state. I guess I had better get a check in the mail
  23. It didn't work. Sorry. I'll try again.
  24. I'm making plans for some mods and/or upgrades this winter....auxiliary power, rear lights and etc.... I have read many valuable posts, made notes, saved pictures and etc. I extremely value and analyze the opinions of those that have "been there and done that"....this site has some very intelligent and sharing members....Thanks. Having and maintaining the proper air pressure in the front shocks is paramount for the RSV to handle consistently... in my opinion. The air volume in the front shocks, being so small, I drop the compressor tank pressure to 6psi, check and recheck, then air my front shocks.....very time consuming, but the most accurate way that I know. I did many searches, but have not found the answer to my "BRAINSTORM" sooo "HELP". I plan to use a quality 1/8 or 3/16 air line and fittings to tee and join the front shocks together, run the air line back to a saddlebag, where I will have the Progressive Pump and Pressure Gauge.......Will I need to use check valves to avoid issues in a curve...with the shocks teed together ??? I'm sitting...sooo.. YOUR OPINION ?? Thanks in advance:thumbsup2: Freddie
  25. I just had to start a new check register. Its funny thats its still called a check register because between Nov 2009 and Dec 2010 I wrote 12 checks in 13 months. So, thats less than 1 a month. Most of the checks were for taxes of one form or another. But the local tax office now takes debit cards, so I suppose most of the checks I did write were really unnecessary. I fact, it appears that a check I wrote to The Ponderosa in Cody WY, which doesn't take cards and the 2 checks to buy my 2000MM RSV in April were the only checks I wrote that couldn't have been done electronically. The number of check registers I get when buying a box of checks doesn't last and I go to the bank once a year or so to get a new register, and cant remember the last time I actually bought my checks. Maybe 5 years ago when the bank changed ownership and its name and account numbers?
