1. Do any of you over here in the UK have any idea how to change the radio so I can pick up Uk channels? My '08 Venture was imported from the US new. So far I can only recieve the odd channel very badly. I know that Dobels Honda change the US import Goldwings, but they won't spill the beans! Thanks if you can advise what to do.
2. For some idiotic reason I thought I had fouled a plug in my 2007 Venture. As everybody knows, I'm not a mechanic but thanks to the tech section I was able to convince myself that I could change them myself. The reason for the change was the "miss" that I heard in the motor and miss-diagnosed as a fouled plug. So, in less than an hour I had them changed and the bike back together. No special tools, just a Craftsman 18 mm deep socket, a 3/8" swivel, extension, ratchet and a couple allen wrenches. Each plug I pulled I was disappointed that it looked like a new plug - crappola All 4 plugs were in excellent shape, nice light brown, gapped to (I think) 34 thousanths. I didn't have a 34 but I did have a 32 and a 35. Loose 33 and the 35 wouldn't go. Close enough for the girls I date. Got it back together, startedit up - still had a miss. 15 minutes later, some seafoam and fresh gas - I'm just about ready to blame everything on gas that was 2 years old - now, anybody that wants to come down and wake me come on down - bring you're own 2x4 or ball bat, I refuse to take a beating with my own tools
3. I just tried my CB for the first time, and it doesn't work. CB comes on in "TX" and Channel 01, but that's it. Cannot even change channels. Everything else works great.
4. $17 and change at Tractor Supply. Went to Wally World and as usual they were out but had it in qt containers so I bought 4 qts at 6 and change and two days later was in Tractor Supply and saw the sale.
5. Isn't it funny how a slight change in altitude can change your perception of reality. What I saw What it really said
6. Greetings, Previously I had posted some problems I was having with battery on a trip I had just went on.Tracked problem to r/r. I have searched but have not found any articles how to replace this unit. What I have read I believe it is fairly simple to change and it is on the left side of engine. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to do this. By the way the bike is a 2000 RSV. Thanks.
7. im changing the original rear leaf springs in my Ranger. the stock spring is rated at 1050 lbs. the new one are 1750 lbs. 2 questions...1. will it change the GVWR? and 2. will it change the tongue load on the trailer? im trying to give it a little more towing capacity over stock. i know the leafs are for cargo capacity, but will it change towing?
8. My radio is giving me trouble and it is not always the same symptoms. Often is locks up completely or locks up partially. At times I will not be able to change channels or change settings. It does not seem to follow any pattern although I think it is better when you shut the key off and back on. Sometimes it will not play at all. Often times FM or AM stations will cut out when I open the throttle and immediately come back on when I let off (kinda sounds like a loose connection on this symptom). Any thoughts? Ryan
9. want to change fluid in clutch res: can't find the bleeder where did they hide that little sucker? help please. got front brakes and rear brakes done. 2006 venture. going on my first 5 day ride to mount rushmore , bad lands and other sights to see, try'n to get reddy to go. clutch fluid looks dirty, wanna change it!:confused24:
10. I started up the bike and started pulling off the spark plug wires one at a time. The ideal change on all them but right rear. I pull the plug and put a new one in and put the plug wire back on and pulled back of the ideal didnt change like the others. i pulled the wire back off and i could hear it fireing and as i was pulling the wire out I could see the arc and it shock me. any ideas. my #843-452-8615 my name is Brantley
11. Well... No matter what, it never ends! I just finished getting a pair of Like New OEM mufflers from Hulk They are just like new & I had them installed in less than 30 minutes. My bike is sooooo quiet now. While I was laying on my back tightening the bolts I saw my Avon Venom rear tire. Not only was it terribly cracking on the side walls... it had a bald spot down to the belts with just 11,000 miles. Argh! So now I have to: change rear tire - going back to the Darkside with a Nanking change the rear drive oil change the motor oil clean up everything on the bike ...just so I can go on a short 1500 mile ride in 2 weeks. ...and of course, I'll enjoy every minute of the work - JUST LIKE ALL OF US DO
12. Well it looks like I am going to be sidelined at least 3 months or more so I am thinking I should do some serious maintenance on the bikes. So here is what I am thinking: Do the valve check, both bikes are way over due Check the clutches in both bikes maybe go ahead and upgrade the springs Check and adjust steering head bearings Change and Bleed Clutch and Brakes Flush cooling systems Check all the hoses and rubber Change oil in one just did the other Set the other one up to tow a trailer also Finish the solo mod on the one and paint it Lube everything that should be lubed. Any other ideas?
13. I have recently purchased a 1999 rsv. I previously rode a goldwing. I am enjoying the different ride provided by the venture. But now I am experiencing a clutch slip at the higher rep range. When applying throttle it is like the clutch lever was engaged and the bike revs up. I will change out the clutch fluid and check the clutch spring and I am hoping this will fix the problem. My question is how long should a clutch replacement take and how much will this set me back?
14. went to NAPA this morning to get a spark plug socket to change my plugs(none of mine fit the NGK). Was advised by buddy up there that it is 18mm and they don't carry a spark plug socket to fit it....OK here comes stupid question,WHAT DO YOU GUYS USE TO CHANGE YOUR PLUGS WITH? Just a regular 18mm deep socket? or do I have to get one from the Yamaha dealer.OR??????????
15. the problem I'm having is sometimes i can change it from say radio to Aux and sometimes I can't... or if I'm on radio sometimes it will change stations and sometimes it wont... I've took it apart and used electronics cleaner but that hasn't helped. Any suggestions?
16. Have dry sounding clicking/clunking sound in rear end of my new 2012 Venture. Can hear it when slowing down at stop signs etc. and also when pushing around in lane-way . Took to dealer today to get opinion and he says it is the needle bearing in rear-end so have appointment for next Mon. to get fixed. Also passing lights blew fuse(have them on all the time ) and couldn't find fuse until dealer remembered it was behind fairing so it has to be torn apart to change. Will get them to move to outside so I can change it later. Rear-end will be covered under warranty but not sure about fuse. Asked about it from sales man and heard mechanic say it was just a fuse BUT it was him who wired fuse behind fairing instead of outside where it is assessable--so I think it should be covered but will see on Mon.(if not covered it is about a 2hr job)
17. I remember reading a long time ago on a forum that a good way to keep the brake and clutch fluid fresh is to use a turkey baster and suck out the fluid in the reservoirs every time you change oil. Just be certain you don't pull on the levers. Did I dream that or would that work on our Royal Stars? Just wondering......
18. I've been working on the carbs and they seem to be coming to life. I was going to see if anyone local had a carb tune or similar synching tool, but figure I will need it again after I change my diaphragms later on down the road. The diaphragms are good but original so they will do for now. Thanks, Ray.
19. I'm going to ask what i hope to be a dumb queston. The CB on my bike seems to be stuck on channel 9. I have pushed every button on the thing but it won't change. I see there is a preset button for that channel, could it be stuck???
20. I have a friend that has an 1100 V Star Classic that wants to change his exhaust to get a little better sound. What will he have to do with his fuel system to make this change? I do not know anything about this bike but would like to provide him with some suggestions...
21. I did a 750 mile ride this weekend to see what issues might come up in preparation for my 2300 trip to Baton Rouge. Once again, i am reminded how comfortable these bikes are. The ride was Flawless although my mileage isnt where i expect it to be. With 1 remaining bar on the fuel gauge i have only gone about 110 miles. But other than everything is great with the bike. After an oil change and air filter change i will be ready for my 2300 trip to Baton Rouge. I havnt finalized my route but on my return ride, i am considering riding up to Memphis before coming home. One of my stops is going to be Arches monument in Utah. Any ideas on must see sights along that route (Memphis to Utah)?
22. Does anyone know a good shop that can work on my bike. I need a tire changed and an oil change before returning to California. I have an 83 Venture. thanks Al
23. I read.through a good bit, let me tell you what is going on. 84 VR Brake pedal bottoms out no pressure, had it earlier on first ride. Fronts, po had not tightened the caliper hoses completely and I know I'm going to have to change contaminated pads and bleed. All this in the first 40 miles....... Any tips ect on the bleeding and the rear and front left are what I am most concerned about. Thanks, first post Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
24. Well, I got the carb rack off the 83 tonight. Those linkages are something else! I have no idea how I'm gonna get them back together!!! Just taking them off was a real test of my "christian vocabulary"!!!!!!!:bang head: Any way....now all I need is the parts So...for a proper job, could someone tell me what parts I need to order? I have new diaphrams already Also....the fuel line looks like a red colour braded hose. is that the original one? Thinking I might just as well change while I'm at it if it is. Also going to do the head cover gaskets. Although it looks like it has been leaking from the bolts more so than the covers themselves. Lots of other jobs...not likely going to see the road this summer.
