Hey Don ....I'm just wondering how your change out did ??
-
This week I replaced the original Dunlop D404's that came on the 06 RSV. I got 10,500 miles from the originals with no problems...and they still had some useful tread at both ends. The front tire had worn as evenly as any front tire I've ever had on a bike. The rear was mostly worn in the center, but that reflects the unfortunate manner of most of my rides; much more straight up than heeled over. Having read all the tire posts I could find on this great site, I was really leaning toward some of the Avons or Michelins that many here have raved about, but the 404's have performed well for me and the difference in price was enough to send me back to them. This morning I took the bike out for a ride to scuff in the new rubber and was just amazed at how well the bike was handling and how light the low speed steering was. I thought to myself, "This is exactly what the guys have been saying about their new (insert brand) tires when they make the change." Had I made the change to one of the other brands, and they felt just like these new 404's, I would have been thrilled with how good they felt. Since I didn't make a change, I'm merely comparing a new set of tires to a set nearing the end of their road. New tires feel great and I will not spend much time in the future wondering how many more miles I might squeeze out of an existing set.

I received this coupon via e-mail. Not a bad price for the basic tire changer. You still need the motorcycle adaptor to change your bike tires. Good until 8-15-07. I found this link on how to use the tire changer with motorcycle adapter.

I'm not finding anything putting "oil" in the search box, so here goes. What do you guys recommend? The owners manual says 20W40 and I can't find it anywhere. the closest I can find is 20W50 and I'm not sure if there is a significant difference or not. I really don't want to spend the money on the dealer brand.

The wife and I went out on a ride last week. I hit a pothole which made the forks bottom out soooooo I said enuff with this. So in the last few days i have replaced the fork seals because they were starting to weep, new brake pads on the front, AND put in a set of progressives. What a change!!! Now the forks are sturdy and the ride is much better. Might do a superbrace next year but for now I'm RIDING:322: Thanks to this site i have probably saved 500 bucks just by reading on how to fix it myself.

Hey Guys, I have a 2007 RSV.....would like to change up the antennea as I find them too tall and i bang them in enclosed trailer when i pull it in. Questions are...what is the black round thing mid way down on one of the antennea? and can i just go to Canadian Tire and replace them with shorter car antennae? Will i loose reception when I change them for smaller ones? Is there any disadvantages by changing them out. And does anyone now where to buy shorter ones? Thanks again for all your great responses over the years. This website is so powerful.

Has anyone tried to change the filter in between oil changes on and RSV? I keep looking at where the filter is mounted and can't decide if it looks above or below the oil level.

I just got home from picking up my new rstd, and it seems to indicate more miles than I know it is to my house. CAN THE ODOMETER possibly be indicating kilometers rather than miles, and if so how do I change it? I cannot find any info on this either in the owners, or service manual. I know I can switch it on my FZ1, but can the odometer be switched on the Rstd?

I stoped at a local yamaha dealer to see what the cost of a oil change was he said $80. Is that the going rate? I did change it my self for about $15.

OK all of you AMSOIL Distributors, Tell us all that you know about the differences between the new EA oil filters compared to the previous SMF filters. And does this change justify the change in price IYHO? And don't give us the AMSOIL literature sound bites, but what you have learned and feel is important. And while you are at it, what drain and filter change intervals are each of you using on your Ventures? Curious minds need to know, Rick

My 89 started smoking real bad about 2 weeks ago.It only has about 6,000 miles on it.When I did my last oil change I might have put to much oil in it,would that cause it to smoke ??.
