1. Hello. I still am trying to get a loan on a RSV so yes...I still dont have one. I need to know what the distance is between the idiot light panels next to the cassette door. I am thinking of modifying the cassette hole and need a measurement from the right edge of the left window to the left edge of the right window. i am thinking of installing a FUSION MS-RA200 marine radio in the cassette hole and eliminating all the Clarion electronics. Please let me know if you can. Thank you.
2. Anyone have a black face cassette player laying around? I want to do the "storage" mod. My face is broken and won't stay closed. Thanks!
3. I just bought a 1999 Venture this week, there's a problem with the cassette deck. The PO got a cassette stuck in the thing and couldn't get it out. As a result, it won't turn off, and the battery will drain in 3 days. His solution was to wire a switch into the fairing that turned power off to the radio/cassette. The problem with this is I loose the FM channel presets when I turn the switch off. I'd like to remove the cassette and create a space for my MP3 player. If I unplug the cassette, will the radio still function? or do I need to jumper some pins on the plug? Thanks, D.W.
4. I tried to install the Ipod adapter that I got from Pioneer yesterday and could not get it to work. I foolowed the instructions to the "T" but no luck. I reset everything according to the instructions and it still did not recognize it. One thing that also surprised me was when I reinstalled the cd player, that too was not recognized. I did run another cable last winter to move my cd player from the saddlebag to the trunk, and it worked fine all summer. The next thing I did was to split the fairing and hook up the original cable to the saddlebag and, you guessed it....nothing. The audio control works for all the FM and AM, the CB works, the cassette works and the aux plays my Ipod through the connection next to the cassette. I did call Chad about returning it for another adapter and I am still waiting on his response.
5. Will a left side electronics enclosure (cassette, intercom, etc.) from an '84 fit a '91? TIA...
6. Does anyone who is comming to MD have a working cassette recorder that still works....I would really appreciate it if you could bring it to MD and let me use for a couple of hours..Not a prank or gag I just can't say why on the forum...If you have one and can bring it ,give me a call and I let you know why I need it....(716) 937 4653...
7. There's good news for those of us who need an mp3 player for our Venture cassette deck. The company has updated the old player to now accept SCHC cards, and it is available for $24.00 now. The web site to order this player is: http://usb.brando.com/usb-cassette-mp3-player-ii_p01481c035d15.html
8. 09 venture. I need a non working or just cheap un used cassette. I want to take my time and study it. I have a idea to do something but do not want my cassette spot open untill I get it finished.
9. Yea but will it 'fast forward' my cassette??? ECU to iPhone interface
10. What is the best gauge set to use for the 2nd Gen. the sunpro 2 inch or 11/2 inch to put into the cassette area. Who had the mod kid for doing the install? Thanks
11. I guess there is quite a few cassette players on the shelf now. I always thought that logo on the cassette player was kind of cool, After removing it and adding gauges I took the logo off and put it here. My new star license plate holder add 3M backing tape and your good to go! Now to put the cassette player in the tackle box for a line weight for the fishing poll.
12. My bike doesn't have the emblem on the cassette door and I want to use one for other things. I can't find them on ebay, does anybody have one they want to part with. I'll be happy to pay for them, I think I want to get two of them.
13. Alright folks, I have a question for you. I don't understand what the big deal is with Yamaha offering us MORE options for fulfilling our audio desires. So many of you pee and moan about the bike being so 'behind the times' because it has a cassette deck. I do realize that some also indicate they are 'behind the times' due to lack of fuel injection and gauges - but I'd like to focus on the cassette deck for now since so many get fired up over it (I'd like to understand). The way I see it, is Yamaha is giving us MORE options. They give us the AM/FM radio, a cassette deck, an optional CD CHANGER (standard on 09 and up), integrated into the audio system as well as an Aux plug for whatever audio we want to plug into. So, if you don't like the cassette deck, keep the little door closed and don't use it, or pull it out and put something else in like a storage compartment or gauges. Why all of the complaining? I just don't get it. Just like the little, almost useless, DC connector under the seat that many of us snip off and put something else useful on there. Just because I choose NOT to use it, doesn't mean I'm going to B and Moan to Yamaha because they put it there. I really don't understand all the hub-ub about the cassette deck, maybe someone can enlighten me. By the way, I happen to use mine. I have a handful of cassettes that I recorded some music on for when I don't feel like hooking up my MP3 player - or when I don't want to deal with batteries going dead or whatever. My cassette deck never skips.
14. Sony announced that it is stopping production of the cassette based Walkman unit. Maybe this will finally convince Yamaha that a cassette player is no longer needed on the Venture?
15. http://www.autoevolution.com/news-g-image/bmw-k-1600-gt-k-1600-gtl-unveiled/32909.html#image http://www.autoevolution.com/news/bmw-k-1600-gt-k-1600-gtl-unveiled-25059.html Price will be revealed at a later date. Sorry no cassette deck.
16. I have a 2008 venture and would like to get rid of my cassette deck and install what? I don't want to stock cds in the bike but I suppose if I have to I would. I would prefer a USB hook up to plug in an Ipod. Is there anything like that available ? Tks.
17. Anyone have this unit? Not thinking about buying it. I was at a friend's house last night and he installed this unit in his Venture. It is made for hotrods, classic cars and such so it is not waterproof. He did get caught in a downpour once but he said the unit itself didn't get wet. He said moisture still got in it and after a couple days it cleared up. He was scared there for a bit that he might be losing the radio after he just bought it due to this. He took out the cassette player, but the amplifier in its' place. He said it was the same size and put the face plate where the cassette door used to be. He likes the controls much better. They way he did it, he did remove the Venture Controls on the handlebar. The only thing he lost is CB, but he doesn't use it anyway. http://www.dreamershotrods.com/customautosoundsecretaudiossthiddenradio.aspx
18. I am playing with a couple ideas for the 1st Gen. stereo. I am looking for a couple dead cassette players. All I am looking for is an intact casing and top bezel. I don't care about the buttons or the cassette door. JB
19. Need some help trying to remove my cassette deck from my 07 rsv have the 4 bolts out from the sides the 2 screws from the front it's loose but it's like the front door (closed) wont fit thur the opening, its hanging up. From what i can see the face plate is catching on top and i dont have enough room for it to slide out. Dont want to froce it. any suggestion's Thanks Ken
20. I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I can't find it. Is it possible to dis-connect the cassette player from an '89 VR and still have the radio work? I sure would like to get rid of the cassette player as it doesn't work and don't want to fix it. Would love to add an MP3 player in its place. Any comments or suggestions?
21. Was over at the Delphi forum and saw a discussion on the infamous Venture cassette. Someone mentioned an MP3 player that fit into a cassette but didn't specify a source. I did a little looking and came up with: http://usb.brando.com/usb-cassette-mp3-player-ii_p01481c035d15.html Somebody has to try one of these and let us know about audio quality, output power (volume), battery life etc. I wonder if the "skip" function would work - if so, it might be a perfect solution. (if sound quality is satisfactory and the rechargable battery is good for 8 hr or more) This same device came up in a number of locations searching on "cassette MP3 Player". Be careful because many of the devices that come up on a search are just cassette adaptors that you plug the MP3 player into while this can be used as a stand-alone MP3 or as a cassette surrogate. This one is a newer version that has a remote (not very useful on a bike) but also supports high capacity (16gb) SD cards. Thought I would throw it out there in case anyone is interested. Ross
22. Posted this in "Want to buy" classifieds. Probably shoulda posted it here for better response. Anyway, I'm looking for a 1st Gen plastic cassette raincover for my 1988VR. Any ideas where I can find one? There probably aren't any venders offering new ones, are there? Thanks for any help. Rusty
23. My cassette deck was not working, so I took it over to my dealer to have it checked out. They found the problem. :rotf::rotf:
24. I just drove a 2009 school bus and it had an AM/FM cassette deck installed from the factory. I didn't bring any casssetes to try it out!!!
25. Looking for a Cassette Player for a Midnight RSV. Seeing you guys have replaced the Cassette Player with gauges, cd players and storage areas, figure there might be one out there for sale cheap. Really only need the door cause my Cassette Player door is scratched and it stares at me in the face while I am riding. Don't know if just the door can be replaced but willing to replace the whole unit if the door cannot be. Thanks Guys.
