  1. Please say a prayer for my wife and I. Our 28 year old daughter passed away in her sleep on October 15th. We have just returned from Canada after laying her to rest and are trying to deal with the grief and sorrow. The autopsy results will take 5 to 6 months:95:
  2. I have been on Harley's for the last 10 years and have grown weary of the arrogance, both in the other riders and unfortunately myself as well. I am shifting in a Yamaha direction, great bikes. I am very diligent concerning maintenance and am not a racer. I will turn 20,000 a year though, all over the US and Canada. I am looking at the Venture. What kind of life expectancy, long term reliability, etc can I expect.
  3. Well, looks like I get to make a trip north of the border again..... This time I get to load a runway sweeper on a RGN stretch and take it to Saskatoon....... Maybe I can make another M&E with the truck.......
  4. Trying to get more members involved. In the Savager Hunt in the Fun and Frivolous Forum the current target is: USA: You, Your Bike and a Bar with a Budweiser sign or banner on it. Canada: You, Your Bike and a Bar with a Labatts sign or banner on it. What Country will win?

  6. I don't own a 2nd Gen so I'm not in the market for anything from this seller, but I've seen this often on E-Bay and now here and I always wonder WHY NOT? Boxing it up would be the same price! The Buyer usually has to pay the shipping (and deal with customs)...so what's the problem? It is always preferred to use USPS instead of UPS or FedEx to avoid the outragous brokerage fees they charge to cross the border. That means you have to pay the postage up front....but you can always have the buyer pay the cost before you ship. So why do sellers DISCRIMINATE against us poor Cannucks? (Did I just open the floodgates for a world of digs?)
  7. BaggerShield's new tall and wide RSV shield is now in stock and ready for shipment. Picture of the shield is below. This shield adjusts from 10.5" to 16.5" and is 4" wider than the stock model. All Venturerider.org members receive 10% off plus free priority shipping to anywhere in the US and Canada. Shipping only takes 2 days from time of order in the US and 4 days to Canada! Give me a call to receive your forum discount or send me a PM to get you discount code to use at http://www.baggershield.com http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/bb402/BaggerShield/Dealer%20Info/StarVen105-165.jpg
  8. Recycle - Re-use I have come to the end of my Cycle Canada subscription and I have 5 months (I think Nov 2010 - March 2011) kicking around. Would anyone be intersted in these? I'd prefer to NOT have to mail them. Maybe someone nearby, we could meet? I presume it has to be a Canuck as the magazines are written in Canadian
  9. I am so p!$$ed off. I have a 07 RSV. At 11,000 km's (6800 miles) I had to get the rear shock changed because it started to leak. Still under warranty and at 34,000km (21,000 miles) it is shot again. Dealer contacted Yamaha for a replacement and they were told no way, not going to happen. Yamaha Canada told dealer that it is my fault that there is no way I should need another shock and if it is leaking, it is something I am doing. Dealer said Yamaha told him maybe I run tires underinflated. Well I don't, I always check my air pressure and besides, even if that were true, I don't think that would ruin a shock. So in other words, what Yamaha is saying is, it is impossible that they replaced the first shock with a possible defective one. Now, I know you only have my word on this..... I am 190lbs and rarely, my wife will ride on the back. She is 110lbs. I do not travel on rough roads and don't abuse my bike. The shock is over $600.00 plus labor to install it. How can a company offer a 5 year warranty if they can so easily get out of it? I am calling Yamaha Canada customer service tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to say, what to do about this, where I can turn to for help. There is no way I am going to bite the bullet for this. You can't tell me that they can say with 100% certainty that the replacement shock they put in was 100% perfect. HELP, please with your suggestions, comments. Help me arm myself for the attack on Yamaha Canada tomorrow. Thank you. Greg
  10. Canada Day is this upcoming Friday and is a HOLIDAY for the Great White North venture riders. Any one planning a day ride?
  11. I need to fix the gear indicator and have read in the tech section that I will probably need new gaskets and O-ring. Is there a good place to get them in Canada?

  13. This morning, from a cave somewhere in Pakistan, Taliban Minister of Migration, Mohammed Omar, warned the United States and Canada that if military action against Iraq and Afghanistan continues, Taliban authorities will cut off America and Canada's supply of convenience store managers. And if this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Visa, Bell and Rogers customer service reps. It's getting ugly folks, real ugly.
  14. In June I'll by crossing into Canada with a friend. I have crossed before on bikes but that was well before 9/11. Back then we just pulled up to the customs booth together. Can we still do that or do they want one bike at a time?
  15. Can someone help me with a good place for shipping a tire to Canada? Im getting prices close to $100.00 I am trying to help a fellow VR member out.
  16. We have lost the last of our WWI vets. The man died of natural causes at 110. The other two men mentioned didn't actually serve in WWI they were still in basic when it ended. According to the article the last WWI vet from Canada died last year in Feb. Pretty interesting article. Thought some would like to read it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110228/ap_on_re_us/us_obit_last_wwi_veteran Margaret
  17. I am thinking of leading a group of Arkansas Riders on a longer ride and have been wondering about Ontario, Canada. Someone educate me on a couple of things regarding Ontario (sorry for my ignorance). I know we'll all need to have passports, but where or what is the best place to cross the border? What is the best time of the year to make a 14-21 day trip like this? What are some MUST SEE sites and things to see in Ontario? Thanks for any information. Wally

  20. I want to know where I can buy paint to match my 1989 Venture Royale Maroon colour? What number do I have to give them to match the paint number? I live in Manitoba, Canada. Does anyone in Canada know where you can buy the paint? Thanks
  21. Coldest Canadian riding across Canada in 19 days? Crazy and cold? No worry that the bike overheats. http://coldestcanadian.ca/19-days-bone-chillin-riding
  22. Just looked at the recent gas prices in most major cities in Canada. We're around $1.24 per litre (that's about $4.70 per US gal) and we're the highest in all of Canada. Most other places are about 10 cents per litre cheaper and even Victoria, which is our next closest major centre, which is across the straight from us is cheaper. Lowest price posted is $1.01 up in Edmonton, Alberta. Now I know the cost of crude is going up and why but there's really something wrong when we Canucks have to pay such a high price, not to mention why Vancouver is so much higher than most of the rest of Canada. Thankfully our vehicles don't run on water coz to buy a litre of that would be outrageous! LOL
  23. This seller is currently showing free shipping to Canada .... at least for this RAM mount if anyone is interested. 24. After not being able to find my Canadian source for Plastex, a little old man told me they went out of business. Does anyone else know if there is another distributor IN CANADA, that ships to online customers?
