  1. Ron is a rebater. If that is a word. He finds these rebate offers on different brands of beers. Last night,he found that his rebate on Bud Lite Lime was dated June 30. On most of these rebates you have to buy another item. This one was buy $10.00 worth of chicken and the beer and then you get the rebate money. Ok, so we buy $30.00 worth of chicken because he is rebating for our children too. and two cases of beer. We put this all in the bike. Next he finds out we need to buy 5 other cases of beer for another rebate offer. So we take the bike. Two cases in the trunk, one in each saddlebag and I carried the fifth one. What's the most you have ever carried on your bikes? Oh I forgot to mention, I had two brake lines in my hands from my son in laws'truck, and a large hostas that my daughter wanted me to plant at our house. People were staring, but so what. Yama Mama
  2. I want to grease the spline of the drive shaft and the Service manual recommends Lithium soap base grease. I am not sure what to buy. I have looked at a number of greases and many mention lithium as a componenet but nowhere does it mention "Lithium Soap Base" . I have bought Lucas Red and Tacky no.2. The information on the tube mentions that it is a technical blend of lithium and polymer plus a heavy addition of antiwhear /anti -seize agents. Good temperature stability, resistance to Acid and Alkali, good resistence to rust and excellent water resistance. It is a readish color. Is that OK to use? What are the alternative that would also do the job that I can buy in Canada? Is White LIthium Grease (either in tube or spray cans) OK? I need your expert advice on what product to use. Thanks Jean-Claude
  3. Does anyone know where I can buy a complete rebuilt kit worth the money? Do they even make a complete rebuilt kit? By complete I mean one that has everything for the internal instead of having to buy jets and other things seperate. Or does anyone have a set of carbs that are ready to go on for sale? excuse my ignorance on this carb stuff but I gotta learn eventually to do things myself because the shops are just getting higher in price.
  4. I just noticed the "wear bars" on my rear Avons.(25K kms) Last time I got a quote from Zdeno, and then went to BKBike on hwy 6 and they matched the price. Where do you all, from this area, buy your tires? Do you order them from the US? Unfortunately, I must go to a garage for the install, and that is a hun for the rear! So I'm trying to save a little do-re-mi. Thanks for your help.
  5. I'm still kinda in shock over this.... My wife Peg bought me a 04 Midnight Venture Peg said since I sold all my bikes to pay - funeral - doctor - knee rehab - and other bills plus helping my family with their bills $$ She said she wanted to buy me a motorcycle? I'm shocked like who are you? one night she asked if Mavrick still had his 04 Midnight for sale I said guess so why? Lets buy it wow my jaw dropped and hit the floor could not believe she said that. Well today she gave Mavrick the check to the Midnight and I have to say this is one beautiful bike Mavrick babied this machine very nice and the sound is beautiful BUB mufflers I fell in Love all over again. I seen Mavricks Midnight at Giga whiskey last maintenance day and fell in love with his bike man it was a beauty we talked awhile then went on with our lives never thought I would end up with this Midnight. Peg said she knew I prefer the Venture over the Wing due to my knee problem but I bought the wing for her anyway due to her back trouble! she said I'm always doing for others so she bought me this Midnight. I never had anyone buy me something this big or this nice . I almost cried I usually end up with a package of socks:rotfl: Mavrick and his better half Pam took us out for a ride and bought us lunch Thank You Pam for the lunch it was fun and the place was really nice:happy34: and hope we can return the favor. Peg's back was feeling pretty good and had no trouble riding the Midnight I think she had more fun than me we had a blast riding with Mavrick & Pam I will post better photos later the 6hr return trip kinda tired me out and sun burned my arms pretty good in the Texas Heat but it was worth it Buddy
  6. Eddie

    A new toy

I was going to buy a new bike, but when you have the best kind out there .... Well ...... How about a 1st Gen eater. I said it.
  7. While test riding my 86 VR just after getting the new motor completely installed and all the bugs worked out, I was riding it without any of the plastic body parts, except the bags and the upper fairing, and the fuze box cover went a different direction than the rest of the bike. Didn't notice it was gone until I arrived back to my place. Just checked out Fleabay and nada. I don't believe one can buy this part separately from anyone. Soooo, does anyone on here have a fuze box cover they won't mind parting with. Just let me know and how much you will need for the item.
  8. Please read this; our duty to react is in our hands!..Sharon K When the Canadian dollar was low in value, foreign companies bought up most of the businesses in Canada at garage sale prices. Foreign owners have closed down the canning factories in Exeter (north of London, ON) and in the Niagara area. As a result the local farmers have no place to sell their produce or have it preserved. In the soft fruit producing area of Niagara, farmers have ripped out their peach trees because other than road side stands who will buy their fruit? The big companies have already decided and publicly announced that it is cheaper to buy canned peaches from Greece, so that is what you will see in stores. The farm land is being sold to developers and turned into big house and condo developments. The canning factory in Exeter was eventually taken over by a co-op of former employees and they will try to make a go of it but it sounds kind of shaky. The politicians stood by and did nothing. Garlic is no longer produced in Canada because it comes from China at a price cheaper than the cost of production in Canada. That's all you see in stores and there is no Canadian produced garlic to choose from even at a higher price. Maybe the high taxes in Canada have something to do with it. A small but determined radical group trying to unionize farm labour didn't help matters either. Sure all these trade agreements bring us low cost material goods, but if everyone is out of a job who is going to buy these products? Good luck trying to find 100% Canadian products in stores. The only way to find such a thing is to deal directly with the farmer and leave out the retailer. "FOOD" for thought. More information on this subject..... I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT THE COUNTRY MARKET. ON> THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA '. FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN FROM CHINA I WAS SHOCKED!! SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE IS FROM CAL . Another example was in canned mushrooms. No-Name brand came From Indonesia . Next to them were President Choice brand. Produce of Canada !! The P. C. Went into my grocery bag. TAKES FOREVER JUST TO BUY FOOD AND DO LABEL READING !! Are we Canadians and Americans as dumb as we appear --- Or --- is it that we just do not think? While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in North American markets, the media wrings its hands and criticizes the Bush Administration (now Obama Administration) (and the Harper Government!) for perceived errors. Yet 70% of North Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended. Well, duh... why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges? SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, CANADA/AMERICA!! Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ) simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without. Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some North American farmer. Easter is just an example, the point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own. THINK ABOUT THIS, If 200 million North Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favour . . . Fast!! The downside? Some Canadian/American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! The solution? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on June 4, and continue it until July 4. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their North American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it... "Remember: June 4 to July 4 " EVEN BETTER. . . START NOW! Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are intelligent Canadians and Americans, And NOBODY can take us for granted. If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET! Pass it on, North America !
  9. So...I know you guys said buy it at Honda... Honda Car Dealer or Honda Motorcycle Dealer???
  10. After reading your thread about the new helmets I decided to go look at new ones as well. In order to get the ones I wanted, I had to buy some other "accessories" to match. Now see what you went and got started!!
  11. I saw a picture somewhere of how someone had reinforced their trunk to prevent it breaking... but I can not for the life of me find that picture again. My cycle did not come with a trunk so I bought one off ebay and had to buy the mounting rack also, because they had cut off the bolts on it. Would it be enough to just use big washers in mounting it?
  12. I am looking for either a slightly used foam part of the drivers seat or a pillowtop seat. Was working on mine and kind of messed it up. Was able to temp fix it for riding but would like to have something better. If someone has a matched pair and I need to buy them both, I will contemplate it. Thanks for any help, chuck
  13. What do you guys think? It is starting to have 2nd gear issues. Would it be worth it to buy and then put the motor from an '88 in it? Dave
  14. Look what you can now buy for CHEAP!!! http://www.buysell.com/root/detail/BC/Motorcycles_1001_1500cc/4810/74545891/FOR_SALE_IS_MY_2008_Yamaha_Royal_Star.aspx?gok=Motorcycles+1001++1500cc
  15. My carbs are completely clogged on left hand side of the engine. I am going to take them off and I am wondering if anyone knows: is there a kit to replace everything in the carb - jets bowls etc..\ where can the best price be had What kind of money would make it best to buy a used set of carbs, I found a set of carbs that just came off a running 83 venture but not sure what they are worth. As alwasy I do appreciate the info and help..
  16. This may have been posted here but I am trying to bid on one and I need to know if the ignition switch out of an 84 will fit and 88 venture. I also need to know if I can get the tumblers out of the new switch without the key. There is no key for the switch I am trying to buy and I want to put my old key back in so they are still keyed right.
  17. He has both avon venom tires the am41 and am42 for $250.00. Also has anyone used the dyna beads for balancing the tires.was going to buy the metzlers but cant, pull the triger on them with all i have been hearing on them. Thanks for any input on this.
  18. Hey Everyone,, hope all is well I have a pathetic 720 miles on my New 09' Venture( purchased on April Fools Day 2010) as of today. I was running around doing errands & stuff. The Radio, CD player, cuts out while riding, sitting at a light, scratching my butt, it doesn't matter. Sometimes with the engine not running, it plays just fine. So I called my dealer, asked if they had any thoughts. The Ser. Mgr asked a couple of ??'s like is the CB on, Did I read the Manual? ETC... & ( My Favorite ) Did you buy the bike here? If you have Factory Warranty, it doesn't matter where you buy it. He still gets the billable, & paid by Yamaha. If I want to bring it in, Leave it for the day, because it takes a long time to remove the Fairing. He seemed to have an attitude, Because I didn't buy from them, I did try, but the money wasn't right & The color of the bike was wrong. Anyway Sam G. Who is the Parts Manager at Beach Blvd Powersports in Jax., Fl. is really cool, I have been doing buisness with him for about 10 years, he's in my phone on speed dial. What is it with Service Departments??? I am A Factory Mobile Technician, I have to do Warranty work too, I get credit for the Travel, Labor, Mileage, Parts. Its guaranteed work!! Why would they rather piss-off a good customer, than treat them like you want their buisness?? OK I'm done venting!! I lied ,, Now I'm done. I also do all my tires with them too. mounting & Balancing etc.. So Today when I got home,,, I did my first service, and I removed the front fairing,It didn't take very long at all, went looking for a bad connection, While the bike was running in my shop with all doors closed, I played with all the wires, did not find anything that seemed to cause a problem. Put it back together, CD & Radio work fine. Until I am going down the road, then it will go goofy again, maybe not?? Anyone have a simuliar problem??? I am really liking the Venture. It works much better on my sand road, so I can now ride when ever I want. The wife really likes backs seat too, and alot more room, and the Floorboards are great too. Ok I'm done for alittle while. Later Vern
  19. OK, DQ fans! This week only: buy a Blizzard and get another one for a quarter!http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0
  20. Hey Folks, I have a perhaps odd question to ask all of our members here. Lonna and I just signed a renters agreement on a doublewide MH with a 2 car garage...Yay for us It's all furnished with washer/dryer, stove, fridge yada yada yada. We now need to get some items for the house as we left quite a few things with Lonnas sister back at our old home in Michigan. The 1 thing we really need is going to be a good set of culinary knives. I'm not talking about the stuff you buy at Walmarts, this will be the last set of knives we buy. I'm no chef, but I do know there are good knive companies out there like Henckel and such. These are professional knives and that is what we are looking for. We have a great many members here with varied back grounds. What I would like is if you folks that are in the know or are culinary professionals (or anybody for that fact) could suggest a set of good quality knives that will last our lifetime. Price is somewhat of an issue, but I dont mind paying for quality and I'm thinking somewhere in the $300 or less price range. Do appreciate all you help with this one
  21. My Dad is looking to sell his 2000 RK with 31k on it. Very clean, black, fuel injected, all the fun stuff like LED mirrors with integrated turn signals, removable sissy bar, air horn, extra lighting on the rear, blah blah blah. He wants to buy a new Road Glide or Street glide... If I'm not mistaken he said $8500 would make him happy. I'd be all over it, but I can't cough up the dough. I'll try to get a classified ad in here today, it's located in Richlands, NC 28574. It looks just like this one, but Dad's has stock pipes. http://images01.olx.com/ui/2/91/83/f_23678883_1.jpeg
  22. I have running lights on my 2004 RSV I damage the ring that goes around the light that holds it together. Does any body have one that I could buy here are some pictures of what I need or do you know were I can get one.
