  1. Hi I recently bought a new trunk and it came without lock or fittings. I was checking Pinwall on Ebay but cannot figure out what pieces i need to buy in order to finish my trunk. I was wondering if anyone had some pic's of the inside of their trunk that they could share? It would help me visualise what I need to buy. The previous owner had a complete set of Givi luggage installed and I would like to replace those. I hope someone can help me regards Eddie in sunnybutbroke Ireland
  2. I don't have a cell phone and don't particularly want one. That said it appears that a cell phone could be considered as a necessary piece of safety chrome. I'm coming to Cody so if I buy one in Canada, can I make calls in the US or do I need to buy one in the US for that? Obviously I know squat about this topic so any reasonably accurate info will be much appreciated.
  3. my fuel pump went out the other day took pump off connect the two lines got it home no problem. i am going to buy a MR gasket fuel pump will the connector work or do i need to cut and splice the old plug on to it? thanks
  4. These bikes keep cropping up. http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285699 Instead of a GW, I may just have to buy one of these one day.
  5. I need someone in the Hendersonville Tn. area to look at a BMW Z3 for me, be happy to buy your gas and a DQ stop in the process. Thanks
  6. Who Will it be Gary N or Swifty???
  7. I'm looking at replaceing my front tire with an E'3. I'm running an Avon on the back now, will this cause any problems? Also, where do you guys buy your tires? Thanks for help.
  8. I bought a set of Bub mufflers off craigslist and love the sound. The tips are flaking. Has anyone sanded down the chrome and painted the tips with a high temp paint? They might look nice with flat black paint. I know I can buy new tips.
  9. Been talkin to a mechanic friend of mine that owns a Stihl/Gravely/Snapper shop. Customer came in and had to buy a new caberator. His had sat over the winter and you could see where the inside of his carb had been etched by corrosion. The float had this greenish black crud all over it and the carb in general was unsalvageable. Although the carb was only $40, Ed said it could have been averted by following these easy rules: Don't let your gas sit in anything for more than two weeks un-treated (stabel for ethanol). When storing 1. Run machine completely out of fuel 3. Fill fuel line with Seafoam. You can buy a three pack of empty 6 oz. thin neck plastic bottles that you can fill, to squirt the seafoam in the fuel line. 4. Try to start (ensures seafoam has completely filled your fuel pump and carbs). I also had to buy a carb for my garden tiller two years ago as the same thing hapened to it. I intend on using this "no gas" method in the futrure. Just wanted to pass it along for your consideration.
  10. Hello I was wondering if anybody knew where I could buy a left turn signal cover? I don't want to buy the whole unit I just need the cover. Thanks
  11. My buddy has a 99 venture and he just loves gooosing the throttle. so much that it started slipping on him. I said I would do the work but i cant seem to find the clucth kit. the stealer wants$350 for the kit. Does anyone know where I can buy a clutch kit without giving my buddy a heart attack. Any suggestions as well. i think his clucth has to be bled because my 96 feel firmer than his so that may be part of the problem.
  12. I was given a little cash from my ex co-workers for my retirement...the caviet was I must buy bike stuff! Tough crowd but I see more chrome and such in my bikes future. I was wondering if anyone has the harley rear lighting system laying around. I know Buckeye has some listed. Right now I am not interested in full price items unless I have to ( cheaper means more stuff right). So far I have bought a new tire and a new pair of mesh type pants I have been after but too cheap to buy myself. Got em from Motorcycle Gear through the link so we should get some credit. Thanks all.
  13. Don just got a Zumo 660 and I downloaded music to it because it said I could. Then the GPS wouldn't stay on. Everytime I would turn it on to see if the music was ok, it would turn itself off in 5 seconds. Frustrating!! So then I deleted all but 2 songs and now it stays on and plays those 2 songs. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't download more songs. I finally downloaded the manual to my computer (since NOTHING comes with a manual anymore). It MENTIONS a 4 GB micro SD card. ???? So why in the world does it NOT come with one??? Just another dang accessory you have to buy I guess. So now my question is: Can I just go to Wal Mart or Radio Shack and buy a "card" or does it have to be the one from Garmin, which by the way costs $33 (plus shipping I am sure) and says takes 2-3 weeks before it will ship? Any ideas or suggestions? Patti
  14. So yesterday after looking at my outdoor parked Royal star for weeks in disgust. My paint doesnt have that showroom shine I see those harley guys have and yes my bike has 3 times the miles that thier do i still feel awful. I was reluctant to buy the mothers wax cause I am too cheap and at $13 I could buy 3 other bottles and get the job done. well that isnt the case. i have tried turtle wax, Ice, and a few other bike specific waxs liquid and paste. This one truly brought back that deep black showroom shine. the only thing that gives it away is the small rust spot and deeper scratches on the tank. The haze is gone and it feels amazing. the side untouched feels rough whiel the waxed sides is smooth. Sorry no pics yet guys because just as I was applying the second coat to the chrome on the side stand side . April showers began , just to make my day. Before and after pics to cme. MEGUAIRS all the way
  15. Where would you recommend purchasing Progressive Springs for 89 VR from?

  18. I have been trying for 3 weeks to buy my wife a motorcycle. I have answered 10 ad's on craigs list, told them I have cash on hand and I will buy the bike if I like it. I cant get anyone to call me back, one guy keeps stalling, and another that was willing to meet decided he is not selling it anymore. I cant figure it out.
  19. I want to know where I can buy paint to match my 1989 Venture Royale Maroon colour? What number do I have to give them to match the paint number? I live in Manitoba, Canada. Does anyone in Canada know where you can buy the paint? Thanks
  20. I just noticed that tomorrow's date will be 01/11/11 I think this seems like it could be a rather lucky day. Might be a day to buy a lottery ticket, etc. I wish you the best. Yama Mama:Laugh:
  21. Lesson 1 1. Go to the grocery store. 2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office. 3. Go home. 4. Pick up the paper. 5. Read it for the last time. Lesson 2 Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their... 1. Methods of discipline. 2. Lack of patience. 3. Appallingly low tolerance levels. 4. Allowing their children to run wild. 5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior. Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers. Lesson 3 A really good way to discover how the nights might feel... 1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner) 2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep. 3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM. 4. Set the alarm for 3AM. 5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial. 6. Go to bed at 2:45AM. 7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off. 8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM. 9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive) Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together. Lesson 4 Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out... 1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains. 2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer. 3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed. 4. Then rub them on the clean walls. 5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it. 6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look? Lesson 5 Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems. 1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh. 2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out. Time allowed for this - all morning. Lesson 6 Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that. 1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there. 2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player. 3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot. 4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car. Lesson 7 Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children. Lesson 8 1. Hollow out a melon. 2. Make a small hole in the side. 3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side. 4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane. 5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone. 6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air. You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby. Lesson 9 Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point. Lesson 10 Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler. Lesson 11 Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room. This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a parent!
  22. While wandering thru websites looking stuff today I stumbled on a nice looking RSTD with some road rash on it. Its a write off from insurance but if someone could buy it cheap enough it might be worth while. I know the side bag and the tank damage is pricey to buy new, but a guy might be able to find used. Does anyone know If this one of our members old machines? http://www.crankyape.com/default.asp?pg=DispSingleItem&ItemNumber=24503 Brian
  23. I just bought an '02 Venture with what looks like the pillow top seats and they are cracked on the seating surface between the buttons. Does anyone make a replacement cover for these? I really don't want to buy all new these seem to be comfortable.
  24. I am thinking about buy the wife an i-pad for Christmas. has anyone out there bought one if so do you like it. Is it a good buy or should a guy just get a e-reader. The wifes wants something to read books but it looks like a i-pod does a lot more. Want to do what to do.
  25. A great buy on ebay. A little more than the last set, but still cheap... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Royal-Star-Venture-1300-Saddlebag-Lid-Guards-Trim-Rails-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c59510568QQitemZ190477043048QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
