Avon Venom tyres have a remarkable following here. Most of us who run them (especially with the MT90 front) feel the handling is the best we have experienced. I got 14,000 miles out of the first rear tyre (after only getting 8,000 from the stock Brickstone), so they seem to wear very well. Best prices and service to buy them from SW Moto Tires in Tucson, Arizona. They have a number of web sites and names, but easy to find with a Google search. They ship free if you buy at least two tires.

I just purchased a 2000 RSV last week. This is my first "tour" style bike and I can't tell how excited I am! I absolutley love this bike but I'm full of questions. One thing I want to do is get helmets with headsets so I can communicate with the little lady and listen to the radio.... Can anyone recomend a decent brand/model? I've seen J&M and Chatterbox products on the net but there are so many models to choose from. I don't want buy two sets only to find out that the sound quality/volume is poor or they won't work with the Venture. Any input is welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Jay

I am seriuosly considering buy a new 05 RSTD. What scares me is what I have been reading about a whining and a chirping noise that some say is really loud and aggrevating. Is this common on all RSTD bikes? I know I probably wouldn't like to hear these noises cruising at highway speeds.Some say the noise problem can be fixed, some say it will never go away. I just don't want to have to get rid of the bike soon after I buy it. I like everything else about the bike. I know all new bikes have their problems. But is this a serious enough problem to keep somebody from buying this bike? Your honest comments will be appreciated.

Just in here doing some research. I've ridden a VTX 1800C for the last three years (many other bikes prior to that) and I'm ready for a change. I rode the X from Jax, Fl to the race at Sebring a week or so ago and stopped to buy some gloves at a Suzuki dealer on Hy 27 in the Lake Wales area. He had an '06 RSTD that he had bought from a car dealer and the salesman talked me in into riding it. I liked it well enough but passed on the deal. I had just stopped to buy gloves after all. However, I decided on the ride home that I might want to get something with a bit more of a touring bent without going the dresser route. It was a long and chilly trip. I've been looking hard at different bikes since then and I've realized that the TD pretty much fits the bill. I rode a beautiful Valk Interstate that I imagined would set me on fire but I didn't like the cylinders in the way of my feet. I've ridden Harley's and, well, they're OK but feel very small after riding others and there's no way to get decent power W/O spending big bucks. The new Roadliner/Stratoliners are nice but for some reason the TD seems to strike a better chord. Looked at others too but nothing got me going. I'll miss the VTX's kick in the butt, but I'm slowing down a bit and think I'll enjoy the comfort of the TD. I hope my newb questions don't bug anyone too much and I'll read the archives as much as possible before asking obvious questions. I'm a long-time VTXOA member so I know folks get tired of reading the same questions year after year.

I've looked through so many threads on here that now I'm confused. So I'll just ask a direct question in hopes of getting a link. I want to buy the Sirius SV3-TK1 Stratus receiver for my 05 RSTD. What I'm looking for is a handlebar mount for that particular receiver that also will hold the antenae. Like the XM roadie has. Any help will be appreciated. Also want to let folks know with Sirius you can buy a years subscription, get an extra month free and can put your service on hold for up to 5 months without being charged a reconnection fee. So during the winter months those of us who are fair weather riders won't be charged for service were not using. Mike -
Thought I'd start a helpful thread on where to buy tires. It seems that prices are all over the board and if we can convince some retailer that there are 2000 members here that will buy on price we may have some results. Personally I don't mind if a retailer makes some money on what they sell, that way I know they will be there for service when I need it and will also be there when I need more stuff, but sometimes I see a ripoff happening and then it's time to put some competition into the mix. So when you post here, let us know where you bought your tires and for how much, including shipping or what ever else you paid. Light up the back lollypops?

I am trying to find lighting options for my 06 RSTD and I was thinking of lighting up the back turn signals like I did with my 03 Vstar. Anybody do this or is there a cheaper way? -
I'm bad with names but, someone at Micky D's was needing something to clean thier connectors with. We talked about Caig Labs DeoxIT D100L. I believe Fry's sells Caig probucts. If not you can Google Caig DeoxIT and find many places you can buy it. You want the D100L-xx. Where xx is the type of dispencer it comes in. I get the bottle with brush applicator (-2DB). This is a very good contact cleaner conditioner, and is MIL SPEC.
