  1. I just wont say whose size 10 boot knocked it off but judging from the location you can guess who did it. Yes, the lovely Mrs Ruff knocked off the PTT button on the left trunk armrest. So, if anyone here has a spare button just taking up space on your work bench or jewelery box, I need one. Thanks....
  2. The horn on the right side of my 2000 RSV is not working. I checked the voltage and it shows to be around 9.6 volts, when the horn button is pressed and 0 when not. Should it be 12 or greater? Is there a relay that could be going bad?
  3. Looks like Venture is not going to happen for Skid-In but took time out to look at 750. Battery up hit button nothing. Crossed over cylinoid (cant Spell) and VROOOOMM instantly. Still no action from button. Where is first place to look??? May get to do one of the rides at Skid-In yet if I have to carry screwdriver in pocket!! Help quick where look first??

  5. Got a factory radio to put on the rig, checked it last nite with power, button #2 for preset is sunk down in, keeps unit from operating, power comes on, have some functionality, but no channel changing. Any tricks or ideas? If not, I'll have to go back to aftermarket setup for this weekend. Dan
  6. I've had two reports from people who tell me that the donation button in the upper right of the menu bar and also the one in the left menus do not work and you just get a blank page with some text. If that is happening, then you just need to clear your browsers "cache" because it is pulling up old pages from your cache. Some have also told me that they don't want to "subscribe" because they don't want it to automatically bill them again a year from now. Please note, ONLY the monthly subscriptions are automatic billing. For the yearly ones, you will get a reminder but will NOT be automatically billed.
  7. Does anyone have a spare fast forward/rewind button off a 1st gen VR cassette unit? It appears someone decided they needed the button worse than I when I parked at WallyWorld yesterday. Probably just some kids exploring, but man it ticks me off that they cant leave well enuff alone. Let me know how much you asking for it and how we can work out payment. I could just buy another radio unit, but I really dont need more motorcycle stuff sitting around here. Thanks, Brian
  8. On my 83, to manually cancel the signal lights, I have to push down on the button. On Squidleys 86 that I rode, to manually cancel, I pushed the button in. This was the same as my 79 850 Special I had before the Venture. I like the push style much better. I did not remember to look closely at squid's bike to see if it is the same basic set up as my Standard 83 with his being a Royale. I know there is more controls above it that I don't have, but I forgot to look at how they attached. When was the changeover on this and what will fit mine with the "push in cancel"? My auto cancel works, sometimes I like to cancel quicker. RandyA

    PTT Button

Okay since I got the bike in the fall of 05 and the novelty oy listening to the CB wore off (quickly) I haven't used the CB,now 38000 km later one of the guys that rides with got a Vision and we tried talking to each other but my Ptt button doesn,t work we had to communicate via my wife on the back. I sprayed contact cleaner in (from outside) no change,do I have to take it all apart and clean or replace anything and will anything fall apart when I remove the housing. . Ron
  10. Don things running pretty smoothly around here, so I had to come up with something for you to think about. Curious if there is any interest, or if it was possible to have a button that would send someone an email/pm notification that someone posted a question in a thread. SO you could hit this button and notice will go out to that persons email, similar to the Delphi forums. Occasionally someone will post a comment/suggestion in a thread and you may post a question to that person but that person may never come back to that thread to see the Question. Just an idea and yes I know I could send them a note, but others may be interested in the reply. BRad
  11. I know in the past I have read several posts where people have lost the push to talk cb button on their 2nd generations bikes.....My dealer got me one for my bike under warrenty......I know in the past they were changing the whole unit for a button...Here are the part numbers 4xy-88157-00 for the passenger cb push to talk button 4xy-88137-00 for the passenger volume control knob I was going to post this in the 2nd generation tech library but wouldnt let me for some reason.
  12. I have a 2001 RSV, I cant get my cruise control to set it will come on when you turn it on but it will not set when i push the button. Has anyone know what maybe going on with the cruise control. Thanks.
  13. 06 RSTD, 22k miles. ridden daily and dealer maintained (maint contract). anyway- went out Saturday morning - nothing happned when i hit the start button. checked the kill switch (was set for run) and neutral light (was green) - kickstand - was down. hit it again - nothing. lights don't dim. horn & signals work! played with various combinations of clutch lever, kick stand, gear position, kill switch, ignition switch - still nothin. in gear - bump the engine several times - more of the same. after a 4 hour wait for the tow truck - but that's another VERY FRUSTRATING STORY!!!! - scoot was hauled to the local dealer. "o yea" says my favorite tech "it started right up when it got here!"... good thing he beleives me - said they'll take it apart and have a look see.
  14. After reading the reponses I got, I tried out the cruise control again on a few good days we had this week. Symptoms include 1) When I hit the set button, the "set" light comes on. But when I let go of throttle, it drops 5 mph then pulls it back up to set speed. I tried hitting the accel button, but no help. I tried holding the throttle steady till the computer "took control". No help, even if I hold the throttle for a minute, when released speed will drop 5mph then pick back up. 2) CHECK THIS - after bike is properly cruising on its own I tap the accel button, bike SLOWS DOWN 5mph THEN ACCELS 6mph. 3) if I tap the "coast" button, the bike slows down 5mph, the accels 4mph. I talked to service manager of dealer where I bought the bike used. He said it sounded like a cable adjustment, and "adjustments" were not covered under warranty, only "parts failure". He did offer to call Yamaha on Monday though. We will see!! I would not think cruise controls adjustments a "typical maintenance adjustment" like tire pressure, oil level, brake pads, etc. Who has had this problem, how was it corrected, and was it warranty?
  15. After installing a Stebel air horn. My bike cranks w/o hitting the start button. Prior to adding the horn we had to have a "before" sound. Key was on and start was hit instead of horn and the chasis ground arked. Testing done so far: Start switch, Relay, Kick stand safety, clutch switch. HELP!!!!!! I have no idea where to go from here HELP
  16. Today I was surfing at the chryslerminivan forum and noticed a feature button that I thought was nice to have. It is a "Thanks" button. So many wonderful people provide much needed information on Venturider site I thought it would be nice to have a thanks button here also. The minvan forum appears to use the same proggie as Venturider. Here is the link to show how they applied it. http://forum.chryslerminivan.net/showthread.php?t=2346 The button only shows up when you are logged in as a member next to the "Quote button". But the list of Thank You's shows even when not logged in.
  17. When I push on the start button of my 1990 Yamaha Venture I usually hear "click" and nothing else. Most of the time the engine will start after I push the start button two or three times. Do you have any idea of what the problem may be? (The battery seems good.) Thanks. Maurice.
  18. Hi guys, My 87 VR is missing the front mute button and the #2 radio station button. All those little rectangular buttons appear to be the same, including the tuner and front and rear remote units. Of course, the buttons are not available separately. Does anyone out there have a broken radio off one of these bikes, that you would be willing to part with so I could try to swap buttons? Thanks, Jeremy
  19. I'm not to smart when it comes to electronics, but logic tells me that this should be possible. I have an 85 VR with the radio\cassette, and intercom but no CB. I also have a Uniden Pro 510xl CB with a Mic-Master 'hands free' mic attachment that gives me the push to talk button. (these are used by truckers, mic on the ear, PTT on the gear shift, and takes the place of the mic on the CB). Can I wire all this into the bike amp to make it work through the intercom speakers and mic?
  20. Went to start my bike this morning, turned the key, hit the start button and nothing! Neutal light is on, and the headlight dimmed as I hit the start button. Does anybody have any ideas before I shell out $300 for a new starter motor? Thanks
  21. You know the little rubber boot for the odometer, well actually, trip meter reset button? Mine is falling apart, which it seems will allow water into the gage assy which seems not good! It's not separately available, according to the parts fish. What have you guys done to fix that, or is water entry not really harmful? Thanks, Jeremy
  22. I guess I need an electrical wizard here. Horns we barely working. I tried adjusting the screw on the back, nuttin worked. I purchased two new units, described by the manufacturer as loud and annoying, they even came with ear plugs. Cleaned up all the connections , and put them on. They work, not annoying and not loud. The headlight does dim when you push the button. I tried spraying the horn button with cleaner(contact ) , still the same. Help................... joe
  23. The handlebar starter button seems slow to pop back out when I release it. Is that normal or can I spray some sort of electric contact cleaner on the button to free it up? Thanks
