  1. Has anybody replaced the passenger headset connection? I bought the Bike used so don't know but it looks like it got caught in the rear wheel and was pulled off. I Generally work on my own stuff but this time I took it to the Stealer for repair. After taking it to them I think I know more than they do. OK here is my question.... To replace this cord do you have to replace the passenger volume control and CB talk button or does it unplug before or at the button controls? I unpluged the connection on top of the rear fender and it works to that point. thanks in advance for any help.
  2. :whistling:I came off the money yesterday and replaced the original battery that came new in my 04 Silverado. I just realized it had been in there for 8 years and still cranking.Just begining to notice slow turnovers in cold weather so I replaced it. I want to be ready. You never know when one might hit the buy it now button on ebay and have to make a trip somewhere after a good First Gen. Like Baltimore,Florida,Arkansas,North Carolina, Maine, Pittsburg, Michigan etc.
  3. I could have sworn I posted this, but I can't find it anywhere. I must be getting old! Does anyone have a 1st Gen radion button they want to part with? My 84 is missing the intercom volume button & it's really driving me nuts. Let me know. Appreciate the help.
  4. I need some help with my latest project. I have purchased two new Nolan N-com helmets, and installed the J&M 279 speaker/mic setup. I have never used a setup like this, but I expected to be able to listen to the stereo, and then, when I wanted to talk to the passenger, (or the passenger wanted to talk to me) push the push to talk button (which I thought would cut the stereo) and talk on the Intercom. However, when everything is plugged in and turned on, the stereo plays fine, but the intercom is also on all the time. The stereo does not "mute" (maybe it isn't supposed to?). Pushing either push to talk button has no effect. We can both talk over the music and hear each other. But, since the intercom is on all the time, the mic also picks up motor and wind noise and transmits it through the intercom, making the intercom useless while driving. HYPOTHESIS: I am guessing that one of the push to talk buttons is shorted out, or one of the intercom button wires is shorted somewhere. I'm also guessing that the intercom buttons close the circuit that should be open except when the button is pushed??? If the circuit is close all the time and the button opens the circuit, then something could just be unplugged. Please tell me how the intercom is supposed to work. Is it supposed to cut the stereo when the push to talk button is pushed, or is it supposed to work in the background of the music. Do you think there is a short somewhere, and if so, is there a common place that this would occur; where should I start looking? Thanks, in advance. dana
  5. I feel embarassed asking this because it's probably staring at me right in the face. I search the forum but found nothing, hence the embarrassment. My 84 Royale has the factory radio, no CB. The controller has an intercom button, so I assume the system is compatable with standard din headphones...but where do they plug in?? Andy
  6. Just ordered the leveling links from diamond r, she said they would be on friday. Can't wait to try them. Only thing is I have the 130 tyre on the front, hope its not to quick till I can get a 150.For a month now when I press the starter button, the lights dim and I can here the starter relay click. After I press it several times it starts right like nothing is wrong. RSV is an 07. Do you think it is the battery, starter button, or starter switch ? tew47
  7. The stock horn works good. Installed a set of Stebel Electric horns on the existing wires and they work good. I installed a relay 30 to Horn 87 to Battery 85 to Ground 86 to Horn Button. When I turn the key on the horn goes off without me pressing the horn button. This is how I determined which of the origional black horn button I would hook to the horn button. I turned the key on and used a troubleshooting light and found the wire that lights up. I took that wire and hooked it to 86. After thinking about the 86 wire I asked why the horn wire is hot without pressing the horn button. I doubled check both sets of horn wire and sure enough when the key is on one wire from each set is hot. This would then activate the relay when the key is on Shouldn't that wire only be hot when the horn button is pressed? What do I look at?
  8. Can we get an 'edit' button in the RESTAURANT forum. It would be helpful when if we should happen to make multiple posts, or if an establishment should go out of business or change their quality of food. Personally, I now have 3 posts for one place (took about 3 minutes for the post to process, and the post button continued to work) and 2 places that have lost their status of excellence, and one place has closed. So I need to EDIT.
  9. Hello one of the guys I ride with has a 97 royal star, he has started having an intermittant ignition problem. we will be running down the road then bike dies. stop turn switch of then on hit start button off we go. there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the distance or the heat. Anyone had this problem? got any ideas? thanks!
  10. Lost my push to talk button for the passenger cb remote. I checked some parts diagrams and it doesnt seem to list the button itself just the whole remote for around 430.00 or so....dont think so Tim! Any ideas out there?
  11. Bike was in the shade at work all day under a carport. when i fired it up and pressed the info button this is what it read.
  12. Some of the buttons on my radio were getting little flaky. Also I was having trouble manually tuning the radio. I did some searching here and found that the buttons were pretty easy to get to. I ordered a bunch of buttons on line. They were only a few cents a piece. Taking the radio apart was a breeze and soldering in the new buttons was just as easy. Replacing all of the buttons took less than an hour. The problem was that the manual tuning and memory buttons still didn't work. I found that by tapping the handlebar mounted module, the manual tuning buttons on the radio would work. The radio scan button was gunked and worn out. I took the module apart and replaced the scan button as well as the CB tuning buttons. Nothing to it and now everything works like new!

Just bought a 2000 Royal Star Venture. Everything works like a dream. Only issue that I seem to have is that the CB will not come on. When I push the CB button, nothing happens. Anything jump out that I might need to check first before I bring it to the dealer? Does the CB have separate fuses? Thanks, Jason
  14. A couple of months ago I got an 83 Venture Royal project. When I first got it it would turn over slowly. I've had the battery out while I've been working on other things. Now when I try and start her everything dies when I hit the starter button and I need disconnect the battery to get it back. Is there anything I should check before I remove the starter? Is there a way I can do and initial check on the starter before I remove it from the bike? I know enough about electrical systems to be dangerous. I’m in school at Washtenaw

  16. Hello All. Thanks for taking a look. Little history first, 83 VR. Less thank 6k miles. New to me. Has spent the better part of its life sitting in a yard. So far, I have: Pressure washed Full carb overhaul Bleed the clutch Re soldered the CLASS thingy Changed spark plugs Checked gas tank for rust Some other odds and ends not related After getting my carbs finally done. Put em back on and it ran. Much improved than before. I have not synced yet. The tach is non responsive. I rev it up. It goes down. Let off it goes back up. Thought it was strange. Bike will not rev up past *k RPM. I do know that #1 is getting a spark when I push the starter button. Then as soon as it starts, the spark goes away. Of coarse I am letting off the button when it does start. However, if I tap the button while it is running I can see it get a spark. I know I should not do that. But it was a thought. If I hit the kill switch, I can see a weak spark. If I turn the IGN. switch off, I swear I see a weak spark again. I have checked the plug cap. It was clean. The place it mates with the wire was slightly corroded and loose. I have since cut off till I got good wire and reinstalled with no effect. As I type this its 26*. Its a bit cold to go dealing with it much. I have not checked out anything else. I plan to take the right hand controls apart and clean it. I also plan to check out the fuse holder on the bat. What else should I look at? And how should I do it? I was under the impression that coils either work, or dont. Is it safe to assume that? If she needs a new TCI, I will have to move on. I do not want to give up that easy, but buying a used on on eBay looks out of the picture. Michael
  17. Has anyone had a problem with their radio not wanting to search for channels manually? Mine worked when I bought it last month, now when I hold the up/down button for longer than 2 seconds it just goes to the next preset station instead of searching for stations. Thanks Mongo
  18. we went to look at a 2003 venture ...turn key everything turn ons ...press button to start button and nothing ??? is it a burnt fuse?
  19. today i took the bike out for a warm up ride. i let it warm up its running rough. must have had the winter blues? anyways i just drove up the block to an old abandon grocery store and drove around the parking lot. huge lot. i rode around for about an hour. just getting the feel of the bike again and with this knee brace on the left leg. well i stopped the bike. got off and went around back to take care of some personal buisness. went and tried to start the bike. starter turned over slow like a bad battery? battery showed it was low on the green down below 12? well i went oh crap. my car is just down the road a block. i will go and get the battery booster out of the storage shed. then i thought well i drink my gatoraide before i slow walk down there. well after about 15 minutes i said let me try it again. turned on the switch. hit the starter button and vroom it started. but im hearing a strange noise? not sure if its the starter or the water pump? a whirrrrrrrrrrr noise? thought the starter button was stuck. but recalled i replaced the whole throttle and starter button with a nice working one. just before i put the bike up for storage. oh i bought a new battery just before i out it away too. and will need to do the sensor mod. have to figure out how to do that after installing skydocs fuse panel. anyways what could it be?
  20. This thread might get moved and if so I apologize in advance. I bought my 2004 Midnight RSV in November of 2010. I have done considerable work to it just to get it where I want it to be. However that being said, the small, black push to talk button that is on the passengers intercom control is missing. I have no idea where to look to get a replacement. The PTT still works, it's just the button that is missing. If anyone knows where I can get one, has a part number or even may have a spare one sitting unbeknownst in a junk draw or jar hanging in there garage somewhere I would pay you for it along with the shipping. Thank you in advance Chris in Red Deer, Alberta
  21. Looking for a fix for the passanger push to talk button on an 07. Any ever lose one?

  24. I installed my new starter this afternoon--she fired right up!!!---BUT!---It sounds like my starter is still trying to stay engaged--the last starter was ruined when the Starter Button became stuck while I was starting it and I didn't notice it was stuck until the damage was done----I freed the starter button and it seems to be working ok---My question is--Has anyone had this problem and do you think it would be best to replace the starter button assembly while I'm this deep into it?.......................Larry:confused07:
  25. I just got my tach-gauge set-up from Ponch. Looks great, and looking forward to getting it installed. I'm thinking of making a change in it though. I looked at this digital voltmeter: http://www.digitalmeter.com/cgi-bin/...nfig=ent-datel I'd like to mount that where Ponch has the cruise button. My plan was to mount the cruise button somewhere else (in the dash, bottom edge of the dash, inner fairing, I'm not sure). I'd like to add the voltmeter to the gauge cluster, and I don't need to SEE the cruise button, just be able to reach it. Normally, I turn the cruise on when I start the bike, and not touch the button again. Only rarely do I turn it off, mostly when I'm riding in the dark and the cruise dash lights get a bit annoying. My question now is: Can that on-off switch be wired around and just let the cruise be on full time? The cruise control button on the handlebars does all the actual controlling of the cruise. I'm pretty sure my car and pickup cruise is on every time I start the vehicle, unless I choose to turn it off. Could the bike be the same way? The on-off switch is a bit more than on-off. 3 positions, off, on(to turn it on), and the central position that apparently doesn't turn it on, but keeps it on once it's been turned on. One possibily would be to find a simpler smaller switch that could be located mostly out of sight but within easy reach as you ride. Any thoughts, or outright know-how, on this idea?? Larry
