  1. Ok, I give up... where's the fuse located for the 12 v cigarette lighter plug? Interestingly enough the fuse box itself is not mentioned in the official Yamaha manual. What's up with that..... thanks
  2. The thread on burning coal got me to thinking. By now you should all know that is dangerous. My house was built in 1886, it is a small 2 story with a 12 12 pitch roof so there is a good size attic. It is getting real close to time to replace the roof. Right now the only thing still using the chimney is the gas hot water heater in the basement. That water heater is around 25 years old so I am thinking of replacing it with a direct vent type so that nothing is using the chimney. I would like to then take down the chimney so that the new roof can cover the old chimney hole in the peak of the roof. My question is; In these old houses did they use the chimney as a structural member? Or can I just take it down and only have to do some wall and floor patching. It sure would be nice to get that space back in the kitchen and the hall where you have to turn sideways to squeeze past the chimney and it is impossible to get a box spring or anything else with a dimension of more than 20 inches into the bedroom at the end of the hall. That eliminates most dressers and beds. with the chimney gone it will be a 40 inch wide hall and room to swing the corner with even a king size box spring. Anyone ever do a chimneyectomy on an old house?
  3. Looking for one of these, the box, bracket and the bolt. I'd like to make a sw box out of it. If you have one let me know what you would want for it.
  4. My sargent just returned from a trip in southern Ohio....Guess what he brought back for me.......a five lb. box of.......................................................wait for it..................................."RIBET"
  5. i was thinking about a magnetic tank bag. i was going to mount three plates of metal to the underside of my false tank cover. but then, got to thinking, i remounted the tci to the air box. will the magnets mess with it? any thoughts? has anyone tried this?
  6. Stopped by the local Yamaha shop and they had a Supere Tenere' on the floor. Got a chance to sit on it, stand it up, look it over really close. The owner (who I know) came over to chat and answer questions. Oh My, is that a nice bike. 1200 cc of adventure riding goodness. The owner offered to let me take it for a ride. I declined realizing that would be real trouble for me. I can't afford the alimony (and we have two kids in college and two more that are high school seniors - next year is going to be REALLY expensive). Most, if not all, the farkles are released for this model since the Tenere' has been in Europe for a couple of years. And Then to Top It Off...... I get home and there is a box on the porch from Touratech!!. My lock and cable for the Garmin 276C mount arrived. Included in the box was the TT catalog with all the Tenere' stuff. Mmmmmmm, tasty. This may be a problem. RR
  7. On the right side of my fairing where the air pump control is the box is busted up beyond repair. Does anyone have this part they want to sale?????
  8. I have looked at everything more times than I care to admit, but my faux tank cover simply will not lock into place with the TCI mounted on top of the air cleaner box. The a/c box is properly and fully seated, the carbs are full seated into their boots, and with the TCI on top of the a/c, there is just not enough room for the cover to be mounted. So, I am going to return both the TCI and the boost sensor to the stock location. What a waste of time. But learn something new everyday. Atleast I found my b/s wasn't working at all.
  9. I wanted to save some of my PMs to folders for later reference. I started with the IN box and created the files I wanted and moved the messages. Cool....no problem. I went back to my SENT box and found I was not able to move the messages from there. I assumed that the folders would be shared but I guess not. I can not find a way to create folders for my SENT PMs or move them. There is no "Move to Folder" selection buttom in the lower right hand corner on the SENT window. What am I missing here? Mike
  10. Are there supposed to be any little holes that look like drill holes in the sides of the air cleaner box? I think I have about 4 or 5 of them. I didn't do it. They are in the filter area. If not, what is a good way to plug them? Duct tape? lol
  11. The trunk box on my 2010 suddenly will not open more than about 4 inches. It seems like i is getting hung up on the support rod. Any ideas?
  12. This is the first time trying to post pics, so here goes. I bought this trailer from a guy who builds fiberglass roadster bodies. He did a good job of the box( its the trunk of the roadster but reversed) . But the frame was a mess, so I had to redo that. I also did some rewiring, and the stainless steel fenders from some scrap I had kicking around. The box is 3' long, 2' wide, and 2' high at the back. If you can't tell by the pics you load it through the little door in the back.
  13. Got the rear coil pair relocated. There wasn't room for them up front any more due to the repositioned battery box. They look close to head and they are, less than an inch above. But this was the best I could come up with. Other decent spot put them close to the rear header pipes. This takes care of the main relocation of the parts at least. Battery box post is at link, if you want to see it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58658 Gary
  14. I received my renewal notice email on the 14th of this month (six days ago). Been on the run for the last few days and haven't had a chance to renew or return to the site. So tonight I tried to check in and had a red banner across the top saying that my trial membership would expire in 1123 days. Also noticed that my welcome box said my Private Message box was full. Even though that little box at the bottom of the page said I could reply, edit and post, when I tried to post something I got the screen that I didn't have the proper permissions to perform this action. OK I get the hint...Logged out and sent in my dues. Now all is right with the world. My only thought is "less than Six Days and you're shut off? And for a returning 4 year membership? Geese, new members get more slack than that.
  15. I logged in to my ebay. I like to just look around so I try to choose "motorcycles" but a drop box comes down forcing me to pick a specific brand?? I dint want a specific brand I want to browse through everything. Since the motors selection box went to the Grey highlighted look this change took place. Anyone else seeing this?? So the menu bar from my ebay now will not allow you to choose just automobiles, or just motorcycles. You have to use the drop down box next to SEARCH to be able to just browse . Not a huge deal, but different to get used to.
  16. A man called home to his wife and said, "Honey, I have been asked to fly to Canada with my boss and several of his friends for fishing. We'll be gone for a long weekend. This is a good opportunity for me to get that promotion I've been wanting so could you please pack enough clothes for a 3 day weekend. And also would you get out my rod and tackle box from the attic? We're leaving at 4:30 pm from the office and I will swing by the house to pick my things up. Oh! And please pack my new navy blue silk pajamas..” The wife thought this sounded a bit odd, but, being the good wife, she did exactly what her husband asked. Following the long weekend he came home a little tired, but, otherwise, looking good. The wife welcomed him home and asked if he caught many fish? He says, “Yes! Lots of Walleyes, some Bass, and a few Pike.” Then he asked: “But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do?” You'll love the answer... The wife replied, "I did. They're in your tackle box". Never, Never, Never try to outsmart a woman!!!
  17. I am looking for the part number for the air hose from the crankcase to the breather box, which would be the larger hose.(back center of box) All diagrams I found only show one hose, which is the smaller one in the frone right corner. Can anyone help:fingers-crossed-emo Oh, I have an 84 VR. thanks
  18. :no-no-no: After getting the RSV midnight back together, well almost back together. Still have to change the rear tire, pull and lube the drive shaft. Any how I decided to do a little cleaning. I had just picked up Turtle wax's Black Box. This is a wax that is made just for black paint and is advertised to do away with cob web aka very fine scratches in the clear coat. Well to make a long story short. IT DOES NOT DO THE JOB! It was a process you had to follow, several step and when all done I had more cob web then what I had when I started. So I guess I'll be getting the buffer back out and the Hi Tech Yellow wax.
  19. I have this little black box hooked into my headlight wires. It is an obvious aftermarket, or add on. It simple is a 2 wire little black something with no name on it, the two wires go from this llittle box to the ground and I think high beam power wire at the headlight. It has scotch lock style fasteners so I know it is not factory. Just cannot imagine how something that has nothing but 2 wires coming out of it "tagged onto" the headlight wires does anything, but I know its not put there for looks LOL Again the headlight wires are NOT cut and this thing put in as something the power is running through, it is simply tagged into the wires by use of scotchlocks which I do not like.
  20. The little box with all the info. Time left in game, what down, yards to go, score and all that. It only shows on the edge of my screen. Can only see about a third of it. WHY??
  21. I have a 1985 VR with the large top box. I bought a black backrest on ebay, but, it is for the smaller top box. Anyone need a very nice black backrest?
  22. :Happy Birthday: :Happy Birthday: Hope you get a ride in for you're big day. Muffin want's to know if you've had any Jack n the box lately? Have a great day and a wonderful year ahead. Margaret & Jeff
  23. I've got to admit, I'm not a huge fan of TV shows today. Not a lot on that interests me. Honestly.....I gave up on cable long ago and only bought a converter when they dropped the broadcasting. (Under threats from my daughter) I turned the idiot box on the other night and flipped through the channels. Nope.....nuttin worth watching. So.....I got to thinking I can not be the only one that wants to beat the box to death and make some extra room for something useful. Like inhouse parking for my bike. So rather than wreck havoc with a sledge hammer I decided to try to change the programming of what we see. Thought I toss it into the bull pen and see what other folks might want. Dancing with the stars ........ not good. I read an article a while back that a man took a shotgun to his TV during that show. I'm sorry, but I understood that feeling. But then again he pointed the shotgun at his wife also. Again...over the top but hey, I can understand that also. She probably was holding the remote. Now they have spun that off into "Ice Skating with the Stars". Ok. Not working for me either. One of my ideas that I want to summit is this. Let's add a twist to "Ice Skating with the Stars" ok. Pair the professionals ice dancers up the professional hockey players. See where I'm going with this? Make it interesting....add some excitement....throw in a lil danger! I'm thinking this would be a popular show. So anyone have an idea for a new show? (I haven't ridden in two weeks, so forgive me) Mike
  24. 07 wing w/air bag has a "glove box" on the left side for small items. Well I got my phone charrger in there the gate keys and what not. I also put my ID in there so it is easy to get to when getting on Base every day. Well lately the lid has been sticking. anyone have this trouble and how did you fix it?
  25. I have 7 new in box HP ink tanks HP #10 Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. I no longer have the printer that these were for. First person to pay the shipping for a USPS medium flat rate box can have them for free. If not they are soon headed for the land fill. I was cleaning over the weekend and they got in my way once to often. You won't find these at a price much better than this.
