  1. I am switching from the OEM grips to ISO grips from Kuryakin. Left side was a breeze. Is there any secret to accessing the screws on the throttle body housing? Seems like the faring is in the way of getting a screwdriver in there with leverage.
  2. I know and have seen where enterprizing folks have converted Honda Valkyrie's to feul injection even one with multi-port injection, but mostly to throttle body FI and most were supercharged also, if its possible on the valkyrie why not on the RSV. Why can't we make a manifold and use a single side draft throttle body with proper CFM and fuel flow. Point out all the problems to me. Gregg
  3. My wife and I were comming back from Aiken SC this morning. We had a truck in front of us kick up a bunch of rock laying on the road. We got hit with some of them and one punctured the radiator. Does any body have a radiator for a 2003 royal star midnight venture laying around. We are grounded till we get another radiator.
  4. Sadly, my mother-in-law recently passed way due to lung cancer. She wanted to donate her body to science, but she was rejected, due to the cancer. It came to me to do the final arrangements and did I ever get an awakening into this business. She wanted a cremation with no service, as inexpensive as possible. When contacting funeral homes I was quoted in the $3600 to $4000 range. But there are "burial services" out there that do the same job for $1300 to $1600. We go with an outfit called Tranquility that had NO pressure sales, nice to deal with and just over $1300 for everything. In the meantime, I receive a letter from Bay Gardens, stating that although my mother did pay for the "group package" when my father died,($5000 back in '94) which included everything for my father and then my mother when she passes, one part was omitted and if we wish to save $$ on the future HST tax, we can pay now. I call and ask about this "missing part" and it is the transporting of the body from the nursing home (her current residence) to Bay Gardens for cleaning, and then across the street to the crematorium. For this they want $2000!! I was stunned, told them wait we already paid for the package but I was assured that this was STRICTLY for the transporting of the body. When I asked about Tranquility doing the whole thing for $1300 his answer was they treat the body with dignity .... WTF??? So, I go to pick up my mother-in-laws remains and the guy at Tranquility hands me the box, on top is a receipt of the contents from ...... BAY GARDENS. Seems they contract out the jobs to Tranquility anyway!! Talk about a scam .... And everybodies make a profit here too. Then I start telling the guy at Tranquility about my mum and what a scam these crooks are pulling, when he suggests that since I have paid for the cremation, opening and closing of the niche already with Bay Gardens, I can use their services and instead of $1300 it will only be $800. Versus $2000 with BG! Boy, did I enjoy that call to the smarmy crook at Bay Gardens telling him about the "change of plans". When we originally looked into donating the mother-in-law to science, there is a charge, the transporting of the body ..... the REAL fee $170! Whoa eh? And one last note: Every look through the obits and see those crooks advertising their funeral home right in the persons obit? Thats because the low lifes have said they'll write the obit for the family, plunk in their logo and stick the family with the bill for their advertising. Bottom feeders - IMO:mad: Thanks for letting me rant .... feels better already. I already told the wife when I die to put me on an ice floe and send me out. If I happen to go in the summer, throw me in the freezer for a week, ice should be back by then!
  5. Okay, stupid question, I had a couple bolts fall off the scooter and I'm trying to go through the parts list to find the replacments. I can't for the life of me remember what the name is for the venture, you know like fjr1300 or fbz 1300 or ? any body know off the top of your head? I'm trying to find short bolts that hold the rear trunk up on the rear fender. Thanks in advance LLoyd
  6. had my radio taken out and sent in to claireon does any body know about how long it takes to get it back:icon_smile_question
  7. I just paid a guy $400 for his 83 Royale with 59,000 miles on it. He wanted $500 - offered him $400 and he jumped on it! I was going to offer less but we jumped it and it started right up. He said the clutch needed bled but wasn't sure. The seat has duct tape - rust on some of the chrome - could use a paint job (son does body work) - but has newer tires and seems to run good. He said 2nd gear just started to act up. Anyway - I figure for the money - it is good entertainment!
  8. I have running lights on my 2004 RSV I damage the ring that goes around the light that holds it together. Does any body have one that I could buy here are some pictures of what I need or do you know were I can get one.
  9. Im starting some serious spring cleaning on my First Gen and having trouble getting some of the covers/body pieces off so I can clean under them. Before I go all "He-Man" on them and break something....I thought I'd ask, "is there a guide somewhere on how all the covers and false tank and body covers come off?" Otherwise I'm afraid I will be posting asking whats the best epoxy to use? Any advice would be welcome!
  10. So who does a guy go to when he's built a custom rig like a trike or sidecar and needs a fiberglass body or shell made for it? Are there some tricks or simple equipment for the DIY'er so he can doe it himself? I've been putting a lot of thought into building a Tri-Car using my 83 VR and a VW engine and trans-axle. I'm sure I could put it together, but have no idea how to make fiberglass body panels. Any advice?
  11. putting tri-wing trike kit on my venture, going decently , some holes are being modiftyed, too tight to work without some mods but doing it at friends body shop so I got anything I need. guess which is at end off day.
  12. Saw a couple on a Red and Raven 2nd Gen today in BellVille Texas around 1630 or so...any body here?????? Great day for a ride!!
  13. Ok, I have not posted a thread for a while, so how is this? If you got a tattoo, what would it be and where would it be on your body? I hope this is not too personal. Yama Mama
  14. Some have asked me on how I built the BEERCART . I searched through my photos and was able to come up with these . I may have more , but these should explain enough . First I started with the floor , made of 7/16" OSB plywood . I built a box and ribs of same material . While constructing the internal box and ribs , I used screws to fasten them together and also made in such a way that when the time came , I could take apart and remove after I fiberglassed the body . In this first 4 photos , I had already laid the floor , constructed the inner framework and ribs . I then laid layers of 1/2 foam board on which I cut into widths that would maintain a thickness that when I sanded/molded , it would still hold it's rigidity . I used Elmer's glue and 3" drywall screws to secure the layers . I used a belt sander with 50 grit and a larger wasp to shape the mold . http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT1.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT2.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT3.jpg In these next photos , I needed to be able to maneuver the mold to work around . So I placed a pipe through the mold to form an axis and made a stand to form a rotisserie likeness to spin the mold to work much easier . Also at the time of when the photos were taken , I had already proceeded to my next step in the mold shaping of finer lines at which I used drywall compound to smooth out the body lines and to define the shape of the BEERCART . There was a large amount of hand sanding at this stage ! http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT6.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT8.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT9.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT10.jpg The pictures show above is what I believe was the funnest of all the steps it took to build the BEERCART . Because at this time I was able to express on how I wanted the BEERCART to become . It was also a challenge not only to form the mold , but to balance each side to mirror itself . Although I know that I did not exactly match each side to be a perfect match from one side to the other , I know I got pretty darn close for a homemade project . Now I did not get photos of the next step , but I can explain it to you very simply . After I finished "all" the modeling , I used latex house paint to paint the mold on which I used at least 2 heavy coats of paint . For the reason of that fiberglass resin would dissolve the foam that I used to make the mold . This paint became a barrier between the chemical reaction which would occur such as pouring gasoline in a Stryo-foam cup . After the paint dried , I applied a generous coat or 2 of Turtle Wax . This became the release agent that would allow me to take the mold apart after fiberglassing . We do not want the fiberglass to bond with the mold , as we will be removing the mold eventually . Fiberglassing : There are numerous websites that will show you what you need and how to apply . I was fortunate to have some experience and also help from a friend whom builds boats . On the BEERCART , I used multiple layers of fiberglass matting and cloth . I applied the fiberglass in strips and layers to eventually form an 1/4" wall throughout the construction . In some places I either applied more for bracing and/or sheer strength . Here is a photo after we glassed the BEERCART and removed the mold . It has a greenish tint to it because of the Turtle Wax we used as a release agent . http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT11.jpg Removing the mold . ; After we glassed the BEERCART , I started unfastening the inner box , then the ribs , and then prying out the foam .. Then I used sandpaper to scuff up and remove the release agent and wipe away with an acetone rag . After we removed any of the waxes from the release agent , we started on filling and body work . Filling ad sanding , filling and sanding until we gained a smooth prime finish . http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT12.jpg Meanwhile and to take a break from the bodywork , I started on the trailer frame . I used thick wall 2"x2" aluminum square tubing . I did a layout on plywood , then cut the tubing to match the layout . I used 500 lb torsion axles on the BEERCART . After all the cutting , we weld the aluminum tubing . It took me 45 minutes to cut the frame pieces and 3 hours of welding . http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT13.jpg After the frame was all welded , we went back to the body . Just like in the auto repair body shop , we prepped the BEERCART , primed and then painted . We finally assembles the frame and body and then added accents , lights , mags/tires , undercoating , and other bells and whistles . http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT16.jpg http://www.meangene.us/beercart/MCT20.jpg To say to this date , the BEERCART is still not finished . I am constantly adding new bells and whistles . I added a linear actuator with remote to open the hatch this past summer . I plan on adding an extra fuel cell to help extend my range . Wife says I still need to add the satellite dish and Mailbox ! The BEERRCART is 45" wide , 6' long with 3' tongue . Weighs approx 190 lbs dry and pull great . I have pulled it approx 33 K so far without any issues other than having to reposition my load now and then . Total cost in materials have run me an estimated $900.00 and about 5/6 months of fun in labor . But keep in mind that I did get a few Good Buddy deals along the way . I may have missed a few step explaining the process in building the BEERCART , but I think you can fill in the voids . If not ask away , will be more than happy to explain . BEER30 .

  20. Hi everybody--I sure enjoy learning from all of you as my '83 is now running like a watch. It was a basket case project and now the puzzle of mounting the body parts. Does anyone have pictures or send me to a resource that shows how the panels are mounted to the frame?? Thanks in advance. Hank

  23. Does anybody know if the body parts for all 1st Gen. years are interchangeable? Specifically the fairing and side cover pieces. I have an '86 1300 and was wondering if pieces from an 83-85 1200 will fit it? Thanks.
  24. It takes your food seven seconds to get from your mouth to your stomach. One human hair can support 3 kg (6 lb). The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb. Human thighbones are stronger than concrete. A woman's heart beats faster than a man's. There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet. Women blink twice as often as men. The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain. Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still. If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it. Women reading this will be finished now. Men who read this are probably still busy ch ecking their thumbs.
  25. http://www.roadstercycle.com/yamaha_vmax_fuel_injector_cv_car.htm Cheaper than the WIldbros conversion. http://www.wildbros.com/EFI.html I wonder if you could use this carb to throttle body conversion in junction with the Wildbros FMM electronics.
