  1. Good Morning Everyone! I'm about to ride the Blue ridge 2 up on my 08 RSV. I was wondering if anyone would suggest to me what I should check over before I go. I presently have 10K on the bike and will be riding about 1200 miles. Thank you for your suggestions. Frank
  2. Had a day off today so I took the old girl out for a ride. Was out for about an hour riding along the coast of Palm Beach on A1A. It was a picture perfect day, blue skies, clear blue water along the beach. About thirty minutes into the ride I was practically soaked with sweat. I just don't recall it being so hot hear in south Florida. The winds were calm the seas were flat calm. Temperature was 93 humidity was also in the nineties. I really wanted to ride more but it was just too freaken hot!
  3. A Friend of mine told me that someone here makes up a cable to use with the headset for blue tooth. I have a Nuvi 760 and would like to use the blue tooth without having two separate cables and mikes to deal with. Can someone help with this? Thanks Chuck
  4. As most of you know, I have been laid up after my back surgery. Well, I am getting around a bit better now, and have been putting in the shop although I am still not allowed to officially work on motorcycles yet. I took a set of louvers from the side covers of my 87'VR and installed the Sheet Metal inserts I had gotten last year. (A BIG Thanks To Randy For The Inserts) I mounted a string of blue LED's in the inserts and put a back on them to protect the LED's from the heat and I also installed a string of blue LED's in the front air scoop as well. Take a look at the pics, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Earl
  5. Ron and I stopped at the Honda dealer today to look at the new Gold Wings. http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr340/whistl/RedGoldWing.jpg They had four of them. One was decked out will about all the chrome accessories you could get and it had a big array of LED's on it. It was $30,000 give or take a few:mo money: So we looked in the used or previously owned area and found an 07 Blue and Black Venture. It was $10,999. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mFsX2_n1RGc/SxDEWEA3v7I/AAAAAAAACDc/0sy0lw0q6eI/s400/royal2.jpg But then we came to our senses and drove home on our 99.http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a200/RonnieY/Newport%20Motorcycle%20Rally%202006/NewportRally2006036.jpg?t=1277775546 After all the other bikes did not have our neat flag on them. Yama Mama:smile5:
  6. I want to find a blue tooth head set that I can use and not wear a helmet does anyone know of any? Sometimes I wear a half helmet so I would need something that might be able to be used for both? thanks!!
  7. Anyone going to Americade next week. I will be there late Wed pm until Fri noon. Hearthstone point campground site 88. Or look for a blue and black RSTD with a blue fairing.
  8. I know this is off the wall..but curiousity has the best of me. For those that are, can u see the (color) blue led's on patrol vehicles or are there any other colors that would are more visible, like red or yellow? Forgive me for my ignorance on the subject...I was thinking of adding some yellow led's in addition to the blue lights to back of my unit for doing details on the interstate, etc.
  9. Well I am going to bring her home on Monday my new out of the crate 2008 RSTD blue over black. I will post pics when I get her home. :thumbsup2: Star4772
  10. I would like to change the color of the dash light (speedo, etc) to a blue light. Anyone have an idea if this is a reasonable effort? I think that it would look nice. I also want to find out if it's possible to find the correct replacement bulb in blue, before beginning such a project. Has anyone seen this light changed-out before or does anyone know what specific bulb I want to use for this? Thanks! Pete.
  11. go to their User CP (link in bottom blue line at top of page) and, click on the "edit your details" link (in the blue box at the left). Then under "Custom User Title" list the year and model of the bike(s) you own. This will post the year and model of your bike in all of your posts. This makes it easier, when you post a problem, for the people to know whether you're talking about a 1st gen. or a 2nd gen. Thanks all!
  12. Okay, I'm repainting my RSV. I really like the red of the H@nda GW. But now I was at this meeting, and there I saw a blue and red standing together. And I was very charmed of the blue one too. So here is my question, has anyone a picture o a dark-blue RSV? I searched om this forum, but that is really very time consuming. thanks in advance
  13. Well as I told Rocket, I was in need of a new gasket for the 83 Venture. While I was at the Yamaha dealer Pro-Am Motor-Sports here in Calgary, I received the part and I was on my way out. Something caught my eye(monthly payments 238.00:doh:) there in the pile of new bike there she was, Blue and silver accents hard bags big wind screen big v twin a 1300XVS13CTYL BLUE I asked Kerry the owner ( nice people here) the story about the bike he said this is a demo but he has one in the box, mind you this is an 09 model. So I saw the sticker on her and it had been discounted 3 times so I thought this would be a great time to Camel trade on the price. the original Canadian price wes @ 13,000.00 it was discounted to 10,899.00 well he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse it was out the door not including lic,& Ins. 11790.25 Nice..(pending finance with 5,000.00 down) Well today I'm ok with the finance. Get her Friday. WhoWho!! So I'm the new Owner of the big v twin. I'm keeping the Venture and will remain a stout participate on the best bike forum next to the BMW of America's forum so Holy cow I bought a new bike. Now any break in or radio accessories ideas would be nice, Rocket, we got to meet after lockdown. Timmie's in Redriver or call.. Thanks to all Mike R. in Calgary..pics next week:photographing:

  16. Warden claims I don't need any more 1st Gens?? Caught me looking at that BLUE one!! Just can't understand that!!!
  17. I made a guage plate at work. Designed it at home using Cimatron E8.5 design software. Programmed it at work using WorkNc 17. I matched the contour of the dash and also the recess that was below the tape deck door. Came out pretty nice. I am going to polish it and probably have it anodized dark blue to match the Galaxy Blue of the bike. I am also adding a tach to the right handle bar. I have it designed, just waiting for a machine to open up to cut the housing and clamp. I will post pics as the project progresses.
  18. The Blue Ridge Park Way July 2009. About eight of us had the opportunity to make the trip. We started at Front Royal Skyline Drive Shenandoah National Park Virginia. Ended up at Cherokee, North Carolina. We stayed at all the Lodges. It's truly one adventure that we will never forget. Two nights at each lodge would be about right. There is so much to do up there. We went with about eight friends and they were great and a lot of fun. If you do get that chance to go, get the Blue Ridge Park Way Book. I know the trip is a little pricey, but it's worth it. *********************************************************************** Sorry for removing the video, Due to an e-mail from youtube saying I could be in trouble with Sony. It's a copyright Issue. (the music) so I removed it for now. I must be interupting their billion dollar industry. It was a cool video. 19. Charlene is devastated, I am mad beyond reason........I will give you the short version. As most of you that know Charlene, she has been waiting to have her back surgery now for over 2 years, it was scheduled for Mon. Jan, 4 2010. This morning at 10:45 am she gets a call from the Dr.'s office saying they have to cancel her surgery for reasons we still dont understand and agree with. The insurance company, Blue Cross Anthem faxed them and said they couldnt authorize it, the reason, new coverage, my company changed insurers, from BC/BS of Texas to Blue Cross Anthem. The coverage could not be verified before Jan. 1,(New Years Day). We just got all the info from them on Mon, Jan 28, so they got it as soon as we did. They are putting her file under medical review, could take up to 15 days or more to get it approved..........BC/BS had already authorized it and told us even though the coverage changed it wouldnt be a problem. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone this moring with both insurance companies and every time I got put on hold after about 5 minutes I got disconnected and had to call back and start all over and when I finally got to someone every story was different to no problem to just a small problem, to sorry nothing we can do at this time........the nurses that review the files will not talk to anyone so we couldnt get them on the line.......I am so fed up with Blue Cross if I could find an office I would likely do something I would regret. Charlene is taking it better than I am, but thats not saying much, everytime she tells someone about it she ends up crying. We had a lot of people that were going to help us out and now they have to put those plans on hold till we get the approval. I was supposed to be on vacation till the 18th of Jan, now I have to go back to work till they approve it and hope my company understands what is happening and will let me reschedule it........... Our HR person is going to get an earful from me because we were told everything was ok to proceed, so I will be spending a lot to time in her office on Monday till we get some resolution. Luckily I was able to go to the ABC store and get some adult beverage, cause I am going to need it............ All I can say is, if anyone else has Blue Cross Anthem, better be prepared to go to battle with them if you need something covered by them........this is the third time in 4 years our coverage has changed and everytime it keeps getting worse, for 2010 our deductable went up by 50% and our out of pocket expenses went up by 50%.................... Well this helped a little to vent....... Hope everyone else has a great New Year!!!!!
  20. Just wondering if it was anyone in here. I spotted a Blue RSTD with one of those small black tour packs near Mile 200 (when I passed you about 2 o'clock... I think) on Eastbound I-44 between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Anyhoot, great day for a ride down there
  21. ....I have been very humbled today as one of the nicest gestures in my life happened to Lonna and myself. I know that some of you have been following whats been going on with us and our trek to Houston. We have been delaying our departure due to my good friend Ron Gaskill being killed in an auto accident almost 2 weeks ago. We have been helping his wife and daughter get things in order and largely getting his '79 Electra Glide running so I could sell it for her. I wont be selling his Harley to anyone....because Nancy and Amanda gave me Ron's bike. This big fat bastard doesn't cry very easily or is speechless very often, but I did both this evening as they came out of the blue with Nancy's brother (who helped me get the bike fired up) and presented me with the paperwork to put the title in my name. I am very overwhelmed and dont feel worthy of such a piece of their family. I also know that besides Ron, there isn't anyone on the planet that would love this bike and bring it back into shape. So now I have 2 bikes, 1 Yamaha and 1 Harley....looks like I will be staying busy fixing antiques
  22. Has anyone ridden Hwy 60 called Morgantown Hwy from Dahlonega to Blue Ridge? I am headed up to Blue Ridge Thursday and usually go to Blairsville and take the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway to Blue Ridge. Looking at the map I thought this time I might take Hwy 60 and wondered if anyone had any experience on it?
  23. Have any of you all ever seen anything written up on Wally World's synthetic oil. Is it any good??? Its about $5-10 a gal cheaper than Mobil 1. Is doesn't come in a weight for the Ventures, but I use Rotella Blue for that anyway.
  24. Just finished splashing some paint on my 84. Still going to add pin stripe to out line the area of the origional two tone. Color is Teal Blue Metallic from 2002 Chevy. What do you guys think? http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/elagyrrep/IMG_1373.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/elagyrrep/IMG_1374.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd318/elagyrrep/IMG_1375.jpg
