  1. If you have attempted it please chime in. I am going to remove the dash and buy a replacement electroluminescent sheet that I can trim to fit for backlight on the instrument cluster. I am going to go with blue, just wondering if anyone has attempted this? If not then I guess Ill be the one to try it out....... I have an aftermarket tach that I am going to change out to matching blue light as well. The blue is easier on the eyes in my opinion as well as looks good when light.
  2. I just saw this about clearing the snow from the Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier Natl Park. The pic was taken 2 days ago, it looks like they have a long way to go to get the road passable, my ride through there less than a month might not happen..... Flikr seems to be having some issues allowing the preview pic to load, but just click the heading in the blue above the black video frame to have a look. There are several pics in there that make you realize just how much snow falls thathigh in the mountain passes, wow! 3. Not only has he helped purchase the '84 for Quickstep, he has pulled it apart and repaired the plastic. Quickstep jokes he wants a RED one, not a blue one........so what did Dave do on the weekend! God Bless my friend:clap2: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Alans%2084%20Rebuild/IMG_1165.jpg
  4. Here are a couple of pics as of last night. The trailer started out white (see my avatar) wanted to match the bike. Galaxie Blue/ Raven Black. The border pinstripe is a brighter charcoal than on the bike. I like it better, it does a better job of defining the blue and black. Working on my brother in-laws trailer too. His is going to be black to match his Midnight Venture. Now if it would just quit raining so I can finish the nose piece that houses the cooler.
  5. Purchased a 84 Venture that sat for two summers with sta-bil in the tank. The bike ran really rough, smoked, and wouldn't stay running unless the choke was on. I drained the carbs, ran some new gas through, put in new plugs, changed the and filter, and sync'd the carbs. The bike runs great... but its still smoking a little. It looks more white but it looks to have a blue tint also. I've only been up the street(1st, 2nd gear) and back so I havent ridden the bike anywhere. Where do I go from here? Thanks for any help.
  6. Is there a device that will perform a blue tooth interface between a blue tooth enabled cell phone and the stock intercom on 2nd Gen RSV?
  7. Hi all Houston crew, Planning a ride this weekend Saturday April 9th. The staging poing is going to be just down from the Doodles at the Waller County BBQ & Shell station on 362 & Hwy 290. Kickstands up by 10.00 am. The ride is going to end up 5 miles from College Station. It will be about 70 miles one way. Hopefully we will see some blue bonnets on the way & back Hullabaloo's has pretty good food. Here is a link to see whats on the menu. http://www.hullabaloodiner.com/ Hope Y'all can make it. Hal n Val
  8. Did someone from this forum participate with a blue Venture and a trailer? I found a post on the TexasCHLForum. http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=44239&sid=4e58e7cbd93475f19d1b40a455cf76f2
  9. Replaced the 70's style white wagon wheels with the red and blue pinstripe for some nice aluminum wheels. Now I just need to paint it galaxie blue and raven black to match the bike. Hopefully J-Bird will be at MD so he can pistripe it to match the bike. Let see some your trailers!

  13. I'm trying to figure out what everything is before replacing my fuse box (I ordered the kit SkyDoc sells in classifieds). I've got a couple of items that don't make sense to me and maybe you can help. First off, there's a device that's attached to both terminals. I suspect it might be a noise reducer or some such, but it would be nice if someone knows for sure. The other is a blue wire that terminates on the Batt. + and then is connected to a White/Red wire in the main harness behind (or in front of) the battery. I disconnected it from the battery and everything 'seems' to work OK. Again, I'd appreciate any input here... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n163/coy55boy/83%20Venture%20Royale/fusepanel.jpg
  14. While I had my fairing split to work on replacing my headlamp bulb and doing some cleaning and general maintenance, I removed my deflectors to clean them real good. I reinstalled them last night using a touch of Loc-Tite Blue on the phillips-head bolts and snugged them up without overtightening. This morning when I replaced the bulb and went to re-assemble the fairing, the deflectors literally fell off their mounts. It appears that the Loc-Tite disintegrated the ABS plastic protrusions that the screws mount into on the inner fairing. It's hard to describe, but the plastic turned to black crumbles. I've never seen anything like it. Has anyone ever experienced this with Loc-Tite Blue? My inner fairing will no longer be able to hold the deflectors, unless I can rig something up. This sucks. The pic shows the right side deflector mounted as of last night. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  15. Columbus, GA in January I'm trailering my 2004 white Venture to Columbus, GA in January. I'll need it serviced. Can anyone recommend a shop? I read some threads on roads to ride and ask for all the ideas you got of places to see and ride. Advice

Being mechanically inept I could use a little advice. When my son was visiting we went for a ride and he told me my right exhaust was blowing blue under hard acceleration. Today when I went to put the bike away for the winter I did my usual with the sea foam and fired it up to run the gas out of the carbs. There was a lot of blue smoke from the right exhaust and when I held my hand to it it was much hotter than the left one which was not blowing blue. After running for a couple minutes the blue cleared up and the exhaust cooled down. All pistons are running fine. Before I take it to the stealer next spring for a tune up I would like to get an idea of what is happening. Any suggestions?
  19. My truck clutch is going out its going to be about 25 to 27 degrees out in the morning found parcka pants to wear from when I was in the Air Force in the 80's, bright carolina blue mittins from I don't know where and my leather jacket. Lets see what happens.
  20. Well I've always been a person that likes the clean look on my bikes and I like to keep it simple. So I removed a tail light bar and back off module that the PO put on. There were a lot of wires and relays to remove. Now once I was finished I found two wires that I'm not sure where that go. They are at the tail light area and come out of the OEM harness. One is blue and the other yellow and both have male leads. Now every thing back there work. Tail light, brake light, turns, and hazards. I'm stumped.
  21. I would like to install one of those light blue head lamps on my 89 VR. Anyone knows what I should get?
  22. THE BLONDEMORTICIAN A man who'd just died is delivered to a local mortuary wearing an expensive, expertly tailored black suit. The female blonde mortician asks the deceased's wife how she would like the body dressed. She points out that the man does look good in the black suit he is already wearing. The widow, however, says that she always thought her husband looked his best in blue, and that she wants him in a blue suit. She gives the Blonde mortician a blank check and says, 'I don't care what it costs, but please have my husband in a blue suit for the viewing.' The woman returns the next day for the wake. To her delight, she finds her husband dressed in a gorgeous blue suit with a subtle chalk stripe; the suit fits him perfectly... She says to the mortician, 'Whatever this cost, I'm very satisfied.. You did an excellent job and I'm very grateful. How much did you spend?' To her astonishment, the blonde mortician presents her with the blank check. 'There's no charge,' she says. 'No, really, I must compensate you for the cost of that exquisite blue suit!' she says. 'Honestly, ma'am,' the blonde says, 'it cost nothing. You see, a deceased gentleman of about your husband's size was brought in shortly after you left yesterday, and he was wearing an attractive blue suit. I asked his wife if she minded him going to his grave wearing a black suit instead, and she said it made no difference as long as he looked nice.' 'So I just switched the heads.' (BET YOU DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!!!)
  23. Had to go to Elkton yesterday so took the bike. On the way there saw an black RSV going East on 81 around 4:30. Then around 5:15 saw a Blue VR going South on Elkton Rd. Anyone from here?
  24. The little red X's that are supposed to be pics. I have never been able to open these. Just lived with it but there is a " BLUE" 84 in our classifieds and I can't see it. With 12k miles??:crying::crying:
  25. Got this info off another site. I have verified the information and it is correct. Just FYI - There will be a huge BICYCLE ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway on Sunday, August 29th. This is for the area roughly from Blowing Rock, past Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Cove Viaduct, to the Linville Falls highway exit, basically mile markers 290 - 320. The bicycles will also be traveling on sections of Hwy 221 and other roads in that area. It is an event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have no idea how many bicyclists will actually be participating, but please be careful if you are riding or driving in that area. A motorcycle-bicycle "meeting" is a huge hazard for both sets of 2 wheels. Ride safe!
