The are shorter than stock bars but wider as well which i did like. i wanted them pulled back more and here they are with 99 venture risers. i think i may try the riser spacers to give 1 more inch of riser and 1 inch of pull back. So far i like it.

Does anyone have any experience with the Yamaha OEM Longhorn handlebars? I've been looking at them and wondered just how different they are from the stock bars. With the stock bars I kind of feel like I'm reaching for the grips. I'd like to bring them back a little and maybe in a touch so my shoulders are bit more relaxed. I know there's a lot of talk about Flanders bars out there but I was wondering about the Longhorns too, which nobody seems to talk much about. Also, I have a 2006 RSTD. If I were to go with Flanders, what part number would I need? Thanks in advance for all the replies. My God I love this site.

I bought a set of Venture risers from Pinwall to put on my 96 RSTC. I have the bars off and the lower nut from the old risers. I can't seem to get the old riser off. I've tried to tap it from the bottom with a block of wood and hammer. And I also tried to turn it with a socket in the riser where the bars go. It won't budge. Any ideas?

I have straight risers on my Tour classic. looking to see if anyone has a pair of venture risers they have taking up space in thier garage. The venture risers pull the bars back an inch., Even if I got the riser exenders it will only make it 1 1/4" high not back.

I Know I have seen custom harleys and choppers with all the controls and hoses hidden inside the bars . Does anyone know how that works or how involved that is. is it possible. Even if its only throttle and electrical and leave the hoses alone.I want to see more of the bar and less clutter.
-
I replaced the risers with 6 inch risers. The bars are nice and high now Just at the limit of the hoses but the bars are meant for lower positioning and therefore has the hand positions up and toward the center which is real uncomfortable when up high. Found a guy with wide glide bars that i will be picking up tommorow and see how that feels. Will take a picture saturday when its light out and post here.I may have to lower the risers by 1 inch which should be simple to do with a band saw. I really didnt want to spend the extra cash on apehangers so Im going with risers.

Took a short a ride ride after work tonight. My girl was a little chilly so we pulled over so she could throw on a hoodie. Came to a parking lot and turned it around...came to a stop and put my feet down and didn't notice how much of a slant we were on. ALMOST caught it.... but before I knew it...it was on the crash bars. We climbed off and I was shocked. It really doesn't fall too far. I grabbed it and picked it back up. Checked it for damage, could barely see the bars had touched. Pretty darn cool. Been riding since I was 18, almost 24 years now. This is the first time I have ever had one fall over while I was on it (short of a wreck back when I was 18). Embarrassing but not much I can do. My girl was fine and the bike is unhurt. But I guess I now owe a donation to the fund? Who do I pay? Frank

I'm thinking pretty hard about putting different handlebars on the RSV, but Venture specific bars are pretty limited in selection. Doesn't some of the bars from Harley's fit our bikes? If so, which models (I think someone mentioned Road Glide in another thread)? Figured since so many more accessories are available for Harleys, it might make bars easier to find if I search for them instead of Venture bars.

I know this has been doscussed, but I couldn`t find the post. I just got a set of TD handle bars from Phoneman and am wondering if the throtle cables will need to be relocated or is it a simple swap? I don`t want to get it tore apart and not have it ready to ride to work in the morning, so any info would be great...I might even buy ya a Blizzard!!! Thanks, Kreg

changing my bars for a set of RSTD bars and need a set of TD bar weights, any one have a set that they no longer need, please give me a shout!! Thanks

OK, I miss my first gen already, although the royalstar is significantly quicker, I have too much wind even with the lower deflector wings on the forks. I was thinking of putting on a fairing to decrease the wind on the bars, but don't know if a fairing made for the roadstar would fit a 00 Stock Royalstar. I have the speedo on the tank, so no issues there. Any input? I noticed several with RSTD's that the speedo becomes the problem. Or would I be better off putting Flanders bars on and the a harley fairing. I already have a trunk and hard saddlebags in mind. Maybe I would have been better off waiting for a RSV in my price range to come along.

I know everyone who has chenged thier bars here says the way to go is that flanders bars. Due to the lack of available expendable fund I will have to wait months. The other option is toi find nice bars on ebay and get them in a week. I have been looking at road king and a few royal star bars. Better pull back and wider as well. has anyone tried road king bars, There is one I am looking at which does not have the knurled mounthing sections in the middle. is this necessary on our bikes for secure mouning or can i mount smooth handle bars? i have 3 on watched list on ebay right now so I am looking for the jury before purchasing. I can get one of these for $40 with shipping, hope I can go this route and save some cah while enjoying my ride some more.

Caught myself off guard. For safety reasons I had turned the key to the lock position. I was working on a little project and went to stand the bike up with the steering in full right turn. It just scared me a little more then anything. I was expecting the bars to come straight but of course they didnt. Ooh well. Lesson learned.

Hello Everyone: Just wanted to thank everyone who commented on Flanders handlebar upgrade. It convinced me to order the bars. I installed the bars on Saturday and rode 300 pain free miles on Sunday. No more burning neck pain!!!! I will try to get around to getting pictures posted. I came up with a very good easy cheap way to save the bar weights. Any questions are welcome. I am glad to provide advise just like all you have done. Thanks......

Well I have an odd problem. At speeds over 50 or so the bike seem to have a wiggle in the rear. It is not a lot but kinda acts like a flat rear tire. I have checked air pressure and everything I can think of. It is like I am wiggling the bars. It did not do it so bad that I could not handle it but I do not like it. Any ideas? Thank You, Shaun

I was just wondering if anyone knew if you could use this http://www.cyclesolutions.net/product/sku-GM-Y122 to bring the handle bars on a 2006 RSTD back 1 1/2 inches towards the rider. In this drawing http://www.monmouthcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=200100&category=motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2006&fveh=4551 it looks like you could put it between 11 & 13 to bring the bars closer. Thanks in adv. for any help

This tire came off of Dave`s ( Just monkeyin around) 1st gen, it is not to the wear bars yet. Really lucky he made it on this thing.

I just installed the 1.5 inch risers...I notice the rubber piece between the handle bars and the faring don't reach that high...so there's no rubber between the bars and the faring...is it necessary? And if so, where would I find some high density rubber like that to make an extension? Thanks! Mike

i added the saddlebag side rails trim and had to remove the side reflector from the crash bar is there a replacement for the smaller size bars or someother type that can be added. thanks for replies

Does anyone know anything about a 1987 Suzuki VS 700 Intruder? Saw one on Craig's List near here and looks like a decent deal. Photos make it look like it is in good shape. It has a corbin seat, slip on pipes and drag bars mounted. Seems that this could be a next bike for my 16 year old son. They are asking $2500, but we would offer less than that, somewhere around $1800 to $2000. Thanks, Dave

Found this site, and the cruiser pegs are interesting. Especially if your legs don't reach forward enough to the crash bars http://www.aeromachmfg.com thought someone might want a look-see
