  1. Being that my left hand/wrist has pins and screws that it will be months before I know how much of it I will regain of it, with massive theropy. It is virtually use less. My right ribs and collar bone broken in several places, my right fingers and arm gets really sore and tired. So when you come accross any 1st Gen that could support me justifing a case to receiving more than NADA $5095. closer to $5750.00 please post here. My 91 VR had 9200 miles and was beautiful. When I get home I will continue. 1) finish the patch order 2) work the thumb switch order 3) work the side cover panel rail bar. 4) turn buckle accessory cross bar. 5) Introduce a new 1st Gen Patch. Thanks in advance Brian

  3. To register for the 2012 International Rally...forms must be received by July 1st..
  4. Was wondering with OEM tire size, how acurate is the 1st Gen Speedo?
  5. Here is a few pics of my son and his 1st bike. 05 V-Star 650 Classic. Let the good times begin!
  6. Hey Y'all, Anyone have a source for aftermarket or reasonably priced OEM windshield for 1st gens?
  7. Fighting another that don't want to go. I don't change this thing with every filter but was this time and can't get it to lay down in grove as it should. Not the 1st time!! What do the rest of you stick them on there with. Don't really want to see oil on my new floor. I leave enough spots on Skid's.
  8. Anyone Knows the various origional colors of the following? What are the origional colors of the MKIs? What are the origional colors of the MKIIs?
  9. Just a post to let anyone who might be interested know I have just two of the black braces left. This isn't a panic emergency notice as I can always put in another order for another 10, but it may take a while, and now that riding season is upon us??? Any rider who hasn't done the mod on their 1st needs to consider it....
  10. Where the Black Plug goes into the hole to cover the 17 mm nut is. Could 1st Gen owners measure the widest open distance to the nearest 1/8 from left handle bar to right handle bar.. The widest opening would be at the top of the oval opening. And specify if MKI or MKII. Thank You.
  11. I'll pay up when I can 1. I was riding home after a job, I was coming off the highway, and all was good. I come to the stop sign, I look, and make my left turn. Not far away is another stop sign, no biggy, done this HUNDREDS of time. I come to a stop..... and the rear tire slips. That was my first experience that for some odd reason, despite gravity, Lady Blue fights like hell because it was all slow, and steady going down on the right side. I was fine, just laughing, and thinking, "great, come on now, the sooner we get you up the better" Well. I tried. And failed, it took some fine brave young women to help me up. That was early 2011, just started riding the Venture after the 650's driveshaft shredded up. Looking back, wish I got some numbers and had taken out to dinner. Hahaha. ah well. 2. I was parked. 1st gear, 1st gear because where I was parked it dipped in quite a bit. and well, I also happened to have parked "inward" officer wouldn't let me turn her around. So, I'm getting off, and I did not let her set into 1st, she slipped off of the kickstand and fell to the left. My leg was hurting all day....
  12. The other day I posted about a recent project I had done. My handlebars extention studs for the 1st gen bikes. I had a few responses that some of you were interested in them. It turned out Bob Myers had done something much like my studs back in '08, much shorter than mine are at 4 inches and he made his at a much higher level of quality than I was able to. He actually has the right tools!!! So I contacted Bob and we talked about it. He has offered to make some of these sets for the guys interested, if there are enough to justify setting it up. So in the exchange with Bob the questions discussed where the material and the big one was how long should they be? Bob is looking at using 1" aluminum in stead of the 7/8" I did mine out of. The one Bob did for his bike is the 1st picture. Mine are the second shot. Which one looks better? Hello Mr. Myers! With mine at 4" on the bars there is exactly 4" between the inner ends. Some of you were interested in shorter ones. So for those that are interested in a set, or one, or a handful post your preference for for how long you would want them on this thread and we shall see what the choices are and what can be done to get this rolling. I can't give any idea of what the cost might be until we hit on some specs for Bob. By the way..... these will probably not be available in wood at this time. Sorry. Let us know. Mike
  13. I am a planner, I like to always have a strategy in place. This being the case, I know that eventually (in time) if I want to keep riding 2 up with the wife, I will have to go on 3 wheels. Using my 1st Gen as a platform (she only has about 15K original on her) would it be best to do a trike conversion or add a sidecar? I would love to hear the pros & cons from the group. I'm sure each has their benefits, but since I have NEVER owned either I can only speculate. I like the trike look but the sidecar may be more comfortable for the wife. The added storage on each would be great too. & what about towing a trailer with a sidecar attached?? I would love to hear your thoughts so I can make an educated choice based on our needs Thanks
  14. I am sure there is a thread on this - I want to mount a serious horn on my 1st Gen - any instructions on this? Ken
  15. Any one here riding a nice looking blonde 1st gen staying at an extended stay motel in Vilano Beach, just outside of St Augustine FL? Me and Jean were hanging out on the Vilano Pier and as we were leaving we saw a 1st gen parked in the motels lot. I did a drive-by but no one looked out and I didnt see anything that would indicate hes a member here. Just wondered.....those pesky first gens are so rare, but to find one actually on the road, well........and I know it wasnt Dan.
  16. Pulled rear tire off my 05 RSTD for new. Greased the splines and pulled the drive shaft for greasing. Reinstalled in reverse order and now just getting clicking when rolled. Won't move under power. What did I do wrong (1st genners leave this one alone about biggest mistake is buying a 2nd gen)
  17. Anybody see Judge Joe Brown today, it was a case about a guy who bought a 1st gen that needed more work than the guy was prepared for, but Judge Joe Brown told the guy he should have saved a few more bucks and bought a real bike like the Harley his wife originally wanted. He was hatin on it for awhile. They showed lots of pictures and the Yamaha name in big letters. It was a good lookin silver bike that looked loaded, probably see it listed pretty quick after that aired.
  18. Been ask about the 1st gen bike hitch. I would appreciate some help to find what would work and pictures would be great. Thank you for your time. Fuzzy
  19. 1st Gen owner ?. I installed the largest Clearview shield and the buffering is worst for both the driver and passenger. I have to open the shield vent all the way to make it tallerable. Anyone else with the largest shield experience the same?
  20. This was our 1st Patriot Guard Ride, this past Saturday. It was to honor a young 21 year old local hero who died in an Army training mission. He had completed 1 tour in Afghanistan. They requested the Patriot Guards to do just a flag line at the church. We were called to attention when the mother and the grandparents made a special point to come out and shake each of our hands thanking us for our participation. I rarely tear up so this was a rare occasion for me. It was such an honor to meet the family and a heart felt experience. I’ve included a few pictures of the group. The last picture is on the old Buckley Hwy, with Mt Rainier in the back ground, and my wife Rachel and Cherry Pie, my 91 Venture. Actually our 1st Patriot Guard mission was a hospitality mission back in the summer of 2011, where we drove our truck and trailer to help moved a recent widow of another one of our young fallen veteran hero.
  21. I am leaving on Thursday with a group of friends to ride down to Nogales AZ to pick up US 89 and ride it back North. We will be gone 10 days and end this segment in Springville UT then pick up the North segment in Sept. This is my 1st real ride on the trike and the 1st since the wreck last June.Needless to say I am a little nervous but I am so excited I can hardly wait,I wish we were leaving tomorrow.
  22. Made it home from Steve Wagner's M/D. Steve is a very gracious host and I thank him for hosting this event, looking forward to going back again. But, dont take a 1st Gen that needs a little work, poor Venture N Dixie was made to feel like the red headed stepchild the whole time he was there, Steve gave him the VentureRider warm welcome, told him if the dumpster was still there he wouldnt have to trailer his bike back home, he could just toss it in the dumpster........poor guy, at least it wasnt me being picked on, thanks Venture N Dixie for being such a great sport in taking all the flak you took from each and every one of us, you have to know that's what it takes to make newbies feel loved here at VR. On the other hand met some new faces and some old faces too. Again we only had that one 1st Gen and we showed it plenty of love by stripping it partway down and fixing, or at least trying to fix a leaky carb, and did get it carb tuned thanks to RandyR. Randy thanks for all the cold beverages. Here are a few pics of all the fun we had with the 1st Genner!
  23. I was wondering if anyone knew the sizes available. Are they being made to fit the 1st gen? I really liked the original commanders..
  24. Anyone doing online contests? I am doing the fiat USA Facebook contest and the fox.com/Alcatraz contest for a new mustang. I missed the 1st round so working on the 2nd round. I got the the 1st answer (puzzle 16) and couldn't figure out the rest. I think of myself as a smart person but these things I haven't got a clue. Thankfully there are folks out there that have figured it out and posted the answers and explanations in most cases. Even after the answers are explained I still have no clue how to solve it after trying to reverse engineer the puzzles.
  25. I have set the 2nd gen gearset into the old 86 1st gen block that I have and so far I do not see anything that looks like it would not work. With some larger diameter gears due to the 5th gear overdrive, I was concerned about clearance problems, but so far, so good. I have set the gears in both halves and will post some pictures. RandyA
