  1. yes...unless the weather is crap
  2. Will leave it on the 12th....
  3. Wednesday July 12th 11am in Paris at the Tim Horton's on highway 24 just North of the 403. Time for another group get together ! "Assemble" at the Tim Hortons. Flexible plan but ice cream involved !
  4. Why are you trying to eliminate the sensor? If you look at "Electrical - 1" parts diagram the lean angle sensor is item number 58 and looks to be in the left cowl. 58 SENSOR, LEAN ANGLE 4BH-82576-01-00 https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2006/royal-star-venture-xvz13tfv/electrical-1
  5. Does it come on when you hit the four-way flasher? Probably not but had to ask. What about the running light? Is it just the flasher not working? Best way to trouble shoot it is to look for bad wiring. With an ohm meter check from the contact inside the bulb mount to ground to confirm your ground is good. Then check for voltage on the other terminals - you would have to turn the flasher on (and turn the key to Ignition/Start). If ground shows good, then trace the wiring back to the harness looking for a bad connection. Look at the link below to see the wiring diagram. Left flasher wire colours : B - Black - ground CH - Chocolate - left turn signal L - Blue - running lights
  6. On Wednesday, thanks to the help (he did most of it) from Carl (Marcarl) and Phil (Sleepy2) we replaced the clutch slave and shifter shaft oil seal. Early Spring I was getting a drip of what seamed to be brake fluid under the bike. The old clutch slave appeared to be dry when we pulled it out though. The day we did the work, in the morning before I rode to Carl's I found the first drips of oil under the bike. There was oil seeping out from the oil seal. 105,000 km on the 2009 RSV Venture Big thank you to Carl and Phil for the help doing this !!!
  7. Have to agree with Carl ! Looks great...colour is fantastic. Hoping one day to see it on the road !
  8. Sounds great ! Great work and have been enjoying your posts.
  9. I took a sample of the dripping liquid to Carl and he confirmed that it is brake fluid (would be clutch slave). Going to order the parts (and do the shifter at the same time). Carl has offered to help.
  10. Been great reading what you have done and enjoyed the pics. If you are ever in Ontario (Kitchener/Brantford area) with the bike would be great to see it in person. Amazing work and project !
  11. I took the tank off and fake fins...no leak from the valve covers. I think it is the slave ....
  12. Looking at the colour of the drips...a goldy colour....now I'm leaning to it being the clutch slave unit. When I looked at the service manual it recommends changing the seals every 2 years. Bike is now 13 years old and I've never replaced them (104k km) Easy to replace?
  13. Did a search for "neutral switch" and found many posts. Didn't see anything about how to get to it but will keep looking. Clutch slave cylinder...this easy?
  14. I think you pretty well nailed it on the head....or maybe a few too many bumps to the head.... I called Performance Cycle in Cambridge to get ideas on what it might be. They have at least one mechanic that has been working on Ventures from the 1st gens. I remember when I bought my bike I took it to them for the safety and they pointed out some things that the original shop that sold the bike had done some things incorrectly (eg antennas on the wrong side). Mary that works the counter knows bikes as well and when I spoke with her about it she gave ideas and also got one of the mechanics to look at a used Venture they have to see the area I was talking about. I'll drop by the shop on Tuesday and point out the area I see the oil on the used bike they have....then take it in on the 24th (I don't expect to get free info and then not get them to do the work). Suggestion from them is the neutral switch. That is one of the things I was considering. I don't think I've ever seen a post of anyone having this issue but the shop said they have changed some out. Switch is (probably) plastic with an o-ring. Other suggestion was the clutch slave cylinder. I think it is oil that is dripping but I may be mistaken. Will see if I can collect some of it ... maybe scrape some off the cardboard I have under the bike. I don't believe the clutch fluid on the handlebar has gone down. Is there a good way to tell the difference between oil and clutch fluid?
  15. Anyone else develop a drip from this point? Wondering if there is a way to access it. Can't from below from what I can see. Wondering if it would be accessible thru the battery area (remove battery and battery box). Looking for ideas, suggestions and experience.
  16. From the Oil Cleaner diagram https://www.yamahapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/yam/500441cef8700209bc78e9df/oil-cleaner ....it might be from item "17 Pipe, Oil 1" which looks like it goes to the back of the clutch assembly or at least the general area. Looks more like a wire though rather than a tube...and it is on top of what looks like a white metal. It is definitely oil.
  17. Over the winter my '09 RSV has developed a drip. I put cardboard under the bike to narrow down the location of the drip which is coming from the area above and slightly in front of where a center stand would mount. It isn't the shifter rod gasket. It isn't the shock as that is dry and this is closer to the rear tire. Before narrowing it down I checked the oil drain plug and area ... looks good. Had checked valve clearance two years ago so I pulled the fake covers, seat, fuel tank...not leaking from above. Looks like a wire or something attaches on the top of it. I think it is the back end of the clutch basket. Any ideas on what it is and how easy to fix? I'll see if I can get a good picture of it. Can only see it from below the bike.
  18. Once it warms up and salt is off the roads....have to do another group get together.
  19. Yes....that is how it works. That way it won't accidentally close on you.
  20. Hopefully they got enough out that there are no problems. It is tempting to give dogs "human" foods but always need to remember that there are foods they cannot have. Hard to stop them when they help themselves.
  21. Hopefully you didn't suffer the long drive on your own. Did she go with you? If not....next time she sends you to pick up a "deal"... make sure she goes too.
  22. The billet air intakes are hard to find and are expensive. I had a set of the original plastic intakes chromed for a friend and they turned out great. Plastic chroming is a good option.
