  1. Its available! And now its reserved for you. Please send me a PM with your email, shipping address and what you would be confortable paying. We'll go from there.
  2. Watauga, TX (Just south of Keller) I can send you the full address if you want in a PM.
  3. @JasonM - Replied to your PM about this. Bike is not wrecked at all. Just can't seem to get it running well enough for the performance shop to tune the TCI. Long story short, I'm not mechanically inclined and I'm not looking for a fix-er-bike. Since I have lost all faith in my mechanic, it's just over. I have sunk 7 months and over $1200 into something I still can't get a good ride out of. Parting it out to help the masses and hopefully earn me enough money to put down on a newer cycle one day. *EDIT* EVERYONE: MasterGuns is coming out on Saturday to assist me in tearing down as much of the bike as possible in a day that is supposed to be 103+ degrees! I'm not expecting to get the bike completely dis-assembled but I do expect to be able to get many requested items taken off and pictures sent out, measurements taken, condition evaluated and prices set so please be watching your PM and E-mails on Monday! If anyone else in the DFW, TX area wants to come and assist please let me know. I don't think I can take it apart fast enough!!
  4. Everyone, I'm keeping a list going on what people are requesting. I'm getting a lot of requests so please be patient with me as I work to document what is being requested so I don't promise something that isn't available or miss anything. @ Flyinfool - They are available, send me a PM with info about what you want and we'll go from there. @ BRileyR - All parts you mentioned have NOT been spoken for yet. Send me a PM with what you want. Also, to some of you that are more mechanically inclined, I might need some guideance on disassembly as this process moves beyond plastics (Rotors, carburator, transmission etc)... *EDIT* I'll also post some good pictures today or tomorrow of the bike as a whole so people can see what's on it.
  5. I can ship, shipping would be factored into the price. Are you wanting just the black plastic vents or do you want the entire side panel covers? PM me with your response, Thx
  6. @ doug - Yes and no. One side (left I think) are intact. Other side (right I think) are damaged but not all are missing.
  7. @ Ponch - yea, it's really become a source of unhappyness. Haven't gotten to ride at all this year. Seems I just need to save up and spend the $$ on a fuel injected touring bike somewhere down the road. @ MasterGuns - you got it. Sending you a PM
  8. So my 88 VR will be parted and sold to the best of my ability, as posted in the aftermarket TCI thread... It has a lot of chrome parts and extras on it. I was thinking about hosting a 1 day pick'n-pull for anyone who wants to come and 'vulture' it. this way the buyer can assist in removing the part as to not allow me to cause any damage attempting to remove it. If anything good is left I'll sell on ebay for what I can get it for or on this forum and scrap the rest. Don't want to spend the next 6 months on ebay.. Parts will still be sold indiviually but I'm hoping everyone will be fair about prices. I'm not looking to get rich by any means, just put a fraction of the $2k back in my savings... Of course, this could be a completely bad idea... Any thoughts?
  9. I don't want to get this thread off topic. If anyone has any part requests please PM me.
  10. Well folks it's over... My 88 VR is beyond my financial capability and desire to repair. It's been in the shop a solid 5+ months and still is not running well enough to do the dyno test. I have put countless hours and money into it and have no further action to take but to part it and sell it. I'm returning the TCI that I borrowed. And I'll be posting sometime in the next week about what's up for sale on ebay. I'll be taking a couple parts off at a time as I can. I'm going to attempt to recover some of the money I sunk into it and that's it. It has a bunch of good parts, rick butler seat mod, lots of chrome, etc. If anyone is interested in a barely used Ignitech TCI pre-programmed I'm selling that first for $125 obo, free shipping. Once I get down to the bare bike and I'm not able to personally strip anything further, i'll post a new thread for whomever wants the rest as is. I have some other commitments this year and most likely will not be buying another bike until middle of winter at the very earliest. Even then, I'm not sure what I'm going to get. I DO know it will be a fuel injected bike This has been a very difficult 5-6 months, and certainly did not end the way I wanted it to. I apologize for not being able to come through on my attempt to get dyno info. Thanks again for all the help.
  11. Excellent. $53 sounds like a deal to me man. I'm gonna get one ordered up. Thanks a bunch for the info, D.
  12. Hey Condor My 88 is in the shop currently for a list of things, one of them was the ignition computer and is being updated on the IgniTech aftermarket computer thread elsewhere. My question is this. Ever since I bought the bike it would smoke after heating up when it sits for a while but then be fine as long as it was driven. My mechanic has located the leak and it's the shift sensor where the wires come out of. Yamaha discontinued the part. they have tried to seal it with silicone, jb weld and it's still leaking. The leak isn't bad at all, it's more of a seepage. Once it sits enough leaks out to burn off in a big cloud of smoke that looks, well, UN-appealing. So the smoking, not the loss of oil is my reasoning for fixing it. Could you share with me, in as much detail as you feel like, any possible fix for this so that I can pass it onto my mechanic for consideration? It sounds like you might have found one.. Any advice or info you can give me is much appreciated. ~Chris
  13. I would very much like to take you up on your offer. If you want to PM me when you have time. I'll be happy to pay for the return shipping to you once the test is complete.
  14. **Reader: if you have any interest in this project at all, please read this post it contains some important info!** Well first of all I HAVE A RUNNING BIKE! Woo Hoo! After correcting the faulty wiring, I went to my mechanic's shop this am and it started right up! Once he got the rest of the bike put back together and took it for a ride he called to let me know that it ran good, not great, but good. He said it seemd a little 'dummed down'. Which, I figure that's just the fact that I'm not running a MAP sensor so throttle roll will be laggy. No biggie. To anyone purchasing an Ignitech box: My issue should not deter you from going this direction. This is a simple thing to check now that pictures are posted on this thread. Clearly a good idea to check the wiring against the pictures though!! So here is what I decided to do for the good of the group, and this will probably be of interest to just about anyone who has been following this thread at all... There is a shop very near my house that has a dyno for motorcycles. I have made a few calls and arranged for the owner to check out the Ignitech software program to see how comfortable he is with it... If he is comfortable using the software program I'm going to get my 88 up on the dyno with the ignitech box to (a) get it tweaked for max performance and (b) see what kind of HP I'm getting. Now this info is mighty useful, BUT it would be even more usefull if I had a 100% confirmed working FACTORY ignition computer to compare it with! Owner already agreed that he, himself, would be very interested to see how the Ignitech box performs compared to the factory box and as long as he is comfortable using the software he is all for it. I'm looking at a couple of Benjamin's ($200+) to do this, but after all this headache I figured why not get it tweaked the best it can be and share the performance results and resulting tweaked map with you guys! I plan on having him run with TVKing's map as the ignitech baseline and work from there to tweak it as needed based on the dyno results. Now if I could only borrow someone's working factory box for a Mk II... ??? Surely you guys would agree that this would be real handy info to have, no?
  15. Brown wires have been swapped. I'm not going to jump the gun on emotional response just yet. I'm simply going to say that I'm going to the motorcycle shop Wednesday morning and give it another try. I will post back my response. Thank you Todd and everyone else.
  16. Hmm. Let me type this out so as to not be confused. The blue set check out as you say. The brown did not. Mis-wire or mis-understanding is what we need to find out. Here is how my two brown wires are run... Brown #1 that is located above the yellow wire, and to the right of the neon green wire runs to the connector WITH OUT a loop. More specifically, it runs to the larger of the two venture side connectors. Brown # 2 that is located above the grey wire, and to the right of the white wire runs to the connector WITH a loop. More specifically, it runs to the smaller of the two venture side connectors. I have attached a picture with the black wire sleeve cut off for better viewing. If this is all correctly stated, then mine is wired incorrectly.
  17. Ok here are the pics. Hope they look as good to you as they do to me!
  18. The box seems to be communicating fine with the computer and is able to pull information while attempting to crank the bike. the fact that #2 pickup isn't green and I'm getting red errors leads me to believe that the computer is detecting a problem somewhere. Then again, the bike starts right up with the factory computer, even though only 3 pistons are firing. So I honestly don't know if it's good or bad.. All I can say is if the computer IS defective, I'll probably scrap the whole thing. Though some of you guys might, I have no interest in putting this much work into it. I'm in IT, I spend a majority of my hours troubleshooting and fixing computers and many other things. I want to ride, not work, which is what this in turning into. Tinkering with lights, radios, horns, bags, seats etc. is one thing because I can still go out and ride when I want to take a break. Can't do that with this... My thoughts exactly. Just checking on this. Ignitech sent me some screenshots last week for comparison and I noticed that their screenshots had some different settings than mine. That's what made me wonder about that. You are correct, I just want to be running the best map in the event we get it working. That's all. I certainly can. I'll snap them this evening when i get home and post them for you to see. I am aware of this. Actually happened to me on our trip to Athens in 08. I drove all the way down there with a loose airbox and had to teardown in the Palestine parking lot to get it re-attached. Had some help from many a friendly folk. Not worried about how well it runs until it runs to begin with. Just want to get it to fire.
  19. Well I sure do wish I was having the luck that you guys are. My 88 has been stuck in the shop for the last two months!! At the moment my bike STILL will not run with the ignitech box. I can't imagine that the box is bad. It has to be a setting on the software. I have attached two screenshots for review. Please let me know if you guys see anything different than what it should be or what you are seeing. I also have these two videos if anyone is interested in viewing: Venture starting with bad TCI: [ame= ] [/ame] Venture not starting with Ignitech TCI: [ame= ] [/ame] Does the map file just load the map or does it load the map and all the settings on all the tabs? It looks like some enhancements have been done to the original map that TVKing posted. What is the newest, bestest (yes I said bestest), map to-date? (Post # would be best) Thank you for any further help you can provide.
  20. Well, my TCI from Ignitech arrived today. I was late to work so I could go to the mechanic's shop and hook it up and see how it works. I got the program loaded and downloaded the file from here but after an hour of playing with it at the mechanic's shop I never once got the program to show connection to the TCI..?? Ignition was on (but engine was not running). I'm using a Serial to USB adapter and set it to com 1 (also tried 13). I am running windows 7 but I tried using compatability mode and run as administrator, rebooted, connected things in different order. Nothing... Also noted that we tried to start the bike without applying the programming file from this site. It didn't start. My mechanic pulled out one of the spark plug wires and there was no spark at all ever while cranking... I would have suspected that even with default or incorrect programming that there should have been a spark at some point..? I'm going to grab an old model laptop with Windows XP and a real built-in serial cable and go back out tomorrow morning and try again. I'm worried though. My gut tells me that something is seriously wrong with the Ignitech TCI that I got....
  21. I have not. Starting to get concerned. I sent him a PM which I'm sure went to his e-mail. I too would like some cables if supplies are available. But now I'm just hoping that everything is ok with him.. ?
  22. Mine has been ordered as of monday. Took some time to get pictures to them and confirm that I don't need something special due to the fact that mine is a Cali edition with cruise. Came out to be $216 US after conversion. That includes shipping and customs. Very reasonable, I think. I would just tell them the year make and model of your bike. I looked at my invoice they send and it's a TCIP4 for a XVZ 1300. That's my 1st gen Mk II. Your model number could be different depending on the bike. Because of the time difference e-mails took about a day to turn around. I'm hoping the end result will outweigh the down time. Best case scenario puts my bike back up and running mid April. Ugh! Wish I had taken the bike in to the shop back in December!!! Grrr. Plus side is I'm taking this opportunity to get some other things done to the bike. Trying to get some new Battery cables from LoneStarMedic and Rick Butler has my seat this week to do his thing to it.. so.
