  1. I used Brian for my repaint. Good price and good job. Easy to work with when deciding colors and theme. I would use him again.

I keep the price down by doing the dismantle myself. Just delivered the parts. BTW there are 27 individual parts to paint.

Helps a ton to have the Yamaha parts manual diagrams. Let me know if you need it.

  2. In the United States per Federal Law 23 U.S. Code § 166 - HOV facilities motorcycles are allowed in the HOV lanes unless the state has applied for an exemption to this regulation for safety reasons. I have not been able to find any states that have applied for, and received, this exemption. If however there is a toll HOV lane, i.e. Peach Pass lane on I85 in Georgia, the motorcycle will be required to pay that toll.

  3. Wife and I left our home in south of Charlottte NC headed for a 3 hour round trip for ice cream in South Carolina about half way to Myrtle Beach SC. . . got home 3 days later. Had to stop and buy sweatshirts the first evening because we somehow ended up in the mountains of North Carolina

  4. I use Google Maps. Plan route on my computer then send it to my phone as a text message. When I need it just open up the text message and it displays on my phone what I planned on the computer. You will need a Google account which is free. Just set up a whatever account in gmail and use that for your signin set up.

  5. Got the Butler Seat Mod done a few weeks back but just now got a chance to get out for a good ride on it.

If you have not gotten this done yet I would highly recommended that you consider getting it done. It is a difference of night and day.

Rick trims the front of the seat so that you are no longer getting that pressure point on the inside of your thighs. Also the way he reshapes

the butt area gives you a felling of greater support on the lower back. He does a superb of reshaping the seating to provide the best support

and the removal of pressure points where you never even realized they existed.

Lets talk about the padding? The difference between what was in there and what he puts in is a dramatic difference. A mere whisper of padding compared

3 inches of memory foam speaks for itself. A padding that conforms to you rather than you trying to find the "comfortable spot".

Turn around time was quick and his response time on emails was lightning fast. Think it was about 10 days from my porch back to my porch.

One note on the shipping. Don't bother with trying to cut a 16" box down to 15". UPS will charge you for the 16" box anyway.

Oh, and don't forget your pillion seat. I got in a ton of trouble with the wife on this one. I had her seat done at the same time as mine.

She liked it so much that she actually got mad at me for not getting it done sooner for her. Her exact words were . . . we lets just say that

catering to her comfort is something I will not put off again . . . ever. She absolutely loves it and thinks it is the best thing I ever did to the bike.

The Butler Seat Mod (for BOTH seats) is something I would recommend to anyone with no reservations.

  6. Looks good.

But did you know that a deer walked across the wet paint on your left saddle bag lid......:whistling:

Remind me not to ask you to go track a moose. You'll set me up to shoot one of them tiny things and I'll get in trouble for shooting a moose calf. :shock3:

  7. . . . that Blue was the fastest color and I know that Yammer Dan would NEVER mislead me on something as important as that. I have always wanted to do an Alaska themed bike but didn't want to be like everyone else and airbrush it. Never being one to follow the crowd I took a different approach and using Alaska native art created stencils. I then used the stencils for painting the artwork on. No, I did not shoot the paint myself (although that would have been funny as all get out to see). Oh yeah, the colors? Why BLUE and gold of course, the same as the Alaska state flag. Now I sure hope Yammer Dan was right about that blue thing. What you think?

  8. I queried Avon about this a few years back. Here are the parameters I applied and the recommendations from Avon

Bike - XVZ 1300 Royal Star, Venture, Classic, Tour Deluxe

    Tire Model - Venom

    Tire Size - 150/90B15 80H

    Tool Kit - 15 Lbs

    Rider Weight - 200 Lbs

    Passenger Weight - 150 Lbs

    Baggage Weight - 50 Lbs

It is my understanding that different weights will change the optimum tire pressure.

Can you please advise the optimum tire pressure for the following configurations as

well as if there is a formula I can use to determine the optimum tire pressure based on load weight?

    Configuration 1 - Tool Kit, Rider -

Configuration 2 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger

Configuration 3 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger, Baggage weight

    Configuration 1 - Tool Kit, Rider - - 36 front 42 rear

    Configuration 2 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger - - 37 front 44 rear

    Configuration 3 - Tool Kit, Rider, Passenger, Baggage - - 38 front 45 rear

  9. Got to agree with baylensman. Before doing any changes first try running at higher rpm's. At 45 to 50 mph 3rd gear and up to 65 mph 4th gear is best. Unless I am running on pure flat ground I wouldn't even think about 5th gear until 65mph. These bikes like to run at a higher rpm. If you run them at a lower rpm it may sound like it is running at a better mpg but it is actually having to use more gas. Give the higher rpm running's and see if that doesn't help your mileage before doing any changes. It might save you some unnecessary money and you will get the advantage of some great riding time as you try different rpm settings.
