  1. Sitting on the porch just now having my coffee, two large bucks in full velvet and a large doe just walked through the yard twenty yards away. They didn't seem to mind me and made no move to eat the flowers or the shrubberies. So, I just let them walk.

    There will be another day.

  2. Personally I would still go with the original thoughts... Of course,, I also actually like Venison more than I do tomatoes too so theres that plus I like getting a drop on those wiley white tail too so thats that too... Matter of fact,,, after reading this,, I may try to grow a couple mater plants to lure me in one of those Bambi's,,,:big-grin-emoticon:

Wish I was closer Ready,, I'd buzz over and help ya put up the fence brother!!!

Sure is hard keeping the deer out of the squirrel corn.:whistling:

  3. I was just outside about 2 hours ago flying my little helicopter around the front yard when, out of nowhere,, that great big naughty tree in the middle of our front yard reached out and snatched up my little Helicopter.. There sat my precious little flyer, about 30 feet up, lights still on but not enough power on the rotors to free itself as I throttled up on the transmitter,,, lousy rotten tree = pick on someone your own size!!

Walked into my garage, grabbed a pellet gun and shot a good half dozen rounds at the skinny little branch that held my Copter hostage to no avail,, just not enough umphh.. I went back inside,,, grabbed my little 410 single shot, slipped a #6 shot in its little chamber and headed outside to rescue my chopper.. I looked up and down the neighborhood,, making sure that no one was watching,, I held the shooter along my leg in careful camo as I sought the perfect angle to insure that when the lead shot returned to earth after being launched it would not land on someone, or someones vehicle. After finding the perfect spot where the shot would land in the woods to the west of us , I located that skinny little branch and picked a 1/4 inch spot on the branch where a teeny little branch was sprouting from the larger branch that held my Helicopter.. Perfect!! The spot was about 14 inches from my chopper so I was pretty sure it would not be hit.. One more headcheck of the neighborhood and BANG!!! My little Helicopter hit the ground just about the time I nonchalantly stepped back into the garage,,,,, an unnoticed tree branch assassin with PERFECT stealth!!! Mission accomplished with only one tiny #6 shot hole thru a rotor!!!

Ready,, if your reading this little true story I want to add one thing,,, 3 inch slugs are still available for my little shooter and it is even more accurate with slugs than it is with bird shot and I do loan it out :big-grin-emoticon:

Also,, as you well know,, them Bambi's make EXCELLENT Tamale fixens, talk about win win!!

Yea but now you have poisoned the woods with lead shot and some unsuspecting little bird will swallow one thinking it is a seed and die of lead poisoning. And then the animal rights Nazis will get wind of it and have you arrested for animal cruelty and environmental pollution. Then they will have you on the news where your neighbors will see you and remember the gun shot that woke them up from their nap the other day and harbor resentment toward you. Until they report you to the home owners association that will probably send you a nasty letter threatening fines and zoning violations.

But at least you got your helicopter back.

    Just saying:whistling:

  4. I'd like to attend the services, how many others would like to ride to services?

As much as my first reactions were to want to go. current circumstances are not favorable for me to make the trip. My heart will be there even if my person will not be there.

  5. I would like to but bike is in shop and don't know when to expect it. I will let you know when I find out.

    :farmer:

Bob, I talked to the shop and told them to complete what is already in progress and I would bring it back next week. Let me know your plans.

Waiting to see how many be going. From here I will have to take off work on Friday to ride up Friday. Probably get a room up there for Friday night and Saturday night and ride back on Sunday.

  6. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. I can not contain my grief at hearing this news and my coworkers are wondering why I am now crying quietly at my desk. It seems I was either in or near by at all the pictures that were posted where Yammer was lurking around the edges. I was with him when the bear stole his gloves at Vogel. I was also there when he showed at Vogel riding Brown Sugar with a crutch stuck in the passenger hand rails. I was with him when he slept on the floor of the barn at B2 Mom&Pops. I was there with him at that Skid in when my lower rail weld broke and he helped me weld it back together. That was the time when the disgruntled hotel clerk erased all the room card keys and a lot of us had to spend most of the night in the lobby. I was there when he caged it to maintenance day and camped in the back of his truck and stayed up all night on guard duty for pond monsters. All the times we two loaners ate together at the M & E function meals we were at together. I was with him at Asheville when we stayed up all night by the campfire listing to the frogs

    Croak.

I just read through this entire post and even though several asked there has been no funeral arrangements information posted. I feel compelled to say that we need a group ride or meet to honor of the passing of our good friend.

Prayers up for his loved ones.

This place won't be the same without him.

  7. Work up early this morning, once again saw my pile of paper by my recliner reminding me that I was going to have to stop procrastinating and get my taxes done. So, got me a big cup of coffee and got busy. Wasn't all that bad and every year I get irritated at myself for stressing over them and not just getting them done.

So, they are done and filed. Always a big load off my mind. Next year I'll do them early...yea...right. :whistling:

    Yea me too

    Good luck with that.:happy-emoticon:

  8. Well, haven't actually done ANYTHING to the Venture this year. Also, haven't moved the Slingshot since the day I nearly froze to death riding it home.

BUT...i have added a few things.

    Bullet Speed V-Back top.

    Madstad adjustable windshield.

    Carbon_One trailer hitch.

    Trailing wiring isolator and connector.

You just need to buy a convertible with a trailer hitch.

  9. To cold to ride and with all this chatter about guns, one of my Harley riding buddies and I are gonna go shootin today.. Got shootin irons on my mind and Tip laughed when I woke up singing the following tune.. She is always amazed at how I remember the tunes to those old westerns we all loved so much,,,,,, I told her thats cause she growed up playin with dollies and didnt grow up liven by the code :big-grin-emoticon:

Don't forget the physco dad theme song

  10. A note to Bob:

Please make sure you dont get the underground PVC conduit for the electrical mixed up with the underground PVC pee tubes.. :240::big-grin-emoticon::stickinouttounge:

Note to self: Do not install underground pee tubes. Instead install a Port a potty over the clean out cap of septic tank.

  11. AWESOME!!!!!!

:lightbulb:,, if I had a 4x4 tractor set up like that the 1st thing I would do is build a really cool campground complete with underground PVC Pee Tubes sticking up so alllllllllll my biker buddies could stop and camp for free any time they wanted to.. :missingtooth::big-grin-emoticon::big-grin-emoticon::dancefool::bikersmilie::7_2_104[1]:

That was exactly part of my long range plan. It's already set up with multiple tent sites and fire pits. As far as pee tubes and power I hadn't planned that far in advance yet.
  12. My Buddy Woody hooked me up with what I think was a deal. Not only did I get what I think will be almost perfect for what I need. (Kubota BX 2230 D, 4 wheel drive 60" belly mower and 3 point hitch with dual pto's , compact tractor) but I also got an antique fixer up project tractor a (1939 Ford 9N with a 4 foot bush hog) I think I got two for less then the price of one...... And he brung em to me all the way from Talladega.

    What a guy.

  13. Around here about $40.00 per round bale. Now if you are going to harvest your own hay, you will need a baler, a hay rake, a hay mower (not a bush hog), and a lot larger tractor 60 HP would be a start. Don't forget the hay trailers, truck and forklift on tractor to load bales.

You may be getting in over your head on this deal. You'd probably need 80 acres to break even. Now if you feed your own cattle you might get by with less acres, maybe 60 acres. You'll need a couple donkeys to protect the newborn calves, the ability to go out in any weather to pull a calf from it's mother due to breach or other issue.

    Have a good day!

    :farmer:

There you go again, turning this into a full time job. Back to plan A, just keep the grass cut.
  14. Here in NC, in order to qualify as a farming operation, 10% of your income must be from farming operations. This includes cattle, sheep, goats, cash crops, hay, etc.

    :farmer:

That would be a lot of hay. How much is hay going for by the bale nowadays?

  15. That's what I was thinking. You probably have enough land to come out ahead without having to mow or invest in a tractor. You want to ride something, get an ATV or two that you can write off on your taxes.

How would write ATV off on taxes?
