  1. Here it goes, started in NYC, Long Island, USAF Florida, Trumbull Connecticut, back to Florida and finally Pumpkin S.C. When my wife and I was building our house we would put up a few pcs. of plywood and sit in lounge chairs, we would look out of a window to be some day and look at the Blue Ridge Mountains. Now we all have had a few other nick names in our life so here is a couple more. I was tall growing up and my friends took the name from a jumbo loaf of bread and called me Jimbo. Then as those who have been in the service know that everybody is called by your last name, well they could not pronounce my last name DuBois ( french ) so I was named Dubie. That name did fit me well being the late 60's and early 70's and that is enough said about that!!!. So out of nowhere I picked Blue Mountain Jim to use on the Ventures.org. Jimbo has stuck with me for over 50 years. I had another name overseas, but we will not go there either!! This was a great idea, thanks Jim
  2. The old DD-214 form, I was looking at the enlisted dates and I feel younger now. Mine was 1972, USAF, crew chief F-4 C&D models over in South Korea on the Kun. GOD bless us older ( GENTLEMEN AND WOMEN ) that served. My hat will always be off to those that served and are serving. THANKS
  3. I am all on board as far as the insurance from above. Still in the middle of having my 2007 Tundra flipped 360 degrees while minding my own business on the way to a meeting with my Pastor at 35 mph. I was told to file it thru my medicare by the lawyer and am still holding on to over 7,700.00 worth of med bills and my credit score is tanking at a fast rate, and all was doing was driving down the road. That was Sept. 21st 2015 and then was told that my settlement would be around 1.5 times my medical bills or at best 2.25. Allstate put the screws to me and I had to fight for every dime to get out of my truck and I bought it brand new and had full coverage!! I was so out of the ballpark on what I thought I had insurance on it was terrible. No tickets,no nothing and a disabled vet with a broke back. Insurance is a great thing if it is there when need it and have enough of it. I was personally told by a Pastor lawyer friend of mine that Allstate was one of the worse and State Farm was one of the best, and I just switched to save money. Have Dairy Land for the bike and can not touch it from any other co. 287.00 a year full coverage as so I think. Keep safe, Jim
  4. Prayer is the most powerful tool a person could ever have! It is never my last thought but my first thought! GOD bless
  5. There are some great Christian movies out and this one was shown at church, as a Friday night at the movies. One of the reason that I love the Venture's family is that there are so many believers. It is a sad day to think that they are trying to get Christmas out of our country's heritage, it is a FEDERAL HOLIDAY not a religion. Pray for troops overseas this is a hard time of the year to be away from America shores. GOD, COUNTRY, and SERVICE. USAF. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
  6. In the 70's we called all Harley's, BOWLING BALL HARLEY DAVIDSON'S ( AMF )
  7. I would like to THANK all our troops over seas. It is a hard time of year to be away from home, but because you have the desire to protect OUR country from evil I give THANKS. Do not think for one second that this GOD blessed country could be safe without you commitment and the AMERICAN HERITAGE of giving THANKS to ALL that have served her HONORABLY. With out your service we could not be able to have a humble THANKSGIVING, so to all that have served and are serving. THANK YOU and may GOD bless you and keep you safe.
  8. Things have really changed since those days and i am glad it has!! But the memory will never go away
  9. I read this article in Southern Biker mag, Oct. 2015. I live in a urban area and as those others that do also the fear have of hitting a deer grows as deer season opens increases. I have looked at all the gizmos of repelling deer from the roads and never had much faith in them at all!! But this Deer Screamer was written by a biker and not a company, he states that it works and it actually is heard by deer 200yds which equals 600ft in my simple math. The New Jersey State police used them with great success. Other animals are ground hogs, raccoon's, birds, and foxes but horses and cattle it does not have a effect on. And of course I am not responsible for this read and deer names have been changed to protect the innocent. http://www.deerscreamers.com. Take Care and GOD bleess, Jim
  10. Hello, has anybody ever see one of these? Jim[h=1]Ultra-Tow Single-Rail Folding Motorcycle Trailer, Model# 3806S084[/h]

  13. Well i have made a lot more friends then I thought at the International Rally!! My credit card numbers have been hacked and my new friends are enjoying my wealth. The bank has hot carded my card and I found another one they missed, Applebee's has shown up 27.00. Someone was trying to use my card # in Montana at Home Depot, bank caught that one. So much for the Show Me State, how about the Stole Me State. I am fully aware that the people in that fine state are no reflection on a few bad apples, they are everywhere now. keep and eye on your bank statements. thanks again for the memories. Jim
  14. We will be looking to camp after the kids go back to school, sometime in Sept. International Rally and Vogel planned so far. I will keep both ears open if someone has a idea, Jim

  16. Any camping info yet? Thanks for all you do, Jim
  17. Steve they have no idea what that black spy stood for, suppose you should tell them so they have a idea. I still have my patch that was on my fatigues, or maybe you could keep them guessing!!!! Jim
  18. I had a 1998 the first year they came out, put 40,000 miles or more. In 2002 they came out with a dual piston rear brake and it made a great difference in stopping, I had the old single brake on it and it welded itself shut on a ride to Panama City Fla. that was enough for me. The 2002 was as they say plug and play to put on, had it on in less then 30 minutes, Heavy bike and two up most of the time wore those single pads even the high heat and metal every 5,000 miles. But as others said they are built proof, and oh yea you have to remove the tank to change plugs and no reserve on a good day on the highway 120 miles top two up. Would buy it for that price if I had the chance and wanted a LIGHTER bike. Take care Jim
  19. Hey, ragtop what # sand paper did you use to get the forks to shine again. Thanks Jim

  21. There is some serious hacking going on on ebay by a seller named Mr Weed, I have found out on camping and tents listings. 250.00 tents selling for 20.00 and have my paypal account trying to be compromised. Be careful and I do not what other listings this clown is involved with.
  22. I have another question, is it normal for a tent floor to become damp and slightly wet. Does the tent mat or plastic make the tent dry or am I the one who bought the wrong brand of tent? Eureka is the brand name and having some bad luck, is is a factory refurbished tent and when we put it up yesterday I counted 24 patches on the floor, so I am in the middle of my first camping delima and am sure not my last. Well thanks alot for all that was kind of enough to throw some facts at me. Hey the air mattress stayed inflated, sure hate waking up on the ground in the morning. Take care and GOD bless, Jim
  23. Hello Gary, thanks for the input, I have a small trailer I plan on pulling. We are doing the tent deal, I learn more each time I get some advice from someone and this is our first year doing it. I have scored some good deals on some things ( so I think ) got a double sleeping bag, straight sided tent which I have to have, broke my back 11 years ago so I am on borrowed time, 18" blow up mattress. I get the idea about thinking what you think you need and put in a pile and then rethinking. Thanks for that advice!!! What about a cooler and the idea about the pillows and big light weight stuff on a rack on trailer, thanks again. I am taking notes and will make a check list for sure to many senior moments nowadays. We will be a 4 or 5 day camper LORD willing. I am not that far from you, I see you have pic of the BRP. I can see NC from my front porch, takes a little over a hour and I am on I- 40 and I-26 intersection. Ride to WV in laws live there and take 26 to 81 to 77 north, so I see you post a lot a wonder where you and others live along that path we travel. Plan on getting our act together for the international rally in July, well thanks again for the info and take and GOD bless, Jim
  24. Hello Campers, wife has retired and we go to start camping. I have some questions about items needed, thank you for ideas, my question is gear types, stoves, kitchen setup, and etc. Would try the WV camp out, wife comes from just north of Summersville WV, as the eagle flies 15 miles from Skid. But need to be in Fla. may 8th for family reunion and wife walks out the door May 1st, really looking forward to get together with the VR campers. I think it is great that we have this site, really compact things, I am all ears for any ideas, no really I have big ears. Take care and GOD bless, Jim
  25. Again I blessed to have so many members that take the time out to give me there view of ball, I know with the trike that if for some reason you get to the point of no return some thing is going to give, crazy things happen and who knows when they do. I had personally known where a trailer came off the ball and threw two large adults off of Ultra Glide with the chains causing the accident, crazy thing. I know how it FEELS when we drop these big monsters and with a broken back it is not pretty site, so it seems to me that it may be darn if I do and darn if I don't. I will try it around here first and if I can make the trailer and the bike dance together then I will have more of and idea. But you can bet your boots if everyone said their kill you, well then I have two shiny chrome balls sitting with the rest of the got to have junk. Thanks again and GOD bless, Jim
