Took a long weekend and Lisa and I went to VA Beach. I thought the sunrise this morning was too beautiful NOT to share.

This morning had a gorgeous dawn, then lost most of the color when the sun finally broke through. The pics don't nearly do justice to seeing it in person, but here's some pics of what i saw while drinking my morning coffee, as well as a few pics from the military aviation museum. A bike with a sidecar and a scooter that can be parachuted in in a tube and quickly set up. Just a tiny bit of the cool stuff there.

Today's sunrise was of a different flavor. BTW: HIGHLY recommend the Military Aviation Museum here, just south of VA Beach. Some really cool stuff....

While we were at Asheville I noticed the front tire was getting close and then we went to Maggie Valley and by the end of it I knew I needed a front tire. Well we got it mounted and installed yesterday it is a Michelin Road Classic rear tire in reverse so we gonna give it a try.

Took the trike out for a little ride yesterday. Though I certainly know better, I had not checked the tire pressure since buying it. Having sat for about a year before I purchased it, I knew better. So I checked the tire pressure before taking it out yesterday and all three were VERY low. Rear tires had about 14 lbs in them and the front about 24 lbs. Aired them up to the proper recommendations and it was amazing how much better it handled. Even the vast majority of the headshake that I had experienced was gone. I was cruising happily down the road when I started loosing power. A quick glance at the gas gauge showed that I was on empty. Having gotten used to fuel injection, I momentarily forgot that I had a "reserve". I hadn't ever used the aux tank before so I just reached over and hit the switch and waited as the bars increased on my gas gauge. I never had to pull over, the bike almost immediately regained power and I continued riding and let it fill from the aux tank until it was about 1 bar from full. I know that you can overflow the main tank if you don't pay attention. It worked amazingly well and I am very happy with it. Otherwise, it was a short but enjoyable ride.

I don't know of a tire manufacturer that makes a car tire that will fit a motorcycle rim. I run a rear tire on the front of my trike.

I believe the Beemer with the sidecar was German....BMW....used in North Africa. The scooter was American, and since it was paired with a dummy used as a distraction to the Germans, I'd guess that the scooter was used in Europe, particularly during the invasion at Normandy.

That’s mounted on the mirror stem, not brake line. I used the perch mount, unscrew the master cylinder clamp screws and set the mount there.

My wife read me that news story yesterday... All I could do was laugh... Then I called her my "Spousal Unit"..... Lucky for me I can run faster then she can throw things.....lol

That’s beautiful! Nice to get away, the wifey and I did a long weekend in Vegas weekend last. Circ du sole show was nothing short of fantastic!

Uh oh, look what I started... The harley livewire thing is actually pretty interesting. HD spun Livewire off as a standalone company, rumor has it someone thought it didn't fit the HD "image" and would turn off their loyal customer base. Well lo & behold, Harley now sells a Harley branded Livewire and I've seen two in the last week on the streets. Perhaps common sense prevailed and they realized growing their loyal customer base with a variety of offerings is how to grow a business. I actually talked to a youngster over the summer who was on one, charging it at the nearby grocery store's charging station. I would say he was mid-20's and he could not stop grinning ear-ear as he raved about how much fun it was. He said he could get 140-160 miles range, depending on where/how he was riding. Its sport bike ergonomics is definitely not for me, but when he zipped away with nothing more than a Jetson's like whir, I was in lustful awe. I will plead the 5th on any immediate weiner proportion changes that may have occurred.

The issue is that the larger in cubic inch you go the more heat is produced. I rode my 78 shovel head all over the country and spent a TON of time on it exploring the desert. While it did get warm, its 74 inch V-twin shedded heat NOTHING like these big V-Twins of today do. I got a hunch that the 1800cc air cooled beemer will be one hot puppy as it cools its jugs/heads on the riders legs, wayyy more than the 750cc flat twins did. I also see a LOT of potential damage happening there when someone drops one.

I just bought two tickets the other day, gives me double the chance with the pretty girls and a 35k moto. Of course, 2 x 0 still equals zero...

I recently test rode both pursuit and challenger models. I was really impressed, the power was effortless and the ride really solid through curves. I think they handled better than my RSV and would run away from it. they sit lower to the ground and I'm kinda tall, so that's the one thing I like better about my Venture. I bought a lottery ticket on the way home from test rides, that's the only way I could afford a 35K motorcycle.
